I am writing this as a suggestion but also partly a complaint. I realise this server is a PvP server and raiding and stealing etc is encouraged. But as a player who finds more pleasure in owning their own faction and building their own buildings etc I suggest that an "Option" be made available for those players who wish to play without having to fight raiders and invaders etc. Another reason is because other factions can enemy you practically because you moved to their map or tried to talk to them. It is nonsensical that a server which is supposed to be family friendly encourages raiding and pvp battles WITHOUT providing an option for those children or people who wish to have the right to build in a multiplayer environment. Im not leaving massivecraft because theres so many positives but if I had one negative it would be that. And theres lots of people who would agree with me on this.
If you could incorporate a command perhaps into the server which makes you a peaceful faction for a number of days (to prevent people using it as a defense strategy) and it would prevent raiders from killing you, or you from killing anyone else inside or outside your faction. So thats my ideal scenario. Pls consider it.

Peaceful factions were enabled for quite awhile, but people used it to avoid being raided, then turned it on to raid. It was really quite rude. However, if there was a way to "apply" for peaceful status, I think that might work. I wouldn't mind having it back, as I also wouldn't mind being a peaceful faction.

It would have to something based on a case basis, probably, which would require more work from moderators.

Exactly, truce chat would work just as well. And you wouldnt need allys anyway.

Yes thats exactly what i mean. If people could have that status without using it as a way to get out of faction quabbles. It could be a simple command but used with a 3 day "breaker" to prevent people from going in and out of it. Or it could be a personal application like you suggest. It would work if the design was right.

I want to make a peaceful roleplay faction, but being peaceful isn't a true option. Trollers out there enemy those with the description similar to "peaceful faction" just to be funny. Which it is, but...

Yeah maybe it should be something like that where you have to sell your current faction (which isnt peaceful) and buy another one for a certain price which could be roleplay and that would mean people would have to stick to the peaceful option (or else spend tonnes of silver) to revert back. Good idea.[DOUBLEPOST=1357105968][/DOUBLEPOST]Another way of dealing with the raiders etc would be to make the "enemy" command something that both "parties" must accept, therefore if one party didn't accept the enemy request they would have no issues and be left alone. The issue is people just can't leave you alone in your own land, even if you have not provoked them. Its just the attitude of the game.

I have been thinking along a similar line. What if there was one, open, peaceful faction (Peasants). [In addition to all the present factions, which are not allowed to be peaceful.] Peasants would have no claimed land, but, of course, could be given permission to build on a faction's land. This would allow faction leaders to "protect" their peasants. Peasants could then harvest crops, build, mine, etc., but would not count toward any faction's land claim (as they couldn't help in it's defense). Independent peasants could not protect their crops and structures from raids, having to just stand there and watch the destruction, but they could not be killed, so would not loose their items, or what was in a locked chest.

This would work best is there was a way to limit changes to 3 days, like the race plugin. It would be fine for someone to escape combat by hiding as a peasant, but that person would have to hide for 3 days before they could return to their old life.

To make being a peasant more attractive, the establishment of a farmers market where peasants could sell their crops would help and aid in the role play. Maybe the permission control will be fine enough to do this in Regalia (even smaller stalls, maybe 2-4 chests). I haven't come up with a good way to do this with present permissions.

Yes i agree with most of what you say but I don't agree that faction owners should sacrifice their hard-earned factions to live as peasants. I think it should just be an option for them. In my ideal scenario: You can live within your faction boundary or land, whatever, and you can build what you like and farm, mine etc but not be subject to faction guidelines such as allies and enemies etc, but you are immediately truced to all factions. In a way it would protect you from a lot of stress. And you could then invite people who do not wish to live in normal factions. Yes you could sell and make yourselves larger and expand your claim as much as you like with each player invite, but you would have no issues with surrounding factions.
That would work.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm 99% positive this cannot happen. Last time they tried to have factions with the peaceful status, they abused it not by becoming randomly immortal in combat, but because certain peaceful factions (no names mentioned) would insult and troll the hell out of everyone, and because they were peaceful it was impossible to raid them and shut them up :P

With the peasant suggestion, you could still raid and destroy their crops/animals and break into their buildings or raid the faction that was protecting them. With no leaders there wouldn't be any allies, so they could only talk to other peasants on faction or ally chat, they could be muted in global and trade if they break the rules, and you can go somewhere else if they insist on being a problem in s or y. You also always have the option to ignore someone. Having a peaceful faction that is still trying to rule the world can be problematic. Having a peaceful faction where the first choice is to give up land ownership might work, and it has definite role-play possibilities.

Well something needs to be done about it nevertheless. I dont agree with thewatchdogeditor about his point but I do agree that something needs to be done to prevent people abusing it, the cool down needs to be a week or something and the price enough for people not to swing in and out of it. I understand watchdogeditors point but I dont agree that that would stop anyone having the ability. There are always other ways around it.

As arimosa said, if there was a strict application process and certain conditions that must be upheld, peaceful factions couldn't hurt. If factions were antagonising others or trolling, they'd lose peaceful, and they'd have to convince the staff that they really deserved to be a peaceful faction.

I, as many other people, also raid with alt accounts.. Maybe if you were caught using an alt account to raid while your main account had a peaceful faction, you would get a punishment like a temp. ban or jail?

Oh yeah theres plenty of those with alt accounts and I understand where your coming from. Its the sort of idea (peaceful facions) where you have to take eveything into consideration so that no one is disadvantaged or treated unjustly. Its a very complicated issue. ;)

I for one don't like to hide in a hole when Argonia raids because I was recently building. Would be nice to see this actually take place. :3
