The majority of large, powerful factions have been along a while, have managed to survive and gained members and allies. Yet there is a new issue that I have noticed recently. Large factions are not allowing new factions to prosper. The larger stronger factions are oppressing the smaller probably newer factions. Now this is perfectly fair and legitimately fine for the big factions to do. Yet I discourage it to all of you powerful factions out there. Make friends! Help the other factions out, at least give them a chance!

Right, firstly, a lot of smaller factions I have run into are just down right not nice to larger factions. Just because they are small doesn't mean large factions shouldn't give them the time of day.

Secondly, this server is half a PVP server so really, fights should be expected.

Thirdly we don't need new factions! Join a large one if being "oppressed" is so annoying for you.

Plus, if you are so small then I'm sure that max tribute isn't that big.

I'm not annoyed, firstly this is not a post of distress or of anger, its a post of situation. I have seen this in many encounters and I felt like posting it. Secondly, in what sport is it to destroy a faction if they have no chance? And my last point; of coarse we need new factions! The essence of Minecraft is to expand and build starting from blank New factions allow new members to have a more personalized essence and add their essence before the faction is in its fully developed state.

1- Fair play,, I must have misinterpreted.

2- That's called Massive PVP. Surrender exists for a reason. If you don't have the regals to surrender, you shouldn't be running a faction.

3- If everyone followed this logic of making a new faction to personalise the experience, no one would join existing factions. Also, we are crowded enough as it is without bad looking factions cropping up all over the map.

"Do not abuse the faction permissions to raid. This includes fighting more than once a week outside of an approved declaration. Read the full War and Raid Rules for a full explanation on this.

  • Raiding is allowed on the server. If you are being raided and wish for it to stop, you can always pay the tribute.
  • You may only raid a faction for up to two hours once every week (seven days). Unless you have an approved War Declaration on the forums in which case, there is no limit to amount of raiding you can take place against the other faction.
  • The raiders must have the surrender terms ready if the victims call for surrender terms. However if the victims call for a false surrender i.e say they will but do not provide the said surrender terms they can be punished for this.
  • The raiders cannot change the surrender terms in their favor after they have first been stated. The only exception to this rule is if a Staff member has informed them that they MUST be changed to be compliant with the ruling.
  • Remember to be civil and show some empathy and understanding. Not everyone on the server is as good as everyone else, if a faction that is fairly new to the server is under constant attack consider holding off any further attacks until this faction is at a time where they can better defend.
  • Do not use alternate accounts to gain entry to another faction for information, portal codes, to open doors or any other raid agenda based action. Doing so will result in severe punishment taken against those who we have evidence of this rule being broken on.". Directly obtained from the rules of the server. Take in to consideration the fifth paragraph.

Good point, of coarse there is a point in which a faction must start growing with more members but also a point where they should stop. I think that that after a point in a factions life, its should start getting bigger. But when it gets over crowded that's when a new faction should begin. I strongly agree with your "#2" its very true!

Honestly, being small means nothing. Cecidit is a small faction, and has been around for over a year. Its all in the will of your people to play, and how you conduct your faction. If you expect to just walk outside like normal, without any form of defense, of course you will die like the dirty dog you're being.

Take the time to think, and plan your faction accordingly. Because every time your members die because you didn't plan your faction out properly, thats all on you.

Well, I hate to be a Bum here, but not everyone is nice on this server.
Also, with Taxes and PVP the bigger faction needs more supplies to stay alive, therefor they target the smaller guys, I was in that situation once, But I defended my faction even if unsuccessfully. I never gave up and thats what drove me to what I do today :)

Just do what I do =I

If the little faction is nice; the big one is usually nice back.

I've been raided about 3 times, and each time I ended up allying the raiders because we had such a good time. x3

I think if you want a small faction to prosper you need to take the initiative.

While you're setting up, don't annoy the bigger factions unless you can take them on with the force you have got. Other than that, you need to stay out of their way, until you're large enough.

Personally, I think newer factions should band together, sort of how the Wildlings did in GoT, but hey, that's my opinion

Just my 2 cents on this.

Theres a couple ways to go about this.
1. Be nice to raiders (i know its not easy) but if your nice you might be able to get them as allies afterwards, and then they can potentially help you out in further raids. (One thing PVP'ers like more then killing people is killing more people)
2. Create a defensible base before you start heavily recruiting
3. Get allies
4. Try to keep a supply of regals on hand to surrender. (keep in mind they have to accept if you offer to surrender)

In the end larger faction are always going to end up picking on smaller factions, and really nothing will change this. It really comes down to what will you, the smaller faction, do to defend yourself or make friends to help defend for you.

What is the purpose of this? This is honestly just seems like you're whining because the big boys aren't bein nice. I'd suggest you go ahead and lock this yourself before it turns into a flame fest.
I said this already but Ill say it again, I'm not whining or complaining, I'm just here to discuss this because I have seen it happen to many factions. My faction isn't even being attacked be anyone! The few times I have been attacked I accepted it. I'm only attempting to inform or bring something up for the greater good. @65jes89

MOVED TO GENERAL AND THREAD CLEANED

@Terrariauk we are a small faction, does that mean we're being killed by all of our 0 enemies? Oh by the gods, whatever shall we do?!

I think that yeah, big factions have the right to recruit new players, but also, how did they become big facs? Recruitment chat, and loyal players. If there weren't so many faction hoppers and people who only play the server for an hour, this wouldn't be such a huge problem. Still, it would be nice to give small facs a chance. Who knows? They might save your butt in a faction war someday.

*Attackers are FORCED to accept max tribute

A bit off topic: I read your title as "The oppression of large factions." Sounds like it's the large factions being oppressed. Might want to change the wording a bit.

You state multiple times that you aren't complaining, so I'm not going to make this about you.

Really just a few common sense points to follow to help, not completely advert this.
  • Build a base before you recruit. A lot of times, people claim land, build a house or two, and then let new recruits build their own houses. Not only does this give you a weird and ugly mismatch of styles, you get houses that might be super easy to get into. You also have people outside building, usually non premiums, which are ripe targets for raiders.
  • I stress the use of /dynmap hide.
  • Invest in some allies. Be nice, and try to offer a little to someone to get a little. In return, you might receive a valuable ally in months to come.
  • Don't piss off someone you can't take on your own. If you're thinking to yourself "Oh, me and my allies can take this faction," you just made a big mistake. Never 100% count on allies. While some may support you, some may not. Some may betray. Some may join the other side if they think they have a better chance of being of winning on the other side. Never take on someone you can't defend against on your own, and then expect allies to help you in your already losing defense.
Really it's all just common sense. Don't piss off the big dogs when you're the tiny kitten.
