Looking through the recent listing of the racial lore rewrites, many people have come across something strange under the Gorr section. A new race known as the Ohnak. It's time to boot up my analysing skills to see what it means.

After some google searching, I have come across something. The Hawaiian word "Ohana." I also came across the Star Wars pirate game called Ohnaka, but I assume this to be coincidence. The word Ohana means family, or the belief that family is sacred and held together. This might not say much, but it's a start. Also, there is the race they are classified as. Gorr. Races are classified in terms of where they branched out to. Elves went to Teled Methen, Daendroc, Ellador, and Ithania. Humans went to Ellador, Farah'deen, Yang Tzu, etc. So, the Gorr classification seems to suggest being Guldar native, much like an old race. The Avarr.

For those who don't know, the Avarr were a giant, violent bird race. They had an Aztec culture and hunted orcs for their sacrifices. They were removed a while back because they encouraged god RP and throwaway characters. They were hard to play seriously considering that they were to be killed on sight. As such, they just disrupted RP, and were canned to be rewritten or removed entirely.

I bring this up in thought that the Ohnak may be a rewrite of the old Avarr. They may have a tribal, tropical, family oriented culture where the elders controlled everything and they worshipped their ancestors. Possibly, instead of being the hunter, they could take on the role of a game hen, and be the size of a Chi'ien Ji. However, this is just my opinion. Hey, I've been wrong before. And I've been right, on the Wulong and Chi'ien Ji respectively.

Comment below what you think/ hope the Ohnak will be like. Have a Massive day!

But in all seriousness, if it's going to be under the Gorr section, it's probably going to be some kind of orc. It has to be.

If the Avarr are making a return and if they are under the Gorr section as you say, then they will likely be very beastial. Like, some sort of Roc Bird race with little feathers. Or you may be right that they are sometimes named for geography and not just features and could be similar.

The only issue with goblins is the Crelin. They are small green pranksters with elongated features. They are too close the goblins to warrant another similar race. Unless the Crelin get a huge overhaul, I doubt they will have another similar race. Thanks for the idea, either way!

Very cool idea! That would be neat to see. I imagined them to be look more like this:

However, you may be correct. Either way, it would be very cool to see.

I can assure you that the Avarr race will not come back. Ever.
My own guess is that it might end up being some subrace of Orc, but I've not a clue on this matter either so we'll wait and see for the surprise :D

I'll share that 'Oh' in elvish means warrior. Bak might be some suffix or change, especiallysince or cosh is bastardized elvish

So there's no chance that they could be rewriten into a small, more mediocre race?
Like, not as warriors, but as simple tribal people or something.
It would be pretty neat to play colourful birdpeople...

I actually had written a lore page as an attempted rewrite of the avaar. No staff ever looked at it. They were exactly as you described. Colourful tribal bird people who were hunted for sport by the orcs and almost hunted to extinction when humans discovered that they had large amounts of gold in their southern Daendroc villages. I called them the Nuna'Inti. It meant something like Sun Bird in Aztec. It was before the race project, so it's not as fleshed out as the new race pages. I may update it at some point, but it'll probably be rejected by the staff.

You know, with the long snout, bristles, and hairless, green skin, they seem to resemble the Chupacabra, or "Goat Sucker," from Latin American mythology. I'll leave the four eyes to creative liberties. Of course, that is just my interpretation.

I wonder if this is that thing that was going to replace the Slizar? Since Marty did say they were going to be a different race all together.

Probably not these guys. The new Slizar are supposed to be seductive. 4 eyes and a snout ain't something I wanna be doing.

I believe that was just the description that Marty gave for his drawing (painting? Not sure if using proper terms here), or at least what they're meant to evoke/come off as not something they actually are (Though I could be wrong. that's how I read it at least.).

Perhaps this could be the male variety of them? He did mention the males had shorter tales IIRC, they could have four eyes as well.

Though, the Ohnak were hinted at long before the slizar redesigns were teased. Months in advanced.

The Chupacabra is not Mythology.
It is an Urban legend.

The difference between the two is that one makes us seem like we believe in these creatures like Americans believe in the New Jersey Devil.
They make us seem crazy.

An Urban legend, however, is done entirely for fun- at least in the case of "Chupi". Whether or whether not the legend is chosen to be believed by people does not reflect on Latin America as a whole at all.

Enoooooormous necro. Please check the original date of threads posted, this one was over a year old, before you post on them.
