This is a very large care-package, so let's get cracking:

Changes to Ailor:
  • Unionist Will of Faith is changed into a non-redundant combat mechanic for non crp chars.
  • Pagan Faiths is changed to be less same-same as other abilities, and require less explaining.
  • Faith of Estel has all other rings of Power removed.
  • Dragon Worship antimagic field replaced with a shield that is more usable by non-crp chars.
  • Orc Faith had their Physical Stat reduced to 10 instead of 20.
  • Will of Faith was super underused, and also mostly applied to CRP, not regular RP.
Isldar Changes:
  • Physical Stat max increased from 30 to 40
  • Body Shape max increased from Athletic to Ripped
  • Just some flavor changes.
Altalar Changes:
  • Altalar subtypes expanded upon Teledden, Fin'ullen, Suvial, Lesarra and Oberron.
  • Altalar aesthetics widened to allow for more design flavor.
  • Altalar mentality widened to allow for more creative design and character freedom.
  • Altalar aging changed to become optional to choose aging appearance.
  • Altalar aging changed from max 400 to 500.
  • Rings of Power have been removed. They were deemed too power-stacked.
  • the +10 Prof no longer applies to aging, but is given to Altalar at every age.
  • The +10 Prof is taken away if Altalar become aberrant to discourage aberrant defaulting.
  • Altalar chosen 30 Proficiency limit is still the same, but also mentioned on race page now.
  • All new Ability: Will of the Arcane, 3 free spells that all Altalar have by default.
  • Cultural updates will follow for the Altalar in the future to allow for wider traditions.
  • Altalar Rules removed from the Proficiency Basics and put on the Race Page.
  • Physical Stat increased from 30 to 40.
  • Body Shape max increased from Athletic to Muscular for Fin'ullen and Ripped for all others.
  • Altalar Martial Skill removed from lore, it was too powerful in recommended rolling.
  • Altalar Forging Skill is a new Special Proficiency for Nightsilver.
  • Altalar were severely over tuned and super under represented. A lot of Altalar ended up being "xyz aberrant first, Altalar second", and the loss of racial identity was considered undesirable. The stacking of multiple racial abilities also made them very over-tuned. Essentially, Altalar were made OP to encourage more Altalar players, but it just ended up being more aberrant with vague hints of Altalar background. We hope these changes encourage more actual Altalar identifying characters.
Avanthar Changes
  • https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Avanthar
  • Casts were reduced down to 4, but their effects were made more modern with mutations.
  • Casts can no longer be saved up and have to be done in mid-rp to get the effects.
  • Casts are now semi-permanent, meaning they must stay for at least 5 days before changing.
  • Casts can be maintained indefinitely if an Avanthar does not want to change back or override.
  • Casts can now be produced both in a hostile harvesting manner and a peaceful accepting manner.
  • Avanthar were a bit over tuned with the casts, besides we believe that resource management systems are bad. There was essentially too much freedom in their design, while aging wasn't properly factored into racial powers, so now they are a bit more balanced with other races, while encouraging their abilities to be more about roleplay harvesting/transforming instead of doing it in off-rp.
Magic Changes
  • https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Magic
  • Parlor Magic is removed from Lore.
  • Parlor Magic is replaced with Sorcery Magic.
  • Sorcery is split into 8 Categories with 8 spells each and an empowerment spell.
  • All Mages will be given empowerment spells also for those who recruit Sorcerers.
  • Sorcerers and Mages are encouraged to cooperate with mutual benefits and buffs to encourage permission holders to engage more with non permission holders for mutually beneficial relations.
  • Sorcery has its own comprehensive rules, Mages can also buy Sorcery Spells.
  • We re-factored Magic costs for Special Perm holders to make the numbers fairer.
  • Mages will receive a single Sorcery empowerment Spell in the coming Week(s).
  • We'll do a big meeting in the near future where we talk with the current Magic perm holders about their responsibilities in the system and what we expect from them, to earn them having said permission.
  • Our soft cap for Mages has been reduced from 25 to 20, to compensate for the fact that Sorcery is really comprehensive and in many ways even substitutes Magic for some.
Sorcery Releases
Qadir Changes
Clockwork Release
As per usual, all releases are tentative, and may be subject to minor balance adjustments in the coming days pending how players end up using them. Particularly Clockwork will remain closely watched because it is an entirely new concept that has never really been tried before. Anyone who obviously had any kind of character supporting any of the above changes needs to get their Character app re-reviewed! Cielothar Updates and some Physical Stat modifications are still due in the future, but not yet done.
