Backstory/Plothooks

• Firstborn among his siblings, Nikla was groomed for the position of Baron from an early age. Though lame in his right leg, which precluded him from traditional martial pursuits, he took naturally to the liberal arts. As soon as he was able, Nikla enrolled in the Lutherstadt Kriegsakademie to better acquaint himself with strategy and siegecraft.
• Soon after graduating, Nikla returned to Tirgunn to wed Linn Ménard and begin his stewardship of his family's company, Holst Armaments. To expand its reach, Nikla spent much of his youth travelling the Corontium to negotiate contracts and the supply of artillery to those who could afford its purchase.
• In his 36th year, he inherited the title of Baron from his late father, requiring him to delegate control of the company to his sons. Nowadays, he is primarily concerned with the state of his homeland, moreso than his coffers, but is often required to step in and right the course when his misbegotten heirs threaten to bankrupt him.
