  • A new world will be produced, hopefully at deadline around mid September/end of September. Much smaller than Essalonia, and without 1.13 blocks. This is largely to give a wider range of biomes for the players, but also because I think I want to return to the idea of Massive with multiple maps. I'm going to likely buy a new rack machine, the second since the server became mine, to ensure that this server has the lowest latency possible. I could wait until 1.13, but frankly, I like building maps, and I want to take a crack at more unique map construction like underground caverns which I haven't done before, and just making new Bo2's to create more variety. It also tackles the problem of overpopulation on Essalonia because of 0 regal costing factions. When Computergeek completes the 1.13 transition, a 1.13 map will be made immediately after within a week." -Monmarty, 08/24/2019
So, where will it be? Well, let's say where it most likely won't be...

  • Farah'Deen- almost completely desert. This would lack diversity.
  • Sendrass- almost completely jungle
  • Jorhilld- too much snow
  • Far North- same as above
  • Ellador- same as above, but a little less snow.
Where will it maybe be?
  • Daen- like, the whole place. Very diverse, with places like Daendroc, Ithania, Teled Methen, etc. Many of these are places we've already visited long ago, but many new players haven't seen.
  • Fenderfell- another map we already had, but still is possible.
  • Dexai- the homeland of the sihai is possible, as its geography is shrouded in mystery.
  • Drowda- I really hope it's here. It's big but no too big, and very exotic.
So, where do you want to explore in lore? I only names the larger landmasses, not the smallet ones, like Etosil or Hadar. The map would still need to be of considerable girth.

Perhaps Drowda with the resource pack changing the biome colors to be the voidspawn nightmare it is.

Could you elaborate what proper or inversely "improper" snow means?
I said proper actually, but anyhow when we think back, fender, new c had good solid snow biomes, had that coldness air to it and honestly that waow factor, currently if I dig a block of snow in essan, it's not replaced, making building a town there pointless, as it will be raining in the town, but snowing in the country side, I have always loved snow biomes, going back as far as Ithania, travelling through it felt as a struggle as you could barely see with the constant snow, it was a nice touch that fitted in well with the survival aspect, something in my opinion is currently lacking

wherever or whatever it is, please give more islands that are of varying size please.

I'm not super following. I wasn't calling out or starting an argument, I'm trying to figure out if there's a problem on the user end. I haven't actually used Essalonia much besides the river biome, which there's no snow. I have a very peculiar technique for snow biome making because I think it looks ugly otherwise, let me explain with this image:

ccca9ccce792ce1ba4ca31841e2703d8.jpg

This is a random slope. It contains snow, a stone mountain face and non snow. What we can deduce is:
  • Snow definitely does not fall on the grassy areas. These are plains biome.
  • Snow definitely does not fall on the stone mountain (marked in orange) This is because I don't like white lines running across the stone material, I think it looks nicer without the snow having fallen on it, so the biomes of these steep mountain slopes is plains to prevent snowfall.
  • The pink area has snow cover on the floor, but is too low in the Taiga biome to actually spawn snow (since it snows on a certain Z height). So it will always rain there.
  • The purple area is where snow will fall. On an area higher than a certain Z height, and with a slope of a certain % that is lower than 15 degrees I think. All patches of stone there-in, it will not snow but rain.
This is basically "sacrificing consistent snow for beauty sake". I don't like it when snow does this:

I think it looks really ugly, but at the very least, it is super predictable where the snow falls. You can see a clear line and it falls wherever there is a snow block on the floor. Same with this one:

I think this really ugly, personally. It looks unrealistic as hell and sacrifices a lot of the natural beauty of the map's geography to just make things easy. Realistic snow doesn't cover mountains like that:

But the end point of what I'm saying: I haven't "lived" this. I haven't built in the snow biome so I don't know what it feels like to build there. I don't know how cumbersome or struggling it might be to get a nice build going with self-covering snow in a snowy biome.

If you are telling me that the way I am doing it above, sacrificing functionality for beauty, is actually giving you a shitty experience because you want to build a nice base in a snowy biome, I will try to find another way in the new map.

Forgive me if I came across as ignorant during my initial response, I was after a 12 hour shift, I will elaborate tomorrow after work

@MonMarty So will the new world likely be similar to Essalonia in that it joins worlds such as New Ceardia and Fendarfell in having a myriad of biomes? Or like Hyarroc/Ellador where the whole world is like one thing? I'm thrilled either way, I love the idea of a new world.
