So I have a character that I feel would fit pretty well in Massivecraft, named Dymphna Brown, and in D&D terms, she's basically a half-elf rogue proving the edgy rogues shall never die
I mostly just need help with like- place names for her backstory? There's kind of a lot of info I'd need to take in and I'd really like some advice on what to do for that.
Here's like, the basic notes of her character backstory:

* Grew up in a city in a lower class family (she would've probably been from somewhere in Corontium, just not the city of Regalia)

*Started to do pick-pocketing to help support her family, even though it wasn't doing much. She didn't tell her family about this of course.

*She had slowly started to develop her skills, and started doing slightly more risky thieving, like stealing from shops.

*She had been doing this work for about a year. But one day, she returned to her home, finding it on fire, with her parents inside. She had been told it was an accident, but Dymphna thought otherwise. But there was nothing she could do now.

*She had continued being in the city for about a year in a half, learning to fence and other basic forms of defense.

*She then left her home city, traveling to the City of Regalia in order to start a new life, and hopefully forget about what happened to her parents

See? Edgy. Anyway, help would be appreciated have a good day. Here's some art also (if it works correctly, I don't use forums often so I don't know how to do upload file things, lol) dymph lean1.webp

Right'oo So here's the basic rundown.

So Regalia is in a big ass Archipelago that's basically the center for all things going on in the world. Since your character is half-elf, pretty pale and has black hair with green eyes, and based on your name. I'd say either go with the Western Region or Central Region.

Lokinge, which is in the west, might be a good place to start. It's got a good mix of alior cultures such a Anglian (Dutch), New-Regalian (German) and Ithanian (French) which can give you some breathing room to flesh out your character's culture or how they grew up since you're gonna have to pick a alior race and elven race for Dymphna. You can write in that she lived in a city in the Lokinge Region and go on from there.

Or you can opt to settle in Kintyr which is in the center and has the Breizh culture which is sorta a Celtic like culture with Brittany vibes. Same up above in terms of writing what your character did. Here's a list of Cities in the Archipelago toooo. <x>

If you need anything else just send somthing over Discord Bearacuda#9805 or PM over the forums, I'd be happy to help if you need anything else or some more ideas for your character.

thank you for the advice! Also, has the page for Kintyr been moved or changed? Tried to find it, but it said the page isn't there

Funny thing lot of the places don't have full pages and the wiki itself is a bit messy at the moment. But go on this link and scroll down a bit. It's under the central regions. <boop>

As a grumpy and paranoid skeletal vampire professor, I snort rails of edginess before I even get out of bed in the morning and nobody can stop me from enjoying some edge. The edginess you have now is delicious, but here's things to consider:
*She had been doing this work for about a year. But one day, she returned to her home, finding it on fire, with her parents inside. She had been told it was an accident, but Dymphna thought otherwise. But there was nothing she could do now.
Arson, especially murder via arson, is pretty rare. Seeing as it appears to be murder and Dymphna knows it, why were her parents murdered? Perhaps she robbed a gang's officer without knowing it and they thought she was inside when they burned her house down? And why did she choose to rob people instead of find work? Are half-elf women not accepted where she's from?
*She had continued being in the city for about a year in a half, learning to fence and other basic forms of defense.
It's easy to assume she learned self defense after this, but does she know who to defend herself from? Has this made her jaded, quietly paranoid, and afraid of intimate connection? Or had this made her into a always-be-prepared lass who carries a bag full of goodies in case of almost anything? The effects of losing a home, and family, certainly leave their mark somehow. Make sure this reflects in her personality.

And above all, while she might be a darker character and might find herself apathetic in the face of others, make sure that she doesn't push people away too harshly. It can provoke some narratives to say "I won't tell you x yet because I haven't known you for long enough," but if you smirk, sulk, and sass people just trying to meet your character, your opportunities in roleplay might lessen. I say this from unfortunate experience, as the shift from interacting with friends and NPC's from DnD is alarmingly different from convincing total strangers with their own characters to hang around. These questions I'm giving aren't meant to discourage you in any way, but rather, I just want to know your character better and hopefully those questions will help you produce the best your character can be!

thank you for the stuff to think about! I'm planning on editing stuff over time, change things from my bullet points so it fits better. Might make the fate of her parents more vague, more or less to make it easier for me if someone asks, lol.

Also I promise to not make her a "I'm too edgy to talk to people, mOm" type of character, but just someone who wishes to ignore and avoid what happened to her family, and hopes no one asks. She can be a pretty chill person to talk with most of the time

You also may or may not be psychic because that was the original reason for what happened to her parents, lol. In the original version, she robbed (or attempted to rob) a very dangerous group in her city, and they found out, and burned her home up to kill her, and anyone else in the home. I just hate doing specifics because it makes things harder to remember.
And for the occupation thing, I'm still working that out. When I find a specific place where she would be from, I'll find more of a reason for her to choose a criminal life rather than a normal one. Maybe she didn't want to go down the same path as her parents and have work that didn't pay well? To quote from the Half-Race page:
" Their role in society has often been one of difficulties, as Altalar and Ailor alike often shun them as diluting their bloodlines and producing undesirable features."
So that could be a reason it was hard for her, and her parents, to find work

Those both work wonderfully! A bit of comprehension is needed to adjust to the whacky societies that's in the lore, but from what others have suggested, you'll be complete in no time.
