    Personality and Abilities (Required)

    Personality Traits

    • Serious: Nathan has always had a sense of seriousness about him, but this was further influenced by the death of his Mother. He felt that he had taken on a lot of responsibility and slipped into a militant persona, putting all joking and fun aside. Nathan may not have the best first impression on people, but he can always be trusted to stay on subject and never sway for a joke or silly comment. This makes Nathan very reliable. People will often view Nathan as boring, and this can annoy him, as he does have a slight fun side. He tries to engage in interaction with people as best as he can, but they often think he is rather plain.
    • Loyal: After years of Naval training, Nathan has learnt the greatness of loyalty. Whether it is to his family or has commanding officers, he will always be loyal no matter what. Loyalty gets Nathan far, as he always has reliable sources of recources and information he can turn to. He’s seen even greater effects of the path of loyalty from those who serve below him on his vessel.
    • Leader: Being the Captian of his own ship, Nathan has discovered he is a natural leader. He believes this came from his lifetime of following orders, but also his father’s leadership skills. Nathan has full ability to control and command many people, perhaps thousands. However, apart from his ship, he hasn’t really had a chance to show his great leadership talent. He hopes he will find a way in Regalia. People can often lay their trust in Nathan, from both his Loyal and Leading traits. They can look up to him for guidance and know that he can lead them to what they desire.
    • Grown-up: Due to the lack of a parental figure in his recent life, he has grown-up very quickly. He tends to speak down on people, as if they were younger than him, though only with people that he can’t really define the age of. Nathan speaks wisely and very rarely acts childish or messes about. People will often see him as a bore.
    • Harsh: Some believe Nathan doesn’t care about feelings due to his harsh ways, even though he does. However, he doesn’t let it show, Nathan is prepared to be as cruel as needed whenever he wishes. He often speak openly about someone, whether that is nicely or not. Nathan’s harshness makes him a better captain, he just needs to know when to stop acting like one.
    • Thorough: Inspecting, running and commanding a ship is what Nathan is best at, and he wants it done excellently. If everything is not the best it can be, Nathan will not be happy. He will search high and low for imperfections or trouble, both in people and on his ships. Nathan believes this trait is what keeps him alive; A picky man is a safe man. This trait will annoy people when he first meets them, however, once they are used to it, the seem to appreciate it more.
    • Haughty: Through power and leadership comes a slight sense of big-headedness. Though it is not apparent and is certainly not too much of an issue, Nathan can be very arrogant. Whether he is bragging about his position in the fleet or acting above everyone else, there is often a hint of vanity about Nathan. This trait is what mainly puts people off from Nathan. They see him how he is, stuck up, and that isn't very appealing. However, like most of his traits, it is easy to get used to, and can often be brushed off with a chuckle.

    Strengths

    • Speaking: It may sound lame, but Nathan has a lot of power in his speech. He can go from speaking with authority to a crewmember to charming a lady at the Tavern. Nathan uses speech on a lot of occasions, he can be persuasive, intimidating, trustful and much more.
    • Intellect: For a military man, Nathan has a surprising amount of intelligence. He had a very good education throughout his life, and it clearly paid off. Nathan may not be a genius, but he can certainly solve some problems that others cannot.
    • Physically Strong: Being a man of the military, Nathan is very fit and hench. As you can see from his build, he is quite muscular and this can often come in handy when faced with tasks that include labour or strength.

    Weaknesses

    • Brusque: Nathaniel is never afraid to say or do what he thinks and this can often lead him to trouble. Whether it is calling someone out on their looks or even going as far as to ignore a person who does not remember his title. Originating from his Harsh personality, Nathaniel can annoy, offend or even sadden people with his blunt words or abrupt actions. Because of this trait, Nathaniel frequently finds it hard to have serious emotional investment with people, as he is prone to scare them off.
    • Slow: Being so muscular can have it’s disadvantages when in a swift and fast pace fight. Though Nathan is certainly strong, he isn’t very nimble or speedy, and this can often be a problem when fighting perhaps smaller or faster targets. Though, what he lacks in speed he regains in power.
    • Dubious: Nathan is a very cautious person, hence why he is so thorough. It takes a lot for him to trust something/someone and he will often remain quite enclosed until his opinion is certain. He will always approach tasks with a wary attitude, however, this often causes him to slack behind.
    • Weak Left Shoulder: During a and long and drawn out sword fight with an Elven Pirate, Nathaniel was hit on top of his left shoulder, leaving a deep gash through the muscle. The wound took a few weeks to heal after his victory, however, muscle problems can occur. For example, Nathaniel often wields his weapon of choice with two hands, and although his main hand is his right, his shoulder can ache and tighten up after fighting. He can also get aches after lifting heavy objects or cargo. The pain kicks in almost instantly when faced with this sort of hard labour, though it is bearable to begin with. It is usually around 4 minutes before Nathaniel has to rest; when the pain becomes to much. Nathaniel can fight well for a solid 10 miniatures before the affects of the shoulder out way his endurance. However, he finds the problem is solved by focusing his power on his right arm as much as possible, to avoid over working the left muscle.

    Life Story (Required)

A very sad yet triumphant anthem,

Nathan was born into a loving family on the 30th of March, 270 AC. His upbringing was simple and average, as Nathan was too young to take part in the current rising power in his family. He spent most his days with his Father, who was a big inspiration through his life. His father taught Nathan everything he knows, from sailing to leading. Nathan’s mother wasn’t really much of an influence in his life, as she was often around his sisters. Nathan did love everyone in his family though, and he had many happy memories in his early life. He enjoyed his combat training, though it was tough. Nathan wanted to find the perfect weapon for him, so he tested many. He thought a bow wasn't manly enough, a short sword wasn't practical and daggers were just silly. However, he eventually settled with a
Cutlass, as he felt it was good for long and painful attacks, but also worked nicely in defence. He excelled at a fast pace, and soon began to build up strength with his weapon, which soon channelled into general fitness.

His life changed at the age of 28, in the year 298 AC, when his father raised the family to new heights in political affairs, gaining them a barony. By this time Nathan was already a sailor and enjoying his life at sea. He continued with fighting and exercise, making sure he was perfect for his new role. However, Nathan discovered that with his new muscular body, he was less nimble than other sailors. He tried to train himself with new blocks and attacks for faster moving enemies, but he never really got the hang of it. With the new money and fortune, Nathan found it much easier to live both a life of a sailor and that of an uprising political figure. Most of Nathan’s shipmates went home to poor, small and dirty houses, where they didn’t have time to relax. However, Nathan had all the time in the world to enjoy himself and was beginning to settle into his new life. Though Nathan was hard working, he knew when he had to rest and treat himself. Nathan excelled through his marine studies, serving well as a marine solider, shining in leadership as an Officer, and being strict and stern as a commander after a fun time studying at The Regalian College of Marin Commanders. Nathan fought in many battles, losing a lot of friends and nearly some family, However, Nathan pushed on through hard times and managed to study at the Regalian Academy of Admiralty and become a
Captain Of Commission at the young age of 32.

It was then 302AC, and the start of the Elven War. With Nathan’s new leadership and loyal crew, he was excited to take part. He was in the main assault of Thellassia, and led a good fight against his weak enemies. Nathan told his men to bombard any movement along the Medlem Talar coastlines, after hearing of re-positioning of men around Telara Merthwen. The war was won easily, but Nathan was still thanked and honoured for his service and quick action in the face of danger. Nathan soon returned home, but not to good news. He learnt that his father had died, and his mother was seriously ill.
Nathaniel inherited his father's Barony, a once great blessing that had become a curse. As much as Nathaniel enjoyed his Naval life, he knew it could not progress with the burden of being responsible for his father's land. He knew he must do what was right for the people of Lowton and for his family; He would stop his Naval training to progress the fortunes of House Bigge. Nathaniel always wished to become and Admiral, but he had to settle for his Captaincy for the sake of his family's future. Nathan spent the next painful weeks alone, mourning the loss of his father. He spent many days crying and calling out in anger; his father meant so much to him. He always remembered that his mother would comfort him when his father wasn’t around, so he cleaned himself up and went to visit her. In the small gap when his sisters weren’t by her bedside, Nathan sat with his mother. They spoke of the war and how his father was equally as brave in the Crysant war. The shared laughs and jokes and tales of new and old. Nathan remembers one part of the conversation in particular though. He remembers his mother telling him how proud she was, and that no matter how distant they seemed in his younger years, she always loved him with the deepest parts of her heart. Nathan kissed her forehead, the only time he ever kissed her, and exited the room with a tear in his eye. It was the last time he cried. His mother passed away a few days later, and Nathan didn’t hesitate to return to work at sea. With a new crew, and some familiar faces, Nathan set off on a patrol mission, protecting the trade waters surrounding Regalia. Nathan thought it was strange that he could practically see the shores of Regalia, where his younger brother was staying, yet he felt so far away. As soon as his yearlong mission had finished, he didn’t return to his home, instead he set off for Regalia with all the possessions he could carry. He now spends his time in the city, caring for his brotherr, if not sometimes having the occasional dispute. Nathan keeps to himself, stern, serious and strict. But deep down, he is happy.

    Review!

First and foremost, personality traits. You've clearly showcased how Brydon's personality traits affect him, and how they push him to be more cautious and thorough. However, try to go into more detail regarding how his traits might affect others - for instance, does his haughty behavior get on the nerves of his family? Does people enjoy being talked down to be him, or do they bark in reply? All things to be considered.

Secondly, weaknesses. You state that Brydon is a trained swordsman, and is very much on a bulkier side no less. As such, he is naturally less agile and slower than a fraction of other swordsman. I ask you to expand upon his slowness and add an injury he may have received from having been pitted up against a faster swordsman, be it some pirate captain or a training wound. Something to hinder his combat and remind him to compensate for his slowness by training further.

Finally, the life story. You go into great detail regarding Brydon's personal life and rising through the Marine ranks, but there's little to no mention of any proper training he received for his weapons, and as such little to suggest how well he coped with gaining all his bulk and getting accustomed to combat life. As such, I'd like you to expand on the kind of training he did and how he found it.

Tag me once the necessary edits have been made in a different colour, and feel free to ask me any questions pertaining to the review here, @Stark_Trek !~

I have revoked the Regalian Navy special permission for now and set this back to Review in-Progress.

@MonMarty wants to vet at least the first few who take on this special perm.

Whenever MonMarty reviews and re-approved you may post the special perm.

    Review:
    • It is really unlikely that you would use a Longsword after a long career in the Navy. With all of the different lashings and and things, if you fought on a boat with a longsword you'd likely be at such a mobility disadvantage that you would be majorly outclassed against almost any agile attacker. In addition you'd likely do damage to you own ship trying to swing the long blade. Consider changing your weapon of choice to this more logical pick: https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Regalian_Naval_Cutlass If you do keep the long sword as a weapon I would actually even document a little bit how this has negatively effected him during battles at times somewhere in the life story.
    • The template has been updated to remove the exact weight in pounds with a choosing a preset body build available from the list on this wiki page: https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Character_Body_Build
    • One of the things about being a Captain of Commission is that there is no his vessel. It is very unlikely that after his time off he would return to the same ship. I would tweak this a bit to match the experience better.
    • It seems that inheriting a barony was somewhat of a surprise to your character, I would make some kind of conflict of interest surrounding this related to your life's ambition. Maybe not at the Captain of Commission level, but if you move any higher in the rank you would be entrenched in service to the Empire that you wouldn't really have time to pursue your own political ambitions. To bring some authenticity to this, I imagine your character would have some sort of internal conflict about whether he should keep pursing his lifelong work of moving up in the Regalian Navy or if he should start stepping back to pursue his own family matters.
    • Beef up the effect of the weakened left shoulder. Right now it is really vague how this effects him. Is it after 5 minutes of fighting he gets tired or hurt? After a certain number of strikes? What happens if somebody hit him there?
    • Replace Bigot. This doesn't really set you apart from any other high ranking Ailor. It's sort of expected at your level in Alorian society to believe that you are the master race. A lot of your peers will even respect this trait with you.

Hello Stark, just going to run over some character development issues that need to be addressed.
    • When you made the changes to Wing Admiral Nathaniel would have been too young for the position still. Battle Command does not teach the skills required for that roll. A Wing Admiral would have had to attend the School of Leadership. That being said remove it from your application,
    • Under the reign of Charles Montagaard as Undercrown Nathaniel was dishonourably discharged from the Regalian Navy. Nathanial missed three summons and thus was found guilty in absentia. Your special permission is now tied to the characters education rather than a military position as these changes occurred IC.
Please make the change in regards to the Wing Admiral, namely removing it entirely from the application and your special permission may be listed as Expert in School of Battle Command rather than a differing military position. Tag me once completed

The Wiki states: "to reach level Expert, the Scholar must have applied 10 years of field knowledge in wars and military campaigns". By the age of 24, I would well expect Nathaniel to be studying/serving. He has 10 years experience.

Battle Command is a part of the School of Leadership.

This was never mentioned to me. As far as I can tell, this is false.

    - I was not summoned 3 times
    - The trial has yet to take place. Source: https://forums.massivecraft.com/threads/official-warrant-nathaniel-bigge.57667/

    • Battle Command does not teach the proper skillset to be an Admiral. Battle Command is designed to teach Commanders and Officers in the field. To be an Admiral you would need to have been in the School of Theatre Command, I neglected that in my request as I was already in the process of leaving so my apologies.
    • The information I am providing you is on behalf of Lore Staff.
    • If you had no knowledge or feel that this information is not accurate then I will address this with other staff. The punishment and all information was provided by @MonMarty
    • That trial is not what I am referring to.
At this time the least I will request for is that the mentioning of being an Admiral be removed. Nathaniel did not attend the proper school to be made an Admiral. If you did want him to be such he would have to be at minimum 55 years of age and have no combat experience.

We will look into Nathaniel's discharge due to your concerns on lack of knowledge.

Any additional comments or concerns you may address in a PM to myself @Stark_Trek

Alright @Stark_Trek thank you for your patience as this was worked out.
    • Your Court Marshal will be recognized as the one currently taking place for Nathaniel. Whatever the results are will determine if Nathaniel will still be a member of the Regalian Navy so remember to update your sheet accordingly as it occurs.
    • Replace the mentioning of Wing Admiral in the Life Story to say Captain of Commission.
Once you make the singular change your sheet can be reapproved. If the trial results in a discharge I will check in with you to ensure the proper changes are made or whatever the results detail.
