While officially studying to be a historian, the young Black dabbles in writing, treasure hunting, exploration, and multiple arts. Thanks to her successful cousin, she is afforded to get to stay in the House Black noble estate, directly next to the Healing House and Library. However, she still can’t get over the smell from the poor district their house overlooks. Being the youngest of the cousin line, Nat was always babied and treated in an almost mocking way by her older siblings. While childhood was happy and joyful, the teasing was a bit excessive, at least in her eyes. Her parents, Phillip and Helena Black, were about as caring as they could be, raising her at one of the Black Family Estates in Narlas. The girl’s bubbly and reckless demeanor required much overseeing by them, and was a bit of a laughable scene to her older siblings and cousins. Mainly, Natalie would like to see some respect and trust gained from her elder family members, and the crewmates aboard the ship she was given at a small age. Being the runt of the family, the youngest, the baby, Natalie desperately wants some sort of approval and respect from them all. To her, it seems they never have respected, or trusted, her. It has always been considered a woman on a ship to be bad luck, and she desperately searches for ways to prove to them that, with her, that is not the case, and she can be of use. Other than that, she would like to become much better at her study of Regalian History, preferably through the constant assistance from her instructor, Albrecht, back in Narlas. Lastly, she wishes to become more worldly, in the sense of learning more about Aloria, both its present and its past, in every aspect. Visual Information (Required) Spoiler: Natalie Art @Kelpsy Art @MantaRey Art Eye Color: Forest Green Hair Color: Jet Black Hair Style: Long, randomly styled; typically adorned and tied up in the back by a bow. Skin Color: Light tan Clothing: Feminine dresses of a dull black and steely blue hue. Bow in hair. Bear locket necklace. Height: 5 feet 3 inches Weight: 104 pounds Body Build: Triangle Shape. More defined waist; less defined chest. Weapon of Choice: None; Although aspiring for a cutlass. Spoiler: Visual Info -Expansion- Visual Information (Expansion) Natalie’s facial structure is a tinge boyish, but is characteristically classified as a round shape, being rather small with plump cheeks. She possesses a quaint button nose, which sits rather normally on her face, albeit lacking in size. Eyes, however, are slightly wider set on her face and rounded in shape. Nat’s mouth is quite typical and natural shaped, though the lips being a tad thinner. One can usually take her expression as being distracted, as her mouth tends to slightly hang open when idle, and her eyes seemingly wandering. For her hair, it is easily described as a toss up. The girl changes her hairstyle too many times to count, though the hair itself is typically between being medium and long in terms of length; the actual texture and makeup of her hair is straight and thick. Standing at an underwhelming 5 feet 3 inches and 104 pounds, Natalie comes off as rather petite and lithe. However, it should be noted she has a sort of “dueler’s build”, in which her muscles have a dash of tone, and a finite preciseness to how she moves. Most of her fat rests in her low regions, though, possessing wider hips than bust. That being said, her chest is much smaller and less-defined, staying true to her ‘triangle’ body structure. Unlike her female relatives, Natalie enjoys both the sailor aspect of apparel and fashion, and the feminine/noble side of life. Her upbringing resulted in a preference for nice things, enjoying her quite vast expanse of dresses and outfits. Unfortunately, her House doesn’t use the most appealing colours, having to work around looking like she just attended a funeral. Therefore, she incorporates golds, blues, and silver colourings into her wardrobe. Sometimes, albeit rare, Nat will don a pair of pants and tunic, if she has intent to be sailing with her father, cousin, siblings, etc., or if there is some sort of training in place for the day. It is well known by her kin, however, her disdain for pants and how blasted hot you can get while wearing them. Two things are always consistent, however, and they are her signature bow that she fashions to her hair, and a piece of jewelry, a bear necklace her mother gifted her on the girl’s 10th name day. Natalie, being raised in the Archipelago, has a tinge of Alt-Regalisch to her common. Common, being the language she uses the most on any given day. Also, with being young and impressionable, Nat likes to mimic the sailors she idolizes, and sometimes will omit the ‘g’ in an ‘ing’ ending word, or cut off words ending vowels. For example: “Oh? I was just out at the market shoppin’, how’s ya’ day been?”. Her tone is generally bubbly and abrasive, sounding like she just bursted into the conversation each time she opens her mouth. The languages Natalie speaks are the following: Common: The most used, as common is spoken by most in the Archipelago. It has a slight Alt-Regalisch flair to it, but the accent isn’t quite that inlayed. Alt-Regalisch: This was the first language Nat learned, being the House’s native tongue, and what she mostly uses around the house. It is not uncommon for her to start speaking in it by mistake, as she is so used to ranting for literally hours to her siblings in it. Personality and Abilities (Required) Personality Traits Natalie is, for all intents and purposes, an oddball. Always meaning well, but much too eccentric and bubbly for the general populace. Her otherwise kind and sympathetic ways are entertaining and favorable, on the plus side. All in all, she's not the kind of person to bore someone by any real means. Growing up around naval relatives, and constantly accompanying her father on voyages, Natalie has a very adventurous persona. She’s a carefree risk-taker, willing to try and experience all sorts of new things. Her venturesome attitude has allowed her to travel to multiple, exotic areas; mostly with her father, Phillip. Daring, and bold, Nat thoroughly enjoys the prospect of new methods, ideas, and places. It is not uncommon for her to be interested in something new, constantly shifting to her new ‘favourite’ thing she has discovered, nor is it a rare sight for the young Black to be toting about some sort of artifact or item from a voyage, typically having quite the story to tell with it. Natalie is a rather high-spirited girl, her bold and quirky attitude making her appear to be quite bubbly in nature. Since she was a little lass, her father always noted she was an “active gunpowder keg”, as Nat’s lively and zesty way of speaking and acting is very abrasive. Such a way of being still continues today, in full force, and remains a reason why her older relatives still baby her, as she comes off immature as a result of the animated notions. Generally wearing a broad smile, the Black is incredibly eager to converse and enjoy the company of others due to this. Kindness is scarce lost on this one, neither is being sympathetic to the feelings and notions of her peers. Not only just listening and paying heed to another person’s problems, the act of actively working to assist him or her, either through words or through action, is a prideful feeling to Natalie. Her stance of caring for others doesn’t only apply to a certain niche, so she remains quite compassionate to most others, with non-humanums being the only outlying factor. As a result, it is a common sight for Nat to be rather invasive of one’s personal life, typically probing them about some sort of issue or problem she suspects him or her possesses. Jokes and messing about have always been a focal point of Natalie’s life, as a result, making her out to be quite the jocular person. She enjoys being comical with those around her, finding the humor in even the simplest of subjects, purely just to lighten the mood with a waggish feeling. This is most likely due to how her siblings and cousins teased, and still tease, at her. Droll moments are utterly intolerable to the young Black, and she always drifts towards something more amusing if at all possible. Nat hones this in on usually jesting at or with, pranking, or being facetious to those around her, and is known to take things too far, or act on this at inappropriate times. With her jesting and excitable persona, Nat tends to be distracted when conversing or being in the presence of others. She is rather terrible at concentrating, and generally her mind and attention wanders to anything that catches her eye at the moment, even if for a split-second. A recurring expression of hers, in fact, is how preoccupied she can look, hanging her mouth open slightly idly with subtle glances about. This in mind, Natalie is quite in her own world at all times, choosing to hone in on whichever conversation, whatever action, and whomever, whenever she feels appropriate. These acts have always rubbed people the wrong way in her experience, as she often sidelines people entirely, in favour of a random subject matter elsewhere. Probably taking into account her young age, as well as her teasing-filled childhood, Natalie is a very defensive person. She has always been anxious of diverting challenges to her maturity or opinion, and gets prickly when people do so. As a lass, her siblings always picked at her, resulting in not many people taking her seriously as she has grown into her late teens. With this, Nat utterly despises people poking holes in her ideas and coming after her with criticism, to which she replies with much angry gusto in her attempts to bat the challenging words away. She has been prone to become pouty and brooding after having to go on the defense, and it is common for her to try to completely avoid conflict as to defuse this situation entirely. Whether she literally enjoys doing so, or just happens to do this by mistake, Natalie tends to act in a meddlesome way to those around her. Intrusion is not lost on the young lady, and, with her distracted and sympathetic nature, she is prone to prying at others. She is no stranger, because of this, to being scolded or shouted out by an angry conversation partner with how she bursts into their social life rather uninvited. Another thing of note is how she prefers to interfere rather than sit back, typically thrusting herself into a situation to which her presence is uncalled for and unrequested. Natalie, with how caring she is of others, and distracted she can become, is rather oblivious to how gullible she is. Easily persuaded into believing something, her sense of judgement is rather a joke to her closer friends and family. Naive and over-trusting, Nat is easily deceived into doing something or believing something that most others would blow off as false. Coupled with this, people tend to take her as an innocent person, which only angers her more, as it adds to how people mistrust her. Strengths Excellent Flexibility: While Nat is lacking in the strength section, her fitness and small size allows a very dominating proficiency in flexibility. She is able to essentially maximize her range of motion, in most joints in the body. It has been a skill she has put into place mostly on ships and her voyages, where she is generally expected to be up on her feet most of the day. This has also been a big help in the very subtle sword training she obtains, in which it is truly her only advantage to be able to avoid attacks. Empowering: Being a cumulative advantage of her personality traits, Nat is a very entitling person. She is typically sympathetic and caring to others, causing her to do her best to empower people to overcome challenges and issues. It makes her be quite inspirational to some, her encouraging attitude quite welcomed by many of her friends. Historically Proficient: With a goal of Nat’s being to become more worldly, she already has a very extensive knowledge of the histories of Aloria, mostly manifesting itself in the Archipelagos and their respective ruling families. What she hasn’t learnt through literature and study, she has absorbed through her experiences in traversing the Regalian Archipelago, with her father, Phillip Black. She has a real knack for noble families of old and importance, being able to rattle off information about them like a textbook. Weaknesses Short Stature/Lack of Strength: Face the facts, Nat is a small bean. Not to mention, it doesn’t quite play to her strengths in any natural way, as her flexibility has been something she has practiced for years. The girl’s lack of strength is detrimental to becoming the sailor she strives to be, forcing her to practice extremely hard, and rely on others for protection and force. Her shortness has always been a center of lowering her self-esteem, and is a focal point of teases and mocking words from other people. Invasive: Natalie is, of course, a very eager and bubbly person, though this can very often be quite negative. In her attempts to be sympathetic and encouraging, Nat tends to offend and upset others by interfering so heavily in things that are, for all intents and purposes, not her business. Distractible: Distraction is common for the young Black, and she has much trouble focusing on most things that don’t interest her. Worse so, she tends to wander her mind when bored, tuning everything out, in favour of something she enjoys. Her instructors used to pressure her father to pay more for her education, as her inability to sit down and listen was, and still is, much too common. Even now, Nat has heaps of problems with keeping her attention honed. Spoiler: Personality Info -Expansion- Personality and Abilities (Expansion) Quirks: Natalie has a few prominent quirks that appear frequently in her daily life. When prompted with a family name, or a very important historical date, Nat feels the need to go “textbook mode”, and recite random facts. This is typically blown off by most the first or second time she does it, but after the third or fourth, most folk tend to question what she is doing and why. For example, say the Coen Family is brought up in conversation. She is bound to randomly say aloud something along these lines: “House Coen...Sigil is a wolf. Silverwolf, actually, with the main colours for the family being purple and black. They’re smiths, and make some of the most popular crafted weaponry and armour in the Empire. Their patriarch is William Coen, the Grand Lord of Galloweg…”. It is generally very specific, and even more so, completely random and out of place. Natalie, typically when she is lying or is confronted with an uncomfortable situation, fiddles with her hairbow, or twiddles her thumbs. To her family and close friends, it is a telltale sign usually. Being a jokester, Natalie tends to use the same joke over and over again, as it remains funny for her for some time. It is a quirk of hers to randomly begin giggling quietly, and quietly say whatever is so funny aloud for others to hopefully partake with her in it. Noted, they never find it funny. Skills: Natalie has a few skills that don’t necessarily apply themselves as focal parts in her life. Baking: Natalie, thanks to her grandmother and mother, is quite the good baker. However, she tends to only stick to various tarts, pastries, breads, and other baked goods and sweets. Since she was perhaps about six, Nat has practiced with the two aforementioned at this skill, mostly just assisting before she reached about twelve, where she was afforded to work on her own. Writing: Putting pen to parchment was always a fond pastime of Natalie’s, and she has grown quite proficient at it. Thanks to her noble background, she is a fluent writer in her native language of Alt-Regalisch, which is a bit of dying art, but much respected due to that fact. She prefers romantic adventures to write, but also has a flair for authoring various drama-esque pieces and mystery novellas. Talents: A couple of natural talents Nat has are the following: Singing: Ever since she was a young girl, Natalie has had an affinity for singing. Her voice type is in the Soprano category, being able to reach up to about a c6 before catching. She typically enjoys sea shanties she picked up from the sailors she travels with, and some House Black songs, and doesn’t care too much about a more professional pursuit in the hobby. Acrobatics: This one is much less practiced, but it is a benefit of her commendable flexibility. Nat is able to do many gymnast-style routines, such as cartwheels, handstands, and even front and back-flips (thanks to her small size). Likes Ships/Sailing: Maritime vessels, have to be Natalie’s favourite...well anything. Ships in the physical form, the concept of sailing, or the culture and environment it entails, is all very gripping and exhilarating for her. She even owns a ship, like most House Black females do, named promptly “The Sea Cub”. Her liking to this leads Nat to even go as far as to idolize people like her cousin, Christopher, and her father, simply for the fact they sail and are naval men. Poetry: This form of writing has always been intriguing and very romantic to Natalie. While she longs for it in a way, as it is a form of writing she has no talent for, Nat settles for simply reading it, or receiving it. She is an avid collector and supporter, and makes frequent trips to the library in order to collect the latest works from Regalia’s most accomplished poets. In her room, she even keeps a rather large novel chock-full of nautical poems, being her most prized and favourite works from anyone. Lemons: The smell, the colour, and the tangy, lip-puckering taste that a lemon possesses, are very interesting and favourable to Natalie. She uses the sour fruit a lot in baking, a fun fact being her favourite food are lemon tarts. This mostly comes from, as a child, she planted a lemon tree in the Black Estate Gardens in Narlas, to which grew lemons for many years, and she used them in practicing baking. It being one of her fondest memories, the fruit is a nostalgic reminder of a simpler time. Adventuring: While captaining a vessel is out of the question, Natalie still thoroughly enjoys exploring and adventuring with her father, Philip, who captains her vessel, The Sea Cub. Together, the two have visited most of the famous ports of the Archipelago, her favourite by far being Lampeport. It is a goal, even, of hers to visit every major port in the Empire, all preferably with her father. She tends to bring back knick-knacks from her adventures, usually showing them off and boisterously re-telling the tale of how it was obtained. History: Being a student of the subject, History is a favourite for the young girl. Funnily enough, most teenage girls are rather put off by the boring subject of Regalian History, butbut Nat heavily enjoys such a study. Dislikes Insults: These tend to rub Nat the wrong way, almost always. Even if they are spoken in a more jokey manner, Natalie still despises insults from people. Ironically enough, she has no issue dishing them off, only really disliking them when they are directed at her, or someone she cares deeply of. This mostly stems from childhood, when she was jestingly picked at for her size and attitude, developing into slightly malicious insults from her peers as she grew, but only in age. Singing for Others: Despite having a talent for the act, Natalie actually quite hates having to sing in front of people. She much prefers singing in private, or idly singing, but never directly for an intended crowd. The act of it is very daunting, and she gets rather anxious when asked to do so. Being “Babied”: As a child, she was always seen as the baby of the family. This was nice and all, until she got older, and it was still the case. With being the youngest, and being babied by her family, comes a protectiveness from everyone else, disallowing her from really being independent. Due to all of this, any belittling actions towards her, or treating her as if she is irresponsible or the like, makes her quite disgruntled. Organization: Natalie has always been an organizational mess. In her room, everything imaginable is strewn across the place, not bothering to put anything away, make her bed, or anything. (Though the servants always sneak in there and put it all away). If things are prim and proper in her whirlwind of possessions, she can never find them, and just tosses everything about until she does. Organization and Natalie just don’t blend well...ever. Dogs: A cat person herself, dogs are not in the favour of this young Black. While she understands how they benefit Regalians on a day to day basis, she dislikes nearly every aspect of them. Nat sees them as rather unsophisticated, dirty, and smelly. As a child, Natalie spent her time waddling after her older siblings, the closest one to her own age being Klary, at 6 years older. While mostly just tolerated by the older ones, Nat really idolized her eldest brother, Eric, who was always very kind and loving to her. She has rather fond memories of Eric, who always toted her around like a princess to many things, and was her favourite person up until she was about six in age. Such a relationship didn’t last, as things were expected of the eldest son, leaving poor little Nat to go to chasing Klary and Reuben, or find other means of entertainment. For some time, Natalie followed her two older siblings around, wanting to be included in everything they did. Klary and Reuben didn’t care for this, in fact, they constantly teased the six year old Nat, excluding her from many things they did. Obviously, the teased, wee little one chose new activities, and found her entertainment in the form of her mother, Helena, and her grandmother, Beatrix. Nat learned much spending time with granny and mother; things like baking, singing, and fashion sense became more common knowledge to the young girl. - 10 - 18 - As Nat grew up, she learnt more of becoming a lady in waiting, and all the skills that came with it. However, her bubbly and risk-taking attitude could not be contained by singing and dancing, and became ecstatic when her father, Phillip, gifted her a ship on her tenth birthday, which she named The Sea Cub. From this point on, Natalie spent much of her time clung to her father, who taught her the ropes of being a captain, despite her having no chance of becoming one, and went on various explorations throughout the years. On her 18th birthday, Nat was met with the surprise of the opportunity to head to Regalia, as to involve herself there with the main line. More specifically, get in touch with her cousin, Christopher, whom she had a similar relationship with as she did Eric. However, the two hadn’t seen each other since she was small, the same going for her brother, Reuben, who was there as well. So, she boarded The Sea Cub, got her cat, Grizzly, and set sail for the Empire’s Crown Jewel. Spoiler: Life Story -Expansion- Life Story (Expansion) - I - Springtime was on the horizon in Narlas, this year of 286 AC being expected to be a rather warm one indeed. Outside the birthing room, on the various couches in the parlor, the other children of Helena Black, and Phillip Black, the husband, patiently awaited the news whilst carrying on some small talk idly. After what seemed like a few hours, a nurse peeked her head out of the double doors, a polite smile on her features as the Blacks peered to her with curious expectation. “It is a baby girl; the Lady Black is all set and you all can come in, if you’d like.” The lot headed in, laying eyes on a rather runty baby girl, swathed in black and grey blankets in the mother’s arms. It was generally all smiles, from the little 6 year old, Klary, to the 40 year old father, Phillip. Helena spoke in a calm voice to her husband with a broad grin, the two of them exchanging name ideas. Eventually, Natalie was decided upon, as well as the middle name of Helena, after the girl’s mother. Her siblings took turns getting to see the small little bundle, the oldest at 14, Eric, taking a particular liking to his baby sister. The bells rang all day after that, being March 30th, and the servants took the time to ensure the baby’s room was prepared properly. - II - Natalie was a rather boisterous toddler, always needing to be looked after be a servant, wet nurse, or a family member. Although, her eldest brother, Eric, took it upon himself to be her little carriage. He would always tote her about, carrying the small toddler on his shoulders around the estate, gardens, and even in town and by the docks, much to the amusement and pleasure of the parents. Even at such a small age then, Nat still remembers very vaguely the feeling she got from quality time with her brother, who seemed to have all the time in the world for his princess. Unfortunately, that changed quickly, as Eric had his own daughter whilst Natalie was just six. Time quickly became scarce to deviate to Nat, who had to find another way to find entertainment and fun. The six year old Natalie saw how much fun her older sister and brother, Klary and Reuben, were having together, and began to dawdle after them constantly. For that short year, those two middle children were rather mean, at least in Nat’s eyes, to the child. They were tight, and much older than her, therefore excluding her from many things and teasing at her size and attitude. Picking on Natalie became rather routine, and being a small child, it didn’t rub well, and she took it all rather seriously. Soon enough, though, Reuben was off at a school, and Klary was on her way out to a Strategos education in Vixhall. What was the girl to do now, with all her siblings gone? Thankfully, her grandmother, Beatrix, came to stay at the family estate with Phillip, Helena, and Natalie. The elderly Black took an extreme fondness in her youngest granddaughter, and implored Helena that she spend time with them both, as to prepare her for life ahead. Instead, Nat found them first, fawning after some sort of companionship with anyone, but particularly enjoyed the company of her mother and grandmother. With them, she took much interest in how they occupied themselves all day, and how close of a bond the two formed as mother and daughter. - III - Starting at around eight, Natalie began spending the most amount of time with Beatrix and Helena, learning the day-to-day of a noblewoman, though plenty of fun times were had as a result. Firstly, Nat’s mother honed in on the young girl’s natural gift of voice, and began giving her personal singing lessons. It was apparent she was uncomfortable from the start, so Helena found an easy way of helping her learn by holding the lessons outside in the gardens, where nobody was around. The young girl was beyond gifted at the art of singing, and began to really excel under such a dedicated tutelage, especially due to how her mother cared for her so much. The stage-fright of others hearing her sing never really faded as a result of the sheltered learning, but knitted a rather unbreakable bond of trust in her mother, feeling all the safety and warmth of a mother’s care and affection. Natalie also received some more training in acrobatics from her teacher, Juliano, an accomplished master of the art. It was easy to see early on that the girl had a natural advantage for the sport, with her small and lithe frame, and strong calves and thighs. She was, at least in her parents’ eyes, too rambunctious and daring for such, though, and would often practice her flips, somersaults, and handsprings in not the most stable and safe conditions. This resulted in a short termination of her training in acrobatics, though Nat retains the talent even today through vague and casual practice. Beatrix, Nat’s grandmother, was always known for being a knowledgeable and sweet woman, extending only further in her advanced age. The liking she took in her youngest grandchild was immense, and very much decided to pass down some of her skills onto the young girl. As a result, Beatrix took the time to teach the now ten years of age Natalie, the art of baking. Most manifesting itself in the form of sweets such as pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods. Nat had a real knack for the pastime, and a humourous preference to anything that involved lemons. Oh, the lemons. The fruit was like a delicacy to her, to which she decadently partook in, even to the extent of eating the fruit raw. Natalie even went as far as to drag her mother out to the gardens and help her plant a lemon tree, baking goods with the fruit the tree bore. - IV - However, growing older meant more responsibilities were to blossom, which thankfully, little Natalie accepted with open arms. When it came time to pick a study, Natalie opted out of the coveted military education her sister and older brothers chose, instead wanting to learn more about the great Empire her family played a part of. Phillip, her father, enjoyed the idea of having a scholar as a daughter, and suggested a study in Regalian History could suit the demeanor of a girl like her. Naturally, Natalie was beyond excited at the prospect, and begged her father to send a tutor as soon as he possibly could. He obliged, as finding a tutor for such a popular subject was no issue, just finding one suited to her...learning disadvantages would prove the worse task. Phillip called in four potential tutors, whom all sent letters to educate the young girl upon her father’s request to History experts. Natalie experimented some lessons with each of them respectively, but one really caught her attention. Albrecht Achterberg, a retired professor at The Regalian College for the Marine Commanders, and an expert in Regalian and Naval History. Despite his old age, Mr. Achterberg possessed an uncanny amount of patience and a good sense of humor, perfect for the bubbly noble, and a stern hand, equally as perfect for the same reasons. Under his vigilant hand, Natalie excelled at her lessons, both developing a good friendship with the man, whom she continues to learn from now. As her learning progressed into more mature years, Natalie struck a longing interest in her father’s naval life, more so his adventures on the seas. Upon turning twelve, the young girl begged Phillip to take her along on his voyages. In response, her loving father did her one better, and gifted her the coveted ship that every House Black child receives on a birthday. It was almost too much for the girl to handle, and in her eagerness, dubbed the vessel: “The Sea Cub”. At this point, and with the adjusting of her education, the two would begin their adventures the would continue for the next years to come. - V - Natalie traveled from Lampeport, to the Ithanian ports, and most other seafaring cities and port-towns the Empire had to offer. Aboard The Sea Cub, and her father captaining the ship and crew for her, Nat found herself creating her most cherished memories, even till today. At this time too, upon visiting a domestic cat breeder in a Vixhall port town, Phillip gifted his daughter another cherishable present, a pet cat. Natalie of course got to pick the animal out from the breeder’s options, and eventually decided on what seemed like the surprising choice. Despite the merchant’s warnings about how that specific cat had no use, as it refused to catch vermin, and wasn’t even pretty for show, Nat was adamant. Phillip conceded to get the grumpy looking, squishy face cat, his daughter naming the lazy feline Grizzly, after the family sigil of a bear. Natalie, with her newfound furry friend in tow, explored many more exotic and interesting places with her beloved father, returning for months at a time for closer history studies and more development of her other talents and skills. The young girl improved much more on all of her subjects, and only became more wild and a handful for the family. Being from an Alt-Regalisch, patriarchal family, Nat understood, and even embraced, the concept of women not fighting, captaining, and the like. Though, she still felt a tug to the wild side of things, and thought it would be the most wonderful thing to be able to swing cutlasses like her brothers, and captain ships like her father, and cousin, Chris. However, such a thing would never be possible in her position, and she would need to find an alternate means of immersing herself in such an appealing concept. As a result, Natalie took up to reading and writing, finding herself engrossed in the novels of great nautical, adventure, and romance authors. Multiple days were spent toiling away in the estate gardens, or at night, in her bed beside flickering candlelight, or even in the tossing and turning cabin of a ship, flipping through page after page of story, poem, or novel. The adventures of the characters spoke the strangest things to her, knights who slayed powerful dragons, and pirates who plundered rich merchant vessels on the great seas. As if a candle was lit, an idea popped into Nat’s head, one of writing her own tales. With the help of her history backgrounds to give her content, Natalie took to authoring her very own small novellas and the like, for her own personal viewing only, something she never showcased to others. The writings and parchments stayed locked away in her desk drawer, quite hidden from the outside world who would impede on their innocent stories of fantasy. - VI - As Natalie neared her eighteenth birthday, she knew it was nearly time for her departure to the Holy Crown City, as expected for her talents and education focus. As excited as the young woman was to get to spend time with the family patriarch, Duke Christopher, a pang of sadness was felt in her gut for having to leave her parents and grandmother, who she cherished so much. Not to mention she’d have to retain her studies through letter with Albrecht, which wasn’t quite the same as face-to-face instruction for someone with such a short attention span.
