On the opening steps of the Mountain Chain civil war, Ludwig Fuchs sailed to the Mountain Chain to prize himself as a leader for the rebellion. Supported by Rabin Nazim, Bruno Braxler and Aldan Mikel, they landed on the main island near the guerrilla's, nagociating to be their leader. Farik Al-Faris and Kama'l Vilamorte sailed onwards to the Rebel fleet to try and convince them to join Fuchs. Upon seeing the Qadir on the ship however, the Rebels opened fire thinking them pirates, promptly sinking Kama'l's ship. Both Kama'l and Farik were picked up by a fisher somewhat later and dropped off further south on the Isle of Batista.

Fuchs managed to convince the guerrilla army to follow him to Lindes, where unknown to him, the Coen's had quickly moved in with support of the Sictors, Psanandarions and Lamperouge families to bolster the defences. The great bridge of Mountainfort was to be the first opening battle of the Mountain Chain civil war, pitting 1000 Coen militia, 400 Lamperouge troops, 100 Psanandarion and 100 Sictor troops against 1000 Rebel guerrilla's. The population of Lindes was overjoyed with the quick reinforcements, as ignoring this small island would have surely resulted in its doom.

William Coen led his own people on the frontlines, supported by his friend's kinsman Walter Lamperouge and Rhoghash Ironmonger. The Coen militia took the frontlines while the professional reinforcements were at the back. The lack of morale among Lamperouge and Psanandarion troops was evident, many of the soldiers had lacklustre posture and many refused to go close to the front line. The trouble at home was heavy on their mind, and the outcome of this battle would surely influence the social stability of Vultaro.

On the other side of the Bridge, Ludwig Fuchs supported by Rabin Nazim and Bruno Daxler stood on the front of the guerrilla's, fervent troops wishing the utter destruction of the Coen family. Aldan Mikel gave the tactical orders, though not particularly wittingly, as he simply sent all troops across the bridge in a full frontal attack, hoping the fervor of the rebels would break militia morale. This was a correct gamble for most of the part, as the guerrilla's were better armed than the militia armed with pitchforks and no armor. The bridge became a bloodbath, and while the militia were loyal to the Coen forces, many of them fell for their loyalty. As soon as the militia rabble broke, the Coen side was forced to retreat to their half of the bridge, while coen forces were still securing explosives to the bridge underneath. The battle raged on for half an hour on the bridge.

William Coen fought gloriously, holding the front line successfully and helping many of the wounded militia escape, while defending their rear. Walter Lamperouge also distinguished himself in combat, assisting William closely by his side. Rhoghash on the other hand, was very absent. It was thought that his head was full of "bred", and he could not focus on the battle. Ludwig Fuchs was meanwhile pressing on with his Bodyguards Bruno Draxler and Rabin Nazim. Rabin Nazim in particular distinguished himself as an able fighter. The Fuch army had meanwhile cut trough 500 militia and caused the rest to route, only fighting the professional troops. It was eventually Tristan Lamperouge's decision as tactician to trigger the explosives on the bridge. As the explosives started triggering, Bruno Draxler dropped his weapon and ran away from the battlefield like a coward, while Ludwig and his Tigran friend stood ground. The explosives however were right beneath them, blowing the stone apart. Ludwig was badly wounded and the blast sent him into the Coen lines. His Tigran friend managed to escape, the blast throwing him off the bridge before swimming back to the Rebel side.

At this moment Aldan Mikel raised the retreat, as the isle of Lindes could no longer effectively be attacked. With the bridge blown and no ship support, the Rebel army retreated north, now under the effective leadership of Aldan Mikel. Ludwig Fuchs had been blown unconscious, meanwhile captured by the Coen forces on their side of the Island. He was promptly put in chains and sent to Regalia. William Coen decided to follow the most politically safe route and send him to the State Council, to let them decide his fate. The Coen forces themselves left the island, however heavy with losses. The Coens and Lamperouges had lost half of their troops, while all Psanandarion and Sictor troops had been wiped out.

The Isle of Lindes was "saved" for the rest of the war with the bridge blown. The cliffs could no longer successfully be assaulted and the defences of the town itself were sufficient to prevent any coastal landings. The population returned about 100 troops to the militia army, bolstering it back up to 600 total. The guerrilla rebels had only lost 200 troops however, marking this battle a strategic victory for the Coens, but a tactical loss, having suffered 4 times as much casualties.

In Vultaro and Thessalonikon meanwhile, rioting started again in full force at the news of /more/ troops dead in a far away war that held no inherent advantage to the people of the east. In the Psanandarion lands, the locals clad high erotic images of their ruler on walls with the Duke of Vultaro in unspeakable positions, while using them as practice boards for rotten tomato pelting. In Vultaro, looters seized shipments of the already suffering coal prices, instead using the coal themselves to fuel their housing with much needed fire fuel, causing severe financial problems for the Lamperouge coal traders. The Crown Prince in a surprisingly open move, came forward and delivered a financial contribution to the coal traders to prevent them from bankrupting, but only just.

The people of the Mountain Chain would never allow themselves to be ruled by Dwarves. Just an Fyi.

A black-bordered flyer appeared in almost every civilised nook and cranny of Thessalonikon, handed out by remaining soldiers as the riots went on. The flyer read:

In honor of our fallen men, who died for the good of Aloria in the name of the Holy Emperors Theon, Alfred, Heinrich and Immanuel, the Council of Thessalonikon governed by her Highborn Theodora Antigoni Psanadarion are to hold a national remembrance at midnight tonight. Civilians are requested to attend a sermon at their nearest Unionist chapel, church or cathedral. It is heavily encouraged to acquire candles to light during the sermons. The great cathedral of O Vasilikis Apo Dikaos in the city of Iliosakti will ring it's bells thrice, and all other bells shall follow suit. Remember your fallen who died for your safety, protecting you from the rebels outside. Regarding the offense of the defiling images, the remaining troops shall be ensuring any and all images are removed from public view. Long Live Thessalonikon, Long Live Etosil, Long Live the Empire.

That night, Unionist priests adhered to the requests, ringing each and every holy bell in Thessalonikon in unison. At the great cathedral in Iliosakti, the wailing woman cried and the monks chanted the rites of passage into the Imperial Call, their voices a sorrowful lament to the fallen. Theodora sat in the Regalian Cathedral, not wishing to return to Thessalonikon until the pictures were removed. She lit a single candle and set it above the candle table, tying one gold and brown ribbon around it, tears falling from her face.

    "Yperaghia Autokratos soson imas..."

Though dwarves are fair and just leaders. They see everyone as equals. Men, women, and children. We would bring peace and freedom. And if they don't like us being dwarves, they can just look away. Dwarves are citizens. I don't see many people who are racist to them.

The sea air breezed past William's cheek as he stood at the bow of the ship heading back to Regalia, eager to report the victory, but quite melancholy to the deaths of the brave loyal citizens of the mountain Chain. Their deaths were not going to be in vain. He looked forward to the trial of Ludwig, expecting justice to be delivered in a swift manor. William has never been an executioner, he was going stand by his morals and be just, even with the rage of those he once served in Regalia, as well as those he assisted in his Duchy betraying him building up inside of him.

"Its saddening to see the greed of man pushing others to their deaths, I hope this one accepts his fate with courage, unlike his enclave." He turned to face Ludwig, kneeling down to look him in the eye. "The council will decide your destiny now, I wash my hands of the evil that is people like you. I will not be your executioner, I am here for my people not to kill a man for his ignorance"

He would turn away once more, thanking the divine for the friends and family he had, as well as to thank for all of those brave souls that have stayed true to their rightful Ducal family. "Tristan, Rohghash, Walter... Thomas, Ulric, Ser Sictor, and the Highborn Theodora, I thank you deeply from the bottom of my soul. We will restore the order to these lands, and the people shall be at peace."

Ludwig looked up towards William, a small smirk forming on his lips after his little speech. Once he turned away, he replied with a quiet, yet rough voice: "You... You know what is really saddening?". He waited for him to get his attention back, once he did so, the smirk got greater despite his heavy injures. "It's saddening to see the lazyness of man pushing others to their death.". He stops, looking him directly into the eyes for a few seconds before he goes on "This all would never have happened if their glorious leader did something for his people. You are neither worth, nor capable of ruling over this landmass. They are looking for someone to trust, and someone who understands them. Someone who actually takes actions. Like me.".
He removes his gaze from William, the smirk on his lips fainting as he looks down at his shackles, however not for long. "You know what's funny? Usually I am the one who brings people into shackles."

He stood quiet for the rest of the shipping, no visible emotions could be seen on his face after the conversation ended. He tried to avoid eye contact to his ex co-fighters from the Elven Wars, for the rest of the time. Maybe Ulric would return the favor Ludwig did him, back then in the Temple of H'relllen?

Tristan Lamperouge was mostly quiet after their victory. The first battle had been a success, but the fight had cost him 200 more dead men. Tensions were high among the remaining of his forces and he felt their eyes judging him the moment the battle had been won. Even with a victory, the Lamperouge army had doubts about their Duke and those doubts only increased when the dead were rolled up and massed together. Tristan still felt like a stranger among his own people and he had wished that he had been more involved with them throughout his life. They were proud people of the mountains and most of them had only recently left the coal mines to answer Tristan's summons. Again, he felt their disapproval for his actions and he made a quick decision to transport the fallen back to Vultaro so he may properly put them to rest. Before he left, Tristan found William and his prisoner. Tristan had heard talk among his surviving army that William planned to give the rebel leader over to the council and intended to bring it up quickly before he left.

Approaching William, Tristan had a grim look on his face but he offered his friend a small smile. "The day has been won and you have your first prisoner." He nodded to Ludwig's back as he was escorted onto the ship by several Coen soldiers. "If I were you, I'd cut his head off and make an example of him." He didn't attempt to hide his disdain for the greed of men and instead pointed it out to William. "If he had been the victor and you the loser, he would do the same to you... Still, I commend you for doing this the lawful way, if what I hear is true. I will speak with you in Regalia when I arrive. I have dead men to bury and I have rioters to appease to or before long I might be in the same position as you."

With that, he placed a hand upon his friends shoulder and gave him a quick smile before turning to leave. He had made his decision already before he even left the Coen lands: If he were to be involved with this war, he would risk the lives of his men only when he absolutely needed to. That would not stop him from fighting in this battle, though; he doubted the people of Vultaro cared little for his life.

Aldan smirked as he remembered the satisfying glory of slicing the Sictors soldier near in two. "If only it had been Damon, the damned coward is probably skulking back in his estate. If he were there.....now that.....that would've been a fight to behold." Aldan thought to himself.

Clearing his thoughts and turning back to the map he had laid out upon the small table. They had received a tactical victory over the Coens at the Battle of Mountainfort Bridge. But they had still failed to acquire their prize, and had lost Ludwig along the way.

With another glance at the map he had on the table he turned towards a messenger he had to his right and gave him, well, a message to carry. He then sealed the message with his insignia(A Red Sun above a white field surrounded by Red triangles) and set the boy on his way, the destination of that only he would know.

As the messenger swiftly mounted his horse and galloped out of Risor Aldan watched. As soon as the boy was out of sight he turned to his men and started Shouting orders. This war was yet to be over, and if these men planned on anything other than defeat, then they would need to muster under one banner, Aldans banner. Then, then there would be a true war, a war to be sung about through the ages.

As the men set out he heard a feint whistling, what sounded like pipes. It didn't play a happy or dark tune. But one meant for this time, a driving, inspiring tune. And for the first time in days, Aldan smiled.

Shayin, hearing the news of the recent battle, wondered if Thomas would at all take a stand during the war. He was definitely ready for battle; he had hone his Evergrowth skills to the max, and was confident that this next time he would not end up being crushed by that he valued more than flesh and bone. Shayin only hoped Thomas would allow him to test his own abilities in actual combat, rather than petty street conflicts in the Holy City.

Kama'l looked around at waht his ship turned, he and Farik sitting in a small plot of wood in the middle of the water, he let out a little " Glub " attempting to be funny at the end, but he would notice the small fishing boat nearby and smirk.

((oh my sweet baby jesus so much stuff happened.))

Upon reaching Batista's safe groud, Farik denied all of any rest, food or grieving with either grunts or hand-gestures, as he refused to speak since the 'fight', fully concentrated on finding a boat for their return to Regalia, despite having lost one of his adopted boys in the massacre. Finally taking a rather small, public sailboat, they set course for the capital. Farik spent the entire boat-trip in deep meditation and forbade any food from being brought aboard.
