Her forearms and hands are marble-white, with six fingers on either side, tapered into clawed points. She wears a shroud of funeral garb, black dressage clinging to her frame. The insects can disperse, and reveal the visage of Morrigan, eyes sunken and glowing a violent icy blue, expression lacking. | ⛧ | BACKGROUND INFORMATION || Raised To Be Great ✧ Hailing from an unnamed town on the Emerald Isles, to Aontaithe parents, a classic backstory of early-deceased family and a life of living on the streets, with a small pendant from her mother to cling to. Her mother and step-father raised her until she was eight, before both passing suddenly- leaving Morrigan with the jarring shift to an anti-magical town dominated by Wirtem culture. ☼ At the age of ten, she was taken in by a circle of Hedge Witches, a group of individuals who, prior to her joining, incited distaste for their practices, to the point of Witch Hunts ensuing regularly. There, it was common superstition for "Witches" to carry curses (spell components, generally) in their pockets, and so pocket-less clothing was commonplace. ✧ With a collection of notes and spell components, at a very young age, she began her efforts of climbing the ranks. Her mentor aided her attachment to the veil, wherein she proceeded to pour every waking moment into study, trying to make a name for herself. Meanwhile, she maintained a steady living under the name of Morgan von Greulich, as a Funeral Attendant and Mortician for the local morgue. ☼ After several years, to the age of nineteen, she kept up with her studies and practices of uncovering and creating magic. When she'd earned enough, she lived aboard a ship for the following six years, earning her keep with work amongst Fin'ullen seafarers. During which, she met the cat she totes around to this day. ✧ Seeking information and magic beyond all else, Morrigan came to Regalia, spellbook tucked under her arm, and not much else, leaving her seafaring life as a mapping assistant to spread her magical studies to the curious of Regalia. ☼ Life in Regalia is bleak. Lightning is black with outlines of orange, flames are black and tinted orange, constructs are solid black and outlined the same orange. This is, however, all flexible, and oftentimes only appears under certain conditions. Her magic is innately self-made, leading to the colours changing wildly. Magical Aesthetics. Homemade and scrappy. Pagan Witchcraft inspired rituals, candles and chalk, fire and smoke, complex arrays of hand gestures, magic circles, material components, and uttered phrases. Morrigan's magic is innately mathematical, because she taught it to herself in pieces of formulas. Rarely does any magic occur by emotional interference, as her casting is meticulously crafted and carefully controlled. She has no overarching aesthetics beyond "dark" and "witchy", stemming from eerie and gothic roots and tying into her theme of death, influenced by her work as a mortician. When in critical condition, her magic effectively fights for her survival, her body marked in patches of inky black magic actively fighting to keep her alive and standing. Magic Combatforce. Keeping in line with Morrigan's calculated casting methods, even her Combatforce (something, along with certain Spells, she has personally dubbed "Battle Magic") takes on precise hand movements in place of weaponry. Practiced gestures make way to blades of fire, sharpened rain water, sharpened sheets of metal, condensed lightning bolts, waves of glass shards, environmental alteration, constructs of ink-black arcane energy, and much more. Magical Talent. Morrigan does not have a Magespark. However, what she lacks in innate skill she more than makes up for with personal prowess and advancement in her craft, striving to be on par with and surpass many Born mages through study alone. She is a powerful caster regardless, studious and careful with every small detail, sure to memorize and review incantations and gestures to a T. The Hedgewitch Circle. Morrigan grew up in a basement. A Hedgewitch hideout, of the magically gifted or aspiring. Thirteen people, including herself holed up in a warehouse basement, using it as a safe haven. Initiates were brought in to safely practice magic from prying eyes, learning a couple of basic spells before they got to choose their own. Conduits and Wandmaking. Morrigan has a strict set of personal rules, to always use a Conduit if available, and to cast sparingly if not. She was raised to believe that Mages are funnels between the material plane and the dimension they draw from, and that casting without a conduit draws unnecessary amounts of magic in unfocused bursts. To pass time, she would aid the Hedges' wandmaker in carving and enchanting, and has since become versed in the art of personalized wandmaking. She recognizes differing beliefs, but strictly voices that inexperienced casters should not go about casting through their hands as a party trick, and to leave free-handed magic to the professionals. Making A Living. While learning from the Hedges, Morrigan had to make a living somehow. Such came in the form of Gothitech engineering and work as a Mortician, learned from a stoic Wirtem man in the town, countless nights spent simply lounging in the graveyard studying. She went by the alias Morgan von Greulich, though even such pitiful work came to an end, eventually. Morrigan was found out as a Witch, leaving soon after. Fear. Despite living on the sea for a portion of her life, she cannot swim, and hates the idea of free-floating in open water. She also just hates heights, and the sick feeling of looking down from up high. She has a deep seated, irrational fear of open flames, something she doesn't know how to rationalize due to the memory being repressed. Destined Familiar. Morrigan's Ailor Familiar is a gray tabby cat by the name of Boat, with shiny blue eyes and a collar made of braided twine. She met her on the ship she lived aboard, and has toted her around to this day. Boat has been stripped of magical properties and exists as what she once was; Just A Cat. Dietary Restrictions. Morrigan is obligated to be vegetarian, for contractual reasons with her Hex-Demons' mother. This is fine by her, as she dislikes meats regardless, and serves only as additional coverage for fairness. Additionally, Morrigan is allergic to honey. Moderate Hearing Damage. Morrigan's hearing, in either ear, is mildly damaged due to the Bralona Generator's explosion(s), as well as continual gunfire. While not deaf, she has trouble hearing low voices and struggles to keep up with quick conversation. Extremely loud noise causes headaches and eardrum pain, especially sudden sounds like yelling or gunshots. A Sacrifice to Avinla.
