Born to Ilyathiel and Arvel Cavaal in a rather affluent manor-house amongst the mountaintops of the Land of Forever Autumn, it seemed that Meriya was fated towards a life of average proportions. Her childhood was strictly guided and uneventful, often disciplined alongside her siblings by her father; a stern and experienced Ordvaan with rickety hands that could barely hold a blade any longer. She was educated in the Estellon Faith from a very young age by him, taught to praise Sinnavei’s name in all that she did, taught to fear the Mist and its seductive wiles, to never set out upon paths untrodden. Her mother, a splendid warrior of great repute within the Velincaran region trained her more apt siblings in the way of a classical Sollerian Warrior, whilst Meriya often watched from the balcony of her home, lamenting her lacking skill with many kinds of traditional weaponry.

This uneventful childhood would continue far into her teens, a slowly budding warrior in her own right with some talent for warfare blossoming within herself far behind her siblings; she was afforded an opportunity to avoid bringing shame to their household. She was instructed to step into the fog, onto a path that was left unmarked, to follow its trail, and to return home after she had found herself to be lost. So she did, she pursued the trail that the fog seemed to create for her, it bowed and bent to her whims, stirring around her ankles and enveloping her in its comforting embrace; it appeared to not be the foe she presumed it to be. At least, until she stumbled upon the grove of the Guardian Gryphon Uvaal, who had long since roosted within the grove for centuries. Staring down upon the unwitting lass the great Gryphon spread its wings and bared its beak to her, inspiring her with great awe at its majesty, but great fear at it’s ferocity, and grasping at the Fog that cloaked her body she drew from it a Fogbanner, a great Azure Banner of Fog that she waved around frantically as she fled, she escaped with her life, and a parting blessing from the Mist. It had chosen to heed her call henceforth.

This event had left her altered, quite severely. With her Magical awakening well underway it was cause for great celebration and pride within their family; a born Mage, manifested of the fog, with skills uncharted by the common scriptures taught to many Mistwatchers. This child would excel, she would bring great joy and prosperity to the Cavaal. Meriya was no longer viewed as a mild disappointment, but instead as a source of great pride. Despite this, her siblings did not show jealousy, but instead chose to nurture their sister’s newfound talents. She would spend much of her time training alongside her Siblings in the following years, discovering that her great Azure Banner would not only provide her with a far greater aptitude for weaponry, but also attracted a great number of smaller beasts of the fog to her side, from hawks bowing their heads in reverence to hounds baring their bellies towards her, the banner appeared to be a symbol to be revered by the smaller Fogbeasts of the land. Henceforth she invoked the wisdom of the Guardian Gryphon Uvaal into her actions and her movements. She was fickle of body and still burgeoning of Magical talents, so she would use her mind to excel until the rest of her caught up.

And so this dedication to training her mind before her body continued forward into her days in the Academy, a great sprawling complex primarily occupied by members of the Priesthood and their protegees, with some smaller populations of more focused Warriors and Artisans. Meriya found herself belonging to the former of those two things, despite her somewhat lacking aptitude in direct combat, it was in her talent for indirect combat that became somewhat recognised. She was a team player, and quite an excellent one too, often giving rousing speeches during team huddles and issuing pivotal orders and commands to her compatriots during team-based spars. As a duelist, she had a guard full of holes, but as one who sought to control the battlefield she held herself with immense poise and grace, and honed her Magical abilities toward that end. Sometime during those years of arduous training she’d learned to harness the Myst to shut down and control the movements of particularly troublesome foes, the swiftness of her fellow Solvaan proved to be a hazardous trait for herself as one who thrived in the backline, so she learned to excel in denying those movements.

Meriya graduated from the academies in her thirties and immediately set out with a party of her classmates to volunteer to the Mist Wardens, Meriya was fully acknowledged as a member of the Mistwatcher Cult during her first couple of years on her first tour. That first tour lasted most of a decade, longer than most typical tours of the lands, but she chose to remain to be especially thorough about mapping and gaining knowledge of the Sollerian lands. During these years she was afforded many other encounters with the mythical beasts of Solleria, becoming intimately familiar with them, but also the many manifestations that the Fog itself created to challenge and test the Wardens on their travels.

This moderately peaceful existence in the Sollerian isles continued long into the coming years, still a vastly inexperienced Mistwatcher in her own right she sought to learn more and returned to the lands of Forever Autumn to once more study under the priesthood there. It was here that she gained her first larger exposure to the other-faithed minorities within Sinnavei’s Priesthood, those Solvaan who had chosen to take up the Dragon’s Dogma or the Unionist Faith. She spent many weeks indulging in the presence of these minority groups and their visitors, Unionist Celates sent from Regalia and beyond, Draconic Dignitaries from Anglia and Kintyr, she started to truly appreciate the diversity of ideals and customs that the Regalian Empire allowed to exist within it’s borders. It was this diversity of mindset and belief that truly inspired her to lay down her blade for the Regalian Empire’s sovereignty. All doubts in her mind were assuaged.

This calm came to a particularly abrupt halt with the birth of the Azure Order, who’s ranks tore into Sollerian lands during the height of their terror and spread trepidation through the lands, though as Sollerian Coastlines were and are, the perpetrators were more often than not beaten and then expelled from the lands by the skilled Spellblades. Meriya stood alongside her Sollerian brethren in these tasks, taking in a series of Aelriggan knights and offering them some shelter in the Autumnal lands, occupying groves and resting sites that the fog obscured all entrances and exits of, impenetrable yet makeshift magical fortresses to keep the foes at bay. These internal squabbles were cut short by the emergence of the Ranger Crisis in 295AC, where Meriya and her roving band of Wardens were commanded, as Mercenaries, to assist the Regalian Forces in the jungles to the West, and so they did.

Meriya’s time within the Regalian Military did not quite stop with the end of the Regalian Crisis either, she proved to be pivotal for the small teams of men she led going into the First and Second Songaskian Wars, the Lo Crisis, the Bone Horror Crisis, the Dread War and the Long Elven War. She witnessed the destruction of the False Estel at the battle of Curag Fields, witnessed the annihilation of Montagaard Forces by the Allorn Artilleries, and the many successes and failures of the Marshalry during the Dread and Sendrassian Conflicts.

After a long time of remaining independent and indifferent to much of the Regalian State, accruing a great wealth as a Mercenary, Meriya sets off for the Jewel of the Empire; Regalia. Here she encounters many old friends from her days of traveling, alongside kindling new bonds with old compatriots. The rest of her story remains to be seen.

This is a small section at the bottom of the Application to introduce some of the character's most defining features, topics they may know about, events they partook in, and the niches they fill that other characters can play off.
    • Meriya is a HUGE follower of Sinnavei, and abides rather perfectly by classic Sollerian Doctrine. She has an unshakable belief in the sovereignty of the Regalian Empire and hails it as the last bastion against the destruction of the world's order, her belief in her Goddess' foresight and instruction is unending.
      • Characters who follow the faith of ESTELLON will find both friendship and theological conflict with Meriya. Allorn Revanchists will see especially vigorous opposition, but once again, if they are useful to the Regalian City and State, they will be used.
      • Characters who are interested in a heavily Sinnavei/Regalia-Centric view of Estellon, and interested in converting to the faith in a way that focuses more on the position of Elves in Regalia will find plenty of assistance and guidance from Meriya.
      • Cahal who appear and act as faithful as they ought to will receive Meriya's favor, even those they have previously done battle with.
    • Meriya finds her roots in a battle-loving Mercenary, though this core has shaken in recent months, it still remains a central part of her character. Whether it's hunting people to enact Solvaan Contracts, hunting Mythical Beasts or simply doing battle, Meriya will likely be interested.
      • Meriya treats War and Battle as an Art form and a method of Sinnavei Worship, it is rare that Meriya will strike a foe to kill, but instead to rout and incapacitate. Warriors are beautiful and talented and ought to be preserved so she may fight them again.
      • Particularly fearsome Warriors and Mages will receive Meriya's favor, be that in the form of fear, respect, or potential comradery if they fight together.
    • Meriya is not a duelist.
      • Duels will be rarely accepted by Meriya, for she is not a solitary fighter. In fact, Meriya is quite terrible in solitary fights, and instead relies more on the underhanded nature of striking alongside her allies. She is a Supporter, and encourages those around her to excel where she cannot.
      • Those who are seeking to better themselves in the art of fighting alongside their allies, engaging in group tactics, learning of formations and interplay between character skills will find guidance and support from Meriya.
    • Meriya is a Noble, the Countess of Halvei
      • Members of the Nobility seeking to involve themselves with Elven customs and culture are more than welcome to approach Meriya and House Cavaal.
      • House Cavaal's Court is notoriously focused on information, any character can come forward and present a particular culture, trait, fashion or curiosity to the court and earn their favour if it's entertaining.

Your point spread looks pretty good, although I'll say it's a bit too diverse at the moment. Judging by this point spread, if you didn't have a core concept written out I'd assume this character is a "combative sorcerer and smith" due to the sorcery, combat, AND metallurgy there. I'd suggest either removing the metallurgy or sorcery, though the former moreso than the latter since a magically-inclined mercenary is a bomb aesthetic to have.

@Acosmism Hi there, sorry to be a bother. I would like to change my 1 Progression Talent Point currently invested in Sorcery to be changed to General in lieu of her time spent as a Mercenary Commander. Would this be okay?

@Acosmism Hello! I have replaced Unarmed Combat with Spear Combat, and shuffled around a few points. Element Control 4 has been replaced with Astral Projection 1.

A few small changes pertinent to the addition of Silvenism, the character's eye colour has changed, and the traits of a Pride and Excellence Silven have been added. A small addendum to the life story has also been made.

Please specify (Void) in parenthesis next to your Magic prof. Make sure you put a note of Blooded Vampire on your Abilities list. Edit these minor things, and you’re good to go!

@Stellarrix Few edits for ya to make. Vampire points/abilities allocated to Spell Point Buy do not confer Spell Specials. Following the 3 specials per point buy ratio, you are allowed to pick 6 specials and with 2 invested. Currently 6 over that limit, so adjust this please. Make sure you also edit your Fury Silven special on your ability section to include Lord Judged as this has been added. Tag me when the edits are made.
