This is what I have for Quin, my other characters I have a loose playlist but I feel like for a character this is the most solid theme/connection to them, where I don't feel like I need entire playlists or multiple songs for them.
here's a theme song list of my best bois- I actually have a much longer playlist for each of them but let's go with just one each for now
He's been running around most of his life as a ghost of himself
In his case, this is also his voice claim, and it reflects (for him at least) all the self-hatred from his past self- it makes more sense when taking his backstory into consideration
In his case it's close to home, since he's also a second child with a wild spirit. It also makes a lot of sense since he ran away from home (technically)
He's a bug of a boy- keeping a young soul even at his age, double points because this Yanar likes bug boios
Hey, I'll cheat and drop the whole playlist that really gets me in the villainous mood to play Shadowman: [x]
But, if I had to choose from a single song, it'd definetely be Hey Little Songbirdfrom Hadestown. It was this song (and the character of Hades from the show) that inspired the character, alongside other obvious influences here and there (Dr Facilier, other typical Disney villains). I feel the deceptive twists of truth that go on throughout it really demonstrates the general vibe I try to achieve with the character. And if you haven't checked out the whole musical, you really should :fingerguns:
similar to oka, i'm also having a hard time restraining myself from linking a full playlist, however i don't have as much restraint, so i'm still doing it but being sneaky about it. (not really)
from that playlist though, i'd say these are probably like.. the most fitting to mae? so go ham
Alright, I know this is old but I wanted to do this for real so might as well. I figured that it'd be nice to talk about songs relating not just to my character, but to my experience on Massive overall.
Aboard My Train
First song I chose was "Aboard My Train" by Kevin Morby. The meaning of the track is something pretty easily picked up on first listen, and it's always resonated to me overall in day-to-day life. It's practically an ode to all the people you've met in your life, whether they're still there or someplace else entirely. I know all the time I've spent playing a single character can be ridiculous from the outside perspective, but it's a song like this that reminds me the fun to be had with it. He's a character based around every person I've ever met on the server and he, and by extension, me, wouldn't be the same without any of those experiences, even the minor. It's the sort of attitude I feel myself, an optimistic look back of appreciation that comes out all the time in roleplay.
Even If You Don't
On a more lighthearted note I have "Even If You Don't" by Ween, which has always reminded me of my antics online for some reason. It's practically a song I'd sing in character. Romance has always been a highlight for me on the server because, at the end of the day, its Minecraft roleplay, you can have as much fun as you want with it. You don't have to worry about coming off too strongly and confidence flies at the whim of your fingertips. The bounciness of this song just brings me back to all these dumb moments where I would throw out the most ridiculous pick-up lines that came to pain at the expense of who was on the other side.
I Know
Additionally I have "I Know" by Dear and the Headlights, which is practically cheating for this, because it's always been an insanely personal song for me and one of my favorites overall. It's another one that doubles for real life and online. Earlier I joked about how depressing roleplay gets over the years, but I think the charm I've found in it even after all these years rests in the fact that it's my own little narrative in my control. You can put together the most sappy over-the-top emotional nonsense and by next week it'll all be wrapped up. This track doubles for me and my character because it always reminds me to stay lighthearted in matters. I could be having the shittiest day and I throw it on and by the end I'm like "hmm, do I really have to be that upset? Maybe not." To an extent I always want to give who I'm playing traits I myself would like to follow, so no matter what dumb bs happens with Marini, I try to make it so that I can switch everything around and have it all turn out fine. The ending of this song is so powerful that I can't help but imagine singing it with everybody out there who's added so much to my life even if they've never realized it.
This is probably a lot of unnecessary thought for fucking Minecraft but I've been thinking about it so I thought I'd might as well share.
Big Sivrid Sorenvik vibes, and also her voice claim. And it's a spooky folk tale about spinning and weaving, so also fiber art yay Tongue-Tied : Emily Portman
