I just wanted to make this a simple post to think of what it would be like if Massivecraft, was a game, I would personally think it would be awesome, because they could make it so you can edit you character, I would also think this is bad because Minecraft has it's own traits that make Massivecraft a fun place to play, pvp, or rp

Tell me what you think

Disclaimer:
I am not trying to make any gossip or rumors, I am not a admin or apart of staff, and I dont think this will happen for a very long time, if not

I always thought a MassiveCraft launcher would be cool.

Whenever I think about playing Minecraft, I don't refer to it as minecraft, but as just going to play Massive.

It's not already a game?! WHAT HAS THIS UNIVERSE COME TO?!

But seriously, if they could make it so different from normal Minecraft that it was basically a different game with similar styles I would be overjoyed :P

but only if they have a bank function so that I can foreclose on people who never pay me back...

:P

For the same reason Massive doesn't use mods, it lowers the player base. A lot of people already have Minecraft; this would just lower the chances of new players.

My thought for how it would be done is just recreate Minecraft with the plugins in the Unity Engine. Could make it look very good. Plus you could create custom hi res models for your own character/race to make RP alot more immersive and PVP operate more smoothly...

At first this seems awesome, but if it hasn't been on Minecraft, Massivecraft would just be your average run of the mill WoW knockoff, The thing that makes Massivecraft unique is how it makes Minecraft seem so different, almost like an entirely new game, take away that and its just an MMORPG, nothing special about it.

It would be cool if you had to only use that launcher to connect. Not sure if that is possible, but it would really cut down on people using hacked clients.

And also cut down on our player base overall. If anything, it would just add extra things that aren't required to play the game, and don't affect you if you aren't using the launcher.

I was imagining it like other modpacks where you can choose from a long list of mods to install that you want to play with that are legal to use. If it was required to use, all of the current players would probably be fine with switching since it:
  1. Allows them to install mods easily, such as mods like Optifine, MorePlayerModels, BetterPvP, Rei's Minimap, DamageIndicators, TabbyChat, Macro Keybind Mod, etc.
  2. Most long time players wouldn't quit only because they are too lazy to just download this new launcher.
This might take a while to make, but it would help a lot to reduce hackers (Though I'm still not sure if it's possible to force someone to connect with a certain client, if anyone knows feel free to correct me :)).

I have another idea for a MassiveCraft game, alhtough its not really the same.

In my version, the player would have to play through the POV of a certain player and go through te lives of that character, usually takes place during disaterous events within their lives. By this, its basically a Survival RPG Game, some examples, though not entriely the same would be the Games Ib, The Witch's House, and Mad Father. Although these games are horror, but if you'd play or watch a lets play of it. That's how my version would be.

Same art style? Or.. Just the same premise?

Launchers as such are becoming increasingly frowned upon, particularly after the OpenSSL security errors. Mojang has instructed players to only input their login credentials into the official Minecraft launcher. Mod installers are Ok, but that seems an unnecessary reduction when it can all be done with optional clinetside mods and plugins.

As for a separate game, I think that's an interesting idea though not feasible in practice. I feel it would have to focus on the RP side of things to prevent it slipping towards normal MC or typical medieval MMORPGs. As much as I like the idea of a more realistic and vibrant environment, it just wouldn't be MassiveCraft. MassiveCraft is made for Minecraft, I don't know what it would be without that.

It'd be kinda cool if Massive had one of those old text-based roleplaying games or MUDs or something.

...As a stand-alone game, on the PC and such, nuh. Just nuh.

However, I wouldn't be impartial to say...A rule/Lorebook for tabletop paper-n'-pencil RPs or such. Much like stuff like Shadow Run. One of those things you /just might/ buy IRL and possibly get other kinds of RP'ers around here.

But, in the end , the way we're playing it now? Keep it. It's how we run. For reasons I've seen above.

IT WOULD BE MORE POPULAR THAN SKYRIM!

unless you are all really REALLY rich, you wouldn't want massivecraft to use more advanced player models because if we where keeping the building element, it would kill your standard prebuilt machines and seriously slow down the decent gaming ones... Then you have the servers, high render times which would create lag, and screw the game... That is why minecraft works, the low graphics output allows for higher cpu focus on rendering multiple chunks... Nice idea, but meh, its already a game in its own right when they added mods/pluggins and server rules

Ok, so here is what I think.
I am already designing Massivecraft as a game. The only problem is that I couldn't code it in a hundred years. (Ok, I could, but not 10 years.) But what I have been designing is awesome. The problem is I can't make it a reality...

@Sully , I was being sarcastic.
Being sarcastic on the internet is a terrible idea!
