Life Story Childhood - 0-10 Maridenne was born to Alicia and Daniel Morgann, her mother an Oberron Altalar woman and her father Teledden Altalar, both native residents of Kintyr though under scrutiny. 9th January 242AC. She was raised in a fairly typical home, with some amount of wealth due to her father’s military successes. Maridenne was raised learning how to dance by her mother, who worked as a street performer and entertainer for the local Lords. Her father was a frequent gambler, and even owned a small establishment for gambling in his later years in which Maridenne would run about and speak with the local aristocracy and those looking to make it rich. Teenhood - 11-20 At the age of 11, Maridenne’s mother passed suddenly from illness, whilst their familial situation was entirely rocked by the event, they had enough financial security to move on in their lives. At the age of 13, Maridenne’s Father remarried, though the woman he became married to despised Maridenne for the closeness she shared with her Father, and endeavoured to have her ousted from their home. Stealing from them, breaking things, and starting rumours about her father’s adulterous actions. Attempting to unveil these as lies proved negatively in Maridenne’s favour, she was seen as a ‘girl who cried wolf’ and her Father, smitten with his new wife, opted to cast his daughter aside. This would see the spark of a burning hatred for promiscuity and femininity in the girl. At the age of 14, Maridenne ran away from home, and was later found by a wandering Great Oak Knight named Tyrok, who took her under his wing, the two travelled for some months where Tyrok would teach her more of the world about her, and taught her of swordsmanship. Something that Maridenne picked up quite readily. At the age of 16 Maridenne departed from the care of Tyrok to attend a proper Great Oak lodge, far on the outskirts of Contyr. At the age of 20, Maridenne had graduated from the school of Great Oak, and moved on out into the world. Adulthood - 21-60 At the age of 21, Maridenne’s travels along began more properly, she travelled to Brixoid, spending a short amount of time amongst the Leutz people as she learned some additional types of swordsmanship and working small jobs to save up money to continue her travels. At 22, Maridenne travelled south through Vultaro, working multiple menial jobs before getting into mercenary work. The pay was good, and made more use of her skills. She made a modest living travelling alone and taking up jobs where she could. She gambled frequently, and proved to have rather immense luck, earning herself something of a reputation. At 23, Maridenne passed through a small village during one of her contracts, coming across a fellow travelling Breizhman who spoke in extent of the deeper tenets of Nature Sorcery, and spun tales of it being the selected skill of the Green Knight of Contyr in his fight against the Altalar that made attempts to enslave the Breizh populace. Buying into these tales, Maridenne agreed to allow the hermit to travel alongside her, and thus learned two spells of Nature Sorcery, namely Brambling and Woodland Grace. At 24, Maridenne travelled West toward Ithania, spiting it as the culture to which her father’s mistress belonged, she intended to see what the place was like. Impressed by the strength and talent of Ithanian Knights, she stayed to spar and train, and rarely interacted positively with passing women. At 26, Maridenne departed for Regalia, where she would be met with a brief period of Nobility, alongside a reunion with her Father. The two fought rather readily, until blood was shed, after which they made up to something of a tentative peace. Her Father tried to manipulate her for money to send toward his Mistress, which resulted in her casting him out. Departing from this bout alone, Marissa moved on with multiple of her allies to the newly forming School of Tenpenny, in which she studied more preliminary combat tactics that her Grandfather had glanced over in favour of teaching her the longsword. She attended the school for the requisite two years under a mentor, and remained for several years afterword to tutor those after her with a blade. During a raid on a nearby village, her left eye was struck and permanently blinded by the blow. She opts to cover this with a patch. At 31, Maridenne concluded her study into the arts of Nature Sorcery. Desiring to learn more, she read into the subject on her own during her travels, parting ways from the elderly hermit to study the arts of Spirit Sorcery alone. During this period of self-reflection and study, she became something of a reserved hermit herself, she spent much of her time in contemplation and travel, enjoying the serenity of a basic and quiet life. She learned the One Path and Overwhelming Force spells, gaining a sense of enlightenment from her study and a feeling of unmatched control over her body and mind. Concluding her studies, she would return to Contyr to pass on what she had learned to others. During her travelling alone in search for her Enlightenment in Spirit Magic, Maridenne taught herself to hunt small game in the forests of Contyr, this eventually developed into a hobby that spent much of her time during these years, challenging herself with larger and more aggressive prey. But without proper tutelage, she could hunt no more than deer and large stags on her own. She remained teaching here until her early fifties. Later Adulthood - 50-65 During her early fifties, Maridenne once again departed from the forests in which she resided to travel to the Altery Lands, to educate herself more on the natural world out of a flash of curiosity spurred by the use of her Nature Sorcery, she pursued the Yanar population of the realm to discover more of the study. During this period, she spent four years to offer witness of the miracle of Growth, and she learned the Evergrowth Spell. Following this, she pursued her mother's lineage with little beyond a name and a face to go by, she found little, but made many friends amongst the Oberron Altalar of the deeper forests. Finding peace in leaving her mother's trail as a loose end, Maridenne returned to Contyr at the age of 63, to return to Regalia at the age of 65.
@Arendan Removed becoming a Knight of Bloodcast from her life story, instead being homeschooled by a Tenpenny veteran. Changes are marked in Green.
Edits completed as of 20-09-19: Aged up to age 43. Changed up the proficiencies to suit the new system. Extended the life story to accommodate for this older age.
@Antimreoir Claimed. Only a few things wrong here. Under prof points available you've listed '43'. Minor edit but change that for the reviewers own mental health. Highland Ceardian is also not a language, its a dialect of Common. So basically an accent. No need to list that if you don't want to, but I have to clarify that it does not have its own language. Fix those then tag me.
@BillyTheScroofy Changed the points to 45 to suit. Removed Highland Ceardian from the languages list.
@BillyTheScroofy Finally got back around to updating this sheet for the Hobby Points update, since 10 points were used I'm requesting re-review. I did make a number of previous changes, namely:- Athletics was scrapped entirely, Maridenne prefers to end fights quickly as she doesn't have the stamina left for longer onslaught. This was replaced with extra skill in Shielding, and the introduction of Dragon Knowledge. Heavy Bows was added from this pool as well, gained through her stint in the school of Tenpenny. Also removed 5 points from Blades because Virtuoso permission is no more. - Though the tag hasn't changed.
Further updates are pending following a decision to incorporate some Sorcery into her character, these will come soon. As will a change of tag. Edit: Tag changed!- Life story has been updated with the addition of Sorcery and some division of her proficiency points.
@Nesstro Apologies, but the app has undergone some very considerable changes, and I'd like a re-review.
@Nesstro Some more changes have been made as the result of a poll settling my indecision. Full-Blooded Oberron, raised in Kintyr. Altalar Bonus has been applied, and proficiency points have been shuffled around, all points in GREEN have been altered, some skills removed. This will be the final alteration I'll make, as I'm finally content with what I have and will work with this.
