Family members, who are also on the lighter end of the skin tone spectrum for Songaskians, venture that there might've been a paler ancestor in their bloodline. No one can seem to recall who this may have been, exactly. In addition, his height of 6'0" designates him as being smaller than the average Songaskian, too. His eyes, similar to all in his race, are a fiery amber. Below each is a thin, curved rectangle of crimson body paint which stretches the full width of both. His hair is a bundle of long dreadlocks tied and held back in a ponytail by a carmine length of satin, with two locks of differing length hanging freely at either side of his face. He wears a shabby dark red collared long coat with large dull golden sleeve cuff buttons. Beneath is what can be most easily described as being exotic pirate/sailor-like wear, accustomed for warmer temperatures, and a necklace of sizable wooden beads. The fit is completed with a pair of decent quality leather boots. 《 ☼ || LIFE STORY || .ೃ࿐ 》 Born the youngest of five in a small city on the southeastern coast of Malifant, learned tattooing from mother, initially a studious child but fell into delinquency with his 2nd oldest brother, Haji. Time came to leave home and decided to take after Haji, got into further crime such as drug dealing and then they fell into a rather diverse traveling gang who had a portfolio of criminal activity, Haji met a criminal who was also a martial artist, learned from her Took them across Farah'deen, eventually to Regalia because it's a big city which means big opportunity, however, this did not occur and so they tried their luck in Ithania instead Were doing alright but then Maman realized he should be independent to truly prove to himself he doesn't need to tail his brother, returns back to Regalia since he was also enthralled by it all and decides to want to make a living there. Spoiler 《 ☼ || LIFE STORY || .ೃ࿐ 》 « CHILDHOOD » [268 AC - 281 AC] Maman was conceived and raised in a small city lying on the southeastern coast of Malifant, the youngest of five in a lower middle class family. His father, Bakari, served as a dutiful guard who stayed out often as per his captain's requests. His oldest brother and oldest sibling, Bakara, who Maman deems the friendliest, followed in his father's footsteps with great eagerness. The concept of being a protector was savory in his young adult mind. His mother, Awa, had established herself as a supremely talented communal tattoo artist, fulfilling tawhroon requests and more for customers both local and from surrounding villages. With the great deal of free time outside of schooling that youth grants, Maman learned and studied the trade under her supervision alongside his 2nd oldest sister and 4th oldest sibling, Chichima, who Maman deems the uplifting one. His 2nd oldest brother and 3rd oldest sibling, Haji, who he's deemed the hooligan soul, quickly became his closest confidant. Though a devoted lover of learning, the pull of spending time with his brother overcame that devotion when the opportunity presented itself. There were simply more fun to be had. Many days that could have been spent at the local public academy were spent meandering in search of excitement and unwinding and over time the brothers' drifting eventually covered the seedier parts of the city. Maman steadily became more delinquent, much to the chagrin of his oldest sister and 2nd oldest sibling, Drissa, who he deemed the studious one. She was an astronomer in Korbamakora, and received letters from back home written by concerned parents detailing the general ongoings of the household. In due course, there came a reckoning for the brothers' activities, when they casually stole from a market stall. To the heavy disappointment of all in their family they were both slapped with penal charges and, while the charges were lenient given their age, their reputation and status were greatly diminished. ----- « ADOLESCENCE » [281 AC - 293 AC] . What continued was a further descent from delinquency into criminality with his brother. Petty pickpocketing and swindling had become standard fare at a certain point for the duo, Maman the younger brother following in his older brother's steps diligently. But Maman had begun to relent in his confidence and comfortableness with these acts, while Haji seemed to give the idea of ceasing no consideration, and had even begun committing muggings. It was during this period that Maman was set to leave the house, however, and with not much of a plan and socially disgraced in his city, he simply tracked Haji down to join him in his endeavors - which he discovered was dealing in various drugs and alchemical substances. [Cutting this section short because of word limit, gist is Haji joined a gang diverse in race and side occupation, some dancers and musicians (which is where Maman meets a martial artist and criminal specializing in burglaries named Bandorah and learns from her on their journeys, also learns dancing from financially struggling circus performers), and since cryostims were becoming more popular around this time (281-282 AC, they got heavy into drug dealing (opium, too),) they got business hopping town to town, city to city across Farah'deen on Sandmaws, eventually found their way to Regalia, because it's a big, big city (and where else would business be best to conduct?)] ----- « EARLY ADULTHOOD » [293 - 309 AC]. What was left of the crew that decided to stick about, including Haji and Maman, found themselves burned out from trying to gain a foothold in any kind of substantial market in the capital and made a decision: it was time to depart from the city and seek better opportunities elsewhere. After long deliberation amongst the group, they settled upon Ithania. It was around this time, too, that the brothers heard of their homeland becoming embroiled in war, which made it all the better to remain away until things cooled down. They did wonder about their their family's well-being, as it had been some time since they'd been in contact with each other. Maman made a spontaneous decision when a realization came upon him that he had not left his brother's side in years. He would make it on his own, not out of spite, but for the sake of the education one receives by living independently. Returning home was considered an option, but, ultimately, the Songaskian would not return to Malifant as he could not bear to see its bleakness after the devastation of the war. ----- « WHY REGALIA? » [309 AC] Entranced by the city itself during his short stay there and eager to truly be on his own, Maman decided to embark on a trek back to the Regalian capital, despite the recent violence. Even if he might struggle to do well in the initial months or years, he remains based on a gut feeling that he could discover more about life and himself in the city than he could have back home or elsewhere.
