Hello people of MassiveCraft,
This is both a complaint as a suggestion. Well, the title actually says it all. There are a lot of rules which never were mentioned but you can get punished for it. I find this unfair. Why? Because, what if you're a noob, you just joined the server and you love this server after 5 seconds. However, you got permabanned for something you didn't know that it was bad. You read the rules like 15 times, but still don't find the reason why you got banned listed in the rules. This can ruin someone's feelings about the server for good.

A few examples:
Spawning a Withers is illegal: Not mentioned in the rule section on the website!
Putting a roof above your whole faction: Not mentioned in the rule section on the website either!

You get where I'm going here? I find these two rules a little logical, but still. Is it fair to punish someone for rules that actually only exist in the server's mind, but isn't mentioned on the website?
Please don't flame this thread or something, and keep the comments polite.

Friendly greetings, Theboomyfly.

I think that doesn't need to be said, with all the destruction that thing brings..
A noob could assume, since creepers don't do damage, why would a Wither do damage? And I still think it's a must to list it since everyone who spawns one got permabanned by my knowing.

I can remember reading about both of the rules mentioned above here: http://wiki.massivecraft.com/Massive_Laws

Although this page is fairly new, it is still there and detailed. The rules page on Massivecraft.com is still outdated, however, and I am sure most people orientate themselves there. I suggest someone updates it quickly, then. o.o

I concur. Until just now, I did not know putting a roof above my whole faction was illegal. Luckily I didn't do that.

I agree so much, I am afraid for being punished every time I do something. And someone once threatened to get me banned for something that want mentioned there (I didn't even get a warning for that)

The massive laws page is still a bit of an ongoing project, but we already started doing this weeks back. We will choose to keep the basic rules simple on the website, and expansive and detailed on the wiki.

It needs fixed a little the massive laws page. It it is / ti not / t for creating tickets.

huh. I didn't even know the wiki had the massive laws page.

EDIT: Well, most of the rules have been covered else where. However, the building violations are a lot of things I didn't know (like the wall rule which no one follows). I knew that modern buildings were not allowed, as well as floating ones. Buoyancy just became my favorite rule.

2 things:

1. I think that incoming players to the server need a little more definition on what is disabled. Many new players think they can make god apples, nether portals, and invisibility potions. When they make these disabled things and they don't work they get angry because they wasted time and resources.

2. I remember a while back. I was in a teamspeak channel with an admin and they said that the rules are kept intentionally broad because if they were well defined they would be super long, and no one would read them, and it would lead to more rule breaks. Also that common sense between good and toxic should be taken into account when you are doing things. (Note this is not exact context because it was so long ago I cannot remember exact context)

I know right! I got banned for a day for breaking chests, which was apparently griefing. yet, it isn't mentioned on the forums!

Some rules are more implicit that explicit, like building a roof over your entire faction. This rule isn't specifically stated on the massive website but since you are required to build in a medieval style a roof like that would be in violation of the medieval building rule. I think this is in the spirit of keeping rules simple on the main Massive website, but I think a link to the new wiki rule page on the main site would be helpful to those who did want to read into more detail with the rules.
