From my own experience it has come to my attention that I have no control over LWC and chest shops within my faction. That is, when a player leaves, the chests and doors are left behind, and I can do nothing about it. I'm aware that after 20 days, the chests and doors will unlock themselves, but more often than not, the player never goes inactive if they've already made it so far as to join and leave several factions or have already played on the server for a good amount of time. The locks can make land within my faction useless. Noone wants to build on a chunk where an indestructible outstanding block will get in the way.

I propose for the following to happen:
1) When a chunk is unclaimed or conquered by another faction, all LWCs and chest shops in the conquered chunks unlock

This means that if Faction A unclaims their land, the LWC and shops in the abandoned land will unlock immediately. This also means that if Faction A conquers territory of Faction B, LWC and shops will unlock in the conquered Faction B -> Faction A territory.

2) When a faction claims wilderness, LWC and shops in the claimed chunks will unlock

This means any LWC and shops, no matter the owner or the time of creation, will unlock when a faction claims the land.

In exchange for these changes, I also propose that the cost to create the locks be removed, and instead be free.
(Plus, not many people even know the lock costs exist until they try it and lose their money without warning. This has angered several people of my city. Additionally, for many people, the Regalian market stall costs are high enough in my opinion.)

Moderators will remove lwcs on claimed land if that member is no longer part of your faction.

ZACGAMR7,

To reduce the hassle, in my faction we require the use of /cpassword locks, at least for anyone new (as well as veterans who haven't asked to switch over). It's more work initially and costs me about 70 regals to set someone up, but it's a way (just one among many) to handle things. Half the time I forget the password (and forget to add it to my secure spreadsheet), but since I created the lock it's easy enough to do a remove. Bear in mind that there's a degree of trust involved with this, although I also tell them to monitor their chests using hawkeye (/he tool).

When someone times out of the faction and doesn't appear to be returning, I store their items for a while (more or less forever because I never get around to incorporating old-timed out stuff into faction storage). But in cases where someone simply leaves the faction, 90% of the time they take all of their stuff with them, leaving empty chests. I unlock and destroy those, and that's about it.

We choose password protected lwc over just doing a traditional lock and adding them to it with /cmodify, so that the user needn't ask us if they wish to add someone else to their chests or doors; they only need to share the pw.

@65jes89 Thanks for the info. I didn't know they did that.

@levers I'm probably going to do that now lol

Thanks guys.

Just an fyi, you can also use /cmodify @playername to add them as an admin to the chest or door so that they can edit the permissions to add people if they wish. This works quite well because they can freely add or remove people but don't have the ability to break the lock if you are the owner.
