Well lets get down to the point.
Is Lorde a Hypocrite Or is she a Great Inspiring Singer? Or just a good singer.
I personally thinks she is a decent singer, that could inspire people. Though, I've heard of Lorde being a "hypocrite". Now I don't know if that is true, but maybe some of you guys know!
Let the Battle Begin!

Also, why isn't there an "What is a lorde" vote :( it makes me sad how they're all positive votes

I couldn't care less what people think of her, but I think that some of the stuff that she's released is pretty decent.

She has the following going for her:
- Being an actual success at a young age (looking at the majority of the Disney child stars minus a few)
- Singing sounds that are catchy while having an alternative feel, Royals consisted of her voice, synths and effects on her voice to do some of the chords, and a drum beat
- Singing songs that aren't all about being successful and having tons of money and women.
- She isn't Nicki Minaj

I'm getting tired of hearing her songs currently, but the amount of hype that they received was appropriate for the content that she put out. Truthfully, the American audience made Nicki Minaj famous. Have you heard her song Beez in the Trap, or how about Pound the Alarm, or even Stupid Hoe? People listen to that stuff. People buy that stuff. Why do they buy that music?

Don't get me started about 2Chainz. He has songs that are literally about his use of hardcore drugs. They don't flow, he doesn;t

I rarely listen to radio, though I did get irritated after hearing "Royals" on the radio at my favourite sandwich stop in town about four times in the same visit.
Not a bad singer, I don't suppose, particularly for her age. I've heard worse, but I've also heard better.
But I don't think I know enough about her, or have the motivation to learn more about her at the present time, so I couldn't cast a vote.

People nowadays pick on anyone who's successful. I dont see how you could call Lorde a hypocrite, she hasn't done anything (that i've seen at least) vaguely hypocritical. She's called a few celebrities out on twitter but you see there for actual reasons and I don't think Lorde is guilty of doing anything she's called anyone out for.

I mean for christ sake, she's 17 and all that you get from the media is "Lorde looks like Wednesday Adams" or just general criticism about her. How many people get signed onto a record label at 13 (Not even a small label, UMG) and she didn't think that she was good enough for the industry so she took singing lessons twice weekly for a year. Not to mention the fact she writes all her own songs and has been doing since she was a child...

The girl's preformed with the surviving members of Nirvana, headlined Laneway, Lollapalooza and Coachella all in the space of a year. Been named one of Forbes '30 Under 30' list of young people "who are changing our world". Also being praised by Elton John and Britney Spears

She released a single and donated ALL proceeds to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan, interacts very often with her fans (check Tumblr + Twitter) Stands up against negative organisations (When the Westboro baptist church planned to picket her concert as a stand against homosexuals)

I really don't know what you want from the girl but she has literally done nothing wrong and is a lovely individual and is being criticised just because she doesn't have her ass out as much as Miley Cyrus?

She's been a huge influence to me and I'm actually planning on going to one of her concerts.

Not where i'm from at least... I've never really heard a bad word spoken about her asides from immediately after the EMA's, conversely I've heard alot of people call her a role model and idol for discarding her previous image (Hannah Montana or whatever) whilst threads like this call her 'Hypocrite' (still dont get why) and I've heard much more, people picking on her for appearance saying she cant sing just because its not their style ect ect...

2chainz makes the lyrics funny and intentionally ridiculous though, and just as comedians shouldn't be ridiculed for their work not being serious, his shouldn't either.

I do agree that his flow isn't his strong point though.
