I agree with all your points, personally I feel that as we aren't a hardcore factions server with cannons and obsidian forts etc etc, rp and factions do need to work together for any progression to happen at all, otherwise factions will just get stale, considering we can't tnt each other, rp is the alternative to help juice up the faction and it's wars, the two can go hand in hand in my opinion
