As the title suggests, I'm going to take my leave from MassiveCraft. As someone who has played for around 3 years, MassiveCraft has been an experience that I will never forget, but overall the server is heading in a direction that does not interest me. This leave, however, will (hopefully) not be indefinite.

I've grown very tired of putting large amount of effort into threads asking for change and having them fall onto deaf ears (from what I can tell, due to a major lack of little to no response from staff). I can no longer justify investing anymore time into MassiveCraft, when little to no changes have been made throughout the whole summer, with only patience from me as well as the majority of the PvP community.

I would like to refer to something Cayorian said on the MassiveCraft news page around late January I believe, and that was that fixing the lag and improving the overall PvP-experience was top priority.

In the following months, the only changes that I myself have noticed have had little to no positive effect on PvP, and would go so far as to say that PvP has actually become less enjoyable, with several previously active members, most being close friends of mine, quiting and going inactive.

As I said before, I respectfully do not support the direction the server is heading, however, if I see staff making a genuine effort to improve the overall PvP experience on the server, as well as listening to and providing feedback to those who submit ideas on the forums (such as myself), I will very happily return.

There isn't much more to say besides that if Massive intends to keep the very small PvP community it has, I believe some major changes need to be made internally if the server would like to keep it.

Until then, I truly hope the server improves, and I genuinely hope that everyone else enjoys their stay on MassiveCraft.

Respectfully,
BenRekt (aka benalex144)

Staff, please remove any flame / disrespect. That is not the purpose of this thread.

I will still visit Raptum/Magnanimus TS daily as usual and continue playing other games with friends I've made on Massive.

Also when I get back from Asia I will play warframe with @togal300 ;^)

It's been nice knowing you. Hopefully things do change and you do return to Massive. I agree a few things need to be fixed and if they don't there will be more threads like this in the near future. The biggest issue I have heard over and over again is the lag. Servers can hold over 20 thousand players yet we struggle to hold 200. I just wish the PvP community's voice would be heard and that the money we pvpers donate would go to the betterment of the PvP community to make it fun again.

(Just want to make a side note, if this sounds disrespectful in anyway it was not intended to be that way. I just wanted to exercise my opinion.)

I'm just going to help a little fairy tale out of the world since this thread will inevitably draw the attraction of all eulogies anyway, for the lack of a better word.

It sucks balls as a staff member to constantly have to hear this, when you spend time to read the replies, weigh them off the options and formulate responses, but nothing can be put into action. This is because for nearly two months, Cayorion has had broken hands due to a very unfortunate landing on his hands during team-gym. His hands are fixed (Sort-of) now to a point where he doesn't need to control the mouse with his feet or nose anymore, but still away from home for the coming week or so. It sucks to constantly hear this accusatory attitude that staff don't care or ignore the "problems". The reason why it appears roleplayers get more attention is because roleplay changes don't need plugin changes. Roleplayers are comfortable with layers upon layers of bureaucracy to protect or hold their hand, something that is not possible in the PVP community as pvp'ers are all about less rules and more fun. Ultimately, no matter how much staff is engaged and involved with players providing feedback and suggestions, it all comes down to the tech department to implement them. The most of us have all the care in the world for the pvp community.

And so it sucks to hear that we don't from the people we are trying to help.

Well at least Marty cares since he replied to this thread.

The issues of staff not providing feedback has gone on for much more than 2 months, this issue is not a new one. Staff have always failed in terms of responding to player ideas and giving a clear cut response to whether or not their change will be implemented.

Oh and i really find it hilarious how only like 4 staff members are in charge of Bans, jails and stuff that requires the logs when they have the rank "Admin" or whatever you call it on massive.

Oh and don't forget about the funniest reply on my jail appeal like literally this is what they said:

"In regards to evidence, we do not give out such proof to others as to protect their identity and prevent them from receiving any after effects."

Like honestly, i'm not a coder or a server owner and even i know there is something called "Block Logs" and im pretty sure that does not require player's identity does it? Its only the culprit's name being shown on the logs isn't it?

Its either your lazy going through all the logs or you actually just blind jailed me for something you have no proof of.

(side note: If you have heard of something called "photoshop" You do know that you can use that to blurr/cover a player's nametag right? lol"

Marty,
Throughout the time I have played Massive, staff sparingly reply to threads in the Feature & Idea Suggestions that have to do with PvP. As someone who is not staff and does not attend staff meetings, I am not going to pretend I know everything that goes on, however, such little to no feedback in threads such as this one:

http://forums.massivecraft.com/threads/speed-nerf-to-vampires.30709/

make me as well as others believe that we are basically not being heard. I know you say you appreciate our ideas, but from the feedback that the majority of posts get most people in the PvP community can only assume we are talking to a brick wall.

The thread I linked has 32 agree ratings, and one response from one staff member, in which it is made clear that the Vampires plug-in is too old to be edited for balance. I had morrc respond for me (was too scared to sound overly-aggresive) asking why the server is still using it if it is so old.

<3 i will still be in touch wit u :D anyways bro good luck man.

I do agree with @BenRekt. There hasn't been hardly any good changes with the pvp community. Maybe the PvP staff team could use a few more members than the two it already has, @Gethelp and @qgmk can only do so much so fast.

But honestly, from my personal opinion, the lag needs to be fixed before anything. I know that every server has it's lag, but when I go play on a server with 30k+ people with 120 fps, and then come back on massive to a good 30 fps (on a normal day, in my storage) or in magnanimus where I run 35 fps, and 15 when I PvP (or attempt to), it's not very inviting, and doesn't keep me on the server for anything longer than I have to. I do not know a lot about fixing lag, but all the money MassiveCraft receives from donations, we should be able to fix it.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this, and I have been doing okay at it, but again I do agree with @BenRekt, it feels like what we suggest, gets ignored. This is probably due to Cayorian. From my knowledge only the people hosting the server can deal with plugins or something like that, so it takes a while to get things fixed/implemented? Understandable.

@MonMarty, when something huge happens to the owner, such as a hand injury, maybe post something about how he will not be able to fix things as promised this summer? (I'm in a couple big group skype chats and I do read all of it :D I haven't heard anything about cayorian's injuries.) If there isn't already, maybe I missed this important post?

I'm honestly not sure on this one, but getting more people to code could maybe help with solving some of the plugin issues causing lag...

Marty,
We asked about this sooner

I asked for the removal or rewrite of the Vampire plugin somewhere in early or late May, largely due to the responses even before that thread. Cayorion agreed, though said it should take priority after what he was working on at the time for server stability. Fast forward nearly done and he breaks his hands. Currently disabling the Vampire plugin isn't as simple as 1 2 3. We're quite aware that the Vampire plugin, when the initial wave of nostalgia was over, started causing trouble, but at this point we can't do anything about it. I hate making empty promises. I've done it once with the magic plugin and since then I've sort of maintained the idea that I shouldn't announce things before they happen to ensure I don't make empty promises I can't keep because I'm not directly able to enact them.

I do agree with @BenRekt.

I'm not sure I entirely follow, as there is a difference between lag induced latency and fps induced latency, which to differentiate is more commonly referred to as stuttering or fps fluctuations, but I think I'm grasping the concept of what you're trying to say. The problem when comparing Massive to the likes of Badlion or other kitpvp servers, is that they minimize cpu/ram load to allow people with really bad computers to play. This means avoiding using: Signs, item frames, armor stands, chests, NPCs, running water/lava, banners, underground areas, caves, etc. Basically the worlds are plastic fabrications with little to nothing to do with minecraft. The underground is empty to reduce light calculations, the worlds are devoid of npc's to reduce cpu load and items and entities that cause rendering code to be used are avoided. Maximized for bad computers who aren't coming along with the time, but not an accurate representation of the average computer demand of Minecraft. We did something similar when translating Regalia V1 to Regalia V2. We removed everything underground and blocked usage of signs and other blocks. FPS increased by 500% across the board. We cannot do this in survival worlds as it would mean filling the ground beneath the grass with bedrock to avoid digging and then blocking chests, banners, itemframes, armor stands etc, and who would want to play Minecraft like that?

I hear what you're saying though. If Cayorion can get his hands back on plugin development I might request him to look into my BattleRallis plugin requests which frankly has been in the freezer for 3 months now since I have nobody to code what I need for it. It'd be comparable to the WvW system in Guild Wars 2. As above reply implies though, I hate making empty promises. The map is ready. The world staff can implement it in a matter of days. We just can't finalize it due to lack of plugin support.

when something huge happens to the owner, such as a hand injury, maybe post something about how he will not be able to fix things as promised this summer? (I'm in a couple big group skype chats and I do read all of it :D I haven't heard anything about cayorian's injuries.) If there isn't already, maybe I missed this important post?

We're not entirely on the green-lit about what is okay to share about Cayorion's private life and what isn't. In most instances people simply won't care what happens to him and in some cases we want to avoid causing panic in the server like that time he broke his neck. We tend to avoid releasing information like this until the most dangerous parts are over, so that people can't twist and turn it to cause mass panic among the players.

"This is probably due to Cayorian. From my knowledge only the people hosting the server can deal with plugins or something like that, so it takes a while to get things fixed/implemented? Understandable."

I'm honestly not sure on this one, but getting more people to code could maybe help with solving some of the plugin issues causing lag...

That is the easiest and first solution to think of, but unfortunately also the hardest. To give an example: Ulumulu and Madus do amazing coding work, they have done loads of support for Cayorion that he could not do by himself and a ton of features on the server exist because they made them. The problem in the end though, is that they aren't as experienced as Cayorion. One of them had once had something uploaded onto the server which systematically shut down the whole network until Cayorion came in and fixed it. There are two kinds of coders that can be recruited. The ones that are inexperienced and will likely cause issues. Those require constant attention and training and their work needs to be checked over. In some cases they won't even be able to produce the quality that is required without constant re-iteration, which while good, slows down work a lot. The others are the ones that are experienced enough to make amazing plugins, but really have no interest in joining up with another coder's project. It's like when you know you have the tools to shape your own little universe, why bother being a vice god to another god's universe? Most experienced coders run their own servers which makes it nigh impossible to convince them to work with MassiveCraft. Cayorion sent messages around to every person who even remotely worked on the Factions plugin in the past, be it expansions or extensions. I think it amounted to something like 18 people, of which 2 replied and one actually made it into the staff chats of Massive.

Coders are exceedingly rare. MassiveCraft has the best one (in my opinion anyway), but he only has two hands (which ironically did not function in the past 2 months).

Since you're being downright indecent, accusatory and disrespectful, I'm not going to dignify your ignorant opinions with a response. You're wrong anyway.

I will however say that with regards to your jail: You were reported by a player. This player's identity if protected as per server regulations. We never give out information or the identity of a reporter to avoid reprisals. Then after the report was made, multiple staff went in while /vanish and /dynmap hide and witnessed you use an illegal contraption that staff members had warned and told you beforehand was not permitted. The identity of the staff members in question is also being kept under wraps to prevent reprisals against them, so they can do their work without having to worry about being pestered. This is probably a long shot, but you should just respect that this is how the justice system works. You should also just accept that you're just a person who doesn't like playing by the rules what with letting other people onto your account and asking to be let on other accounts. Move on.

Just a thought... if you think there aren't enough pvp staff, I dunno, become one maybe? Seems kinda obvious to me...

That aside, cya. Hope you come back some time :)

And the direction that the pvp community is heading towards the dark shadows is the explanation to my idiotic behavior , because there is a lack and steady decrease in pvpers unlike the past where I would be actively engaged in daily raids and defences . Now I'm just seeking attention in pvp and General chat so I can get people to raid me .

Well that in all is of course not an excuse for my stupid r*****ed bahviour . I just would like to chip in some thoughts of mine . It is very obvious that the pvp community is dying and whoever decides to be oblivious to this fact has to wake up because alot of my enemies in massive craft is leaving , and we have to do something . If massive craft is losing its potential customers and great members of the community , maybe you guys should be deperate enough to work hard and make a change instead ... Indeed it's difficult with all the staff work going on and cayorion breaking his arm , but then again think about how other servers are achieving thousands of players , if they can , so can we .

As i said, can't you just blurr out the player's username, lol? Justice system, whats that? You guys banned me for autoclicking without logs proof even if i asked for them, you based it on my "video" where i was doing 6cps, justice system? alright, show me the logs of the staff member warning me, how about that?

Some of you people just need to cut the moderators some slack, once your a moderator/owner of your own server and deal with these problems yourself perfectly, then come back and tell them what they did wrong. but until then, don't you have any respect for the people who make MassiveCraft possible?

As someone that's likely younger than you. With better common sense I dare say you kind sir. Are being silly, the staff are not only mature over half of them have been doing this for more than a year. Also they don't have to 'blur' out the username. You even complained. About breaking the rules and not seeing the warning? You shouldn't of been breaking the rules to begin with. Beside the fact that you should simply trust that you were punished for doing something against the rules. Even then. You're complaining about this in a goodbye thread. FOR A NICE PLAYER.

On the actual subject matter of this thread. @BenRekt , I never knew you but I hope you have fun wherever you go :)

(
Also guys can we leave the staff alone? They don't dump their lives into this server. They have an outside life, family, friends. They are simply trying to make you more comfortable out of their own kindness. I don't mind the occasional complaint as long as its not aggressive. But this is getting a tad silly.)
