- A soft green flowering vine tattoo crawls up her left arm to rest at the base of her neck, another similar pattern twines around her left leg.
- A curvy, pretty young woman of five foot seven with soft chocolate brown skin. She has a heart-shaped face with full lips, a pert nose, and almond-shaped basque green eyes. Her dark brown hair is long, she keeps partly tied in two pigtails that fall to about her waist, the rest cascades down her back. She has a pair of fluffy cat ears and a tail of a similar shade to her hair.
- Born to a pair of travelers, her mother was an Asha dancer named Nuru, her father a Qadir doctor named Amin Baddour. Laila grew up on the road, while it wasn't an easy way of life, it was a good one.
- Around her thirteenth year, Laila's mother fell ill, while she and her father worked tirelessly to make her well, their efforts were in vain. Her mother passed, leaving the pair on their own.
- Laila took after her father's work, learning what she could about medicine and healing, they stayed in the town where her mother passed, caring for anyone in need, honing Laila's medical skills. To preserve her mother's memory, in her free time Laila would dance and perform small plays with the villagers.
- A young man from her past, a childhood friend, came to the town looking for her. He was gathering a group of people together. While she'd rejected his invitation years ago, being too young, this time she readily accepted. Bidding her father farewell she set off to travel with Calico as his group's doctor, and she's been with them ever since, learning new tools of survival and roguery.
