Personality and Abilities

Perceived by Others:

Kellion carries himself with an air of authority gained from years at sea captaining his own vessel. Anyone with an inkling of cultural or militarial understanding would see within him a discipline gained from such service. He could often be described as stoic or to himself during normal circumstances, though in a scenario where his expertise or knowledge is called for he can very easily step forward into a position of command. His clothing speaks of efficiency over wealth, as they clearly reflect his time at sea. It would not be impossible to guess his station formerly within the Dread Empire, prior to his departure to Regalia. Outwardly he is loyal to the chain of command and will not question direct orders, appearing to always be in the know and understanding of his surroundings.

Internally to Self:

There is always an opportunity to prosper or grow: anywhere. That’s Kellion’s personal motto. During crisis in his youth he took an opportunity that presented itself to him and ran with it. It can be said that is the extent of Kellion’s life as a whole. Outside of the Dread Empire he has no true understanding of Regalia, having kept to the seas raiding western lands for the majority of his life. While he himself knows he is lacking in understanding and accepts that mentally, he would refuse to show it. He is almost always flying by the seat of his pants. He is confident in his ability to not only take care of himself but prove the ruse he's attempting to sell to others, which will certainly lead to success not only the Dread Empire cell within Regalia, but also in creating long term connections that'll better whatever personal ventures he sets for himself. He lacks fear of the outside world considering the months he'd spend out at sea raiding coastal communities outside of the empire, though the mainland is something he's not entirely comfortable with. He's certainly got his sea legs, but the land legs... well, that's another thing entirely. Navigating a large city such as Regalia will likely prove difficult. Kellion is not foolish enough to claim to be fearless, though he is certainly brave. Never one to back down from a fight if need be, a fair way to describe him would be arrogant.

Friends & Family:

Familial ties trump most, if not all other aspects of the young Kathar’s life. He himself had grew up in a strange, tangled family with various cousins, fathers, and mothers wandering about. There was a deep respect for both of his blood parents instilled in him from a young age, as he took his father’s work as his own and joined him in the Navy. While Kellion does not currently have any wives, children, or even distant family immediately around him, there is a goal to inevitably change that. Leaving the Dread Empire and coming to Regalia was more than just seeking something new in his life, but also the opportunity to find a mate and begin his own family. His close friends would ideally trust the Kathar, as he’d lay not only his life, but his very soul on the line for his comrades and allies if need be.

Morality:

Morality is a touchy subject. To say Kellion is an evil or heinous man would be a fair assessment of the Kathar’s general lifestyle. He has lines he most certainly will not cross, such as harming his family, or abandoning whatever seafaring vessel he’ll inevitably come to call his own. Outside of that the Shenath will pillage, plunder, murder, and burn anything before him to gain any amount of wealth and pleasure he can acquire to keep his life as comfortable as possible. Slaving is a hobby, murder a job.

Life Story

Childhood and Youth:

Kellion was born to a comfortable and well off lifestyle upon the Shadow Isles. Much like most other Kathar he never knew the fear of famine. His father was a member of the Navy, a captain of his own vessel which would regularly raid other coastal communities within the west. His mother a capable merchant who’d regularly pedal the wares which her seafaring husband gained through plunder. There is a fair argument in place among Kellion’s family back home on whether or not he spent more time on land or sea in his youth, being brought out at a fairly young age to experience what the sea had to offer via his father. This heavily impacted the youth’s mind. He would regularly dream of the glittering sea he wished to return to, once more working the ship with his father and his crew.

Early-Mid Life:

At an eligible age Kellion joined his father’s crew and regularly set out. His earliest voyages were among the Dread Empire, bringing cargo to various other locations to sell them for a profit. Eventually the young man was brought out for more malignant business. Spending months out at sea with a small fleet under his father’s orders, Kellion and the crew plundered other coastal communities the likes of which the Varran and Orcs called home. Returning home with slaves, materials, and other goods to sell brought a yearning for more to the growing Kathar. Each time his father left home, he joined him in the hopes of finding the same feeling he gained with his first outing.

It was on such an outing his father was taken from him and the crew captured by Varran corsairs. Kellion, now in his thirties witnessed his father’s execution at the hands of the Varran Captain before the ship was destroyed and sent to the depths. He and his fellow Kathar were captured for unknown purposes, perhaps slavery or execution at the hands of the Varran. A unique opportunity presented itself to the Kathar, one much like his first outing at sea; something that changed his life. A Varran was foolish and found himself with a permanent smile from ear to ear at the hands of Kellion. Fishing the keys from the bleeding and dying creature, he freed himself and allies from the ship’s hold before they managed to slaughter the remaining sailors and wrestle control from them. Before slaying the captain of the ship, Kellion took back his father’s hat and cutlass before lopping the creature’s head from his shoulders.

Mid-Late Life:

By the time the vessel returned to Kellion’s home within the Shadow Isles he was crowned the captain. With his success, the crew sought to continue to serve under him. He was awarded his own ship by the local leadership and granted the title of Captain. With this Kellion sailed the western seas for decades to live up to his father’s legacy. Eventually he grew bored, that fire he once felt within him having turned to dying embers. Hearing rumors of a growing force in the heart of the Regalian empire, Kellion felt the embers stoke within him and decided to sail his way to the source of the chaos within the empire. Improvising nearly every encounter before him, Kellion aims to carve a name for himself out among the Undercity and properly represent the man who raised him.
