On most Gmod RP servers, in order to get into another job, or as I call them on my StarWarsRP server, Battalions, first:
1. The Battalion Commander or Officer claims an area to hold the Tryouts(In our case[We're on a Venator-Class Star Destroyer]Its Hangar One, Hangar Two, Main Hangar, Citadel Sim Room, or Custom Sim Room.)
-> In the Case of this server, it could be an area of Regalia that they claim.
2. Tryouts are announced over Comms
-> In this case, it would be over the General or Recruitment Channels.
3. Tryouts begin. The Commander/Officer would test the candidates on things such as Faces(Left/Right/About/Front Face), Trigger Discipline, Combat Skills, and Battalion-Specific skills.
->In this case it would be based on whatever job the Tryouts are for.
4. It is up to the Commander/Officer who fails Tryouts and Who is accepted. Typically its a 3/2/1 Strike system.

The other thing is we should teach Faces, Marching, and Formations to the Guards. It just looks awesome in RP, and it'd be awesome to see Guards marching around in a Double Column.

Great idea. Though with all ideas, I have some comments to make:

In some guard chapters, there is a beginner rank (ex: squire in the Vigilant chapter). This rank is automatically given to everyone who is accepted via app. Squires patrol with full members, and after some time IG and IC to learn the ropes, they are promoted to a full member. This method allows players to prove they can handle the position before giving them all the power at once, which leads to smooth RP.

As for formations, it's impossible to do them IG. This is because different players have different connection speeds, which means differences in output. When a commander says "march," some players will notice the chat before others. As such, the lines will get crooked. Parade drills would go the same way.

To solve this issue, emotes are usually used to say that the lines are uniform, even when they aren't. Players just wouldn't be able to pull off perfect lines due to minecraft mechanics.

There can be drills at times or spars held to practice RP skills, but executing them IG is next to impossible.

The lines are never completely even on Gmod either. If someone steps ahead of you, you speed up for a second.
Now GET INTO REGIMENTAL LINES
