    Life Story

    • (March 15, 277 AC) - Jean-Édouard Barthélemy de Saint-Claivont was born as the first and only child to Geoffroy Barthélemy and Regina Barthélemy in the province of Saint-Claivont in Basta.
    • (278 AC - 288 AC) - Jean-Édouard was always seen as a rather strange child, taking more solace in walks in the gardens than in the hunts of the wilderness. Though it was not as peculiar as it would be if he were Alt-Regalian, his being an Ithanian in culture, still it was queer for a Bastan to behave thusly. Up until the age of twelve, Jean found himself entranced by the art of bodycare, always meticulous about the way he was to be presented, even at such a oung age.
    • (289 -292 AC) - Jean left home for the Knight Order of Villiers-Eclaire, a destiny his father always wanted for him. Though Jean had little interest in the art of combat himself, he still wanted to receive his father’s pride, and so he went happily. At the Knight Order, Jean-Édouard was the recipient of some teasing for his strange nature, many venturing so far as to speculate that Jean’s sexuality was questionable. That being said, however, Jean never seemed to gravitate toward anyone but women. During his time at the Knight Order, Jean learned the valuable skills of horse-riding and blades combat, and his religious beliefs in Unionism were only rebuffed by his time at the Order.
    • (293 - 303 AC) - After Jean-Édouard finished his training with the Villiers-Eclaire, he wandered aimlessly through the Bastan terrain, picking up odd jobs and doing what he could to help the poor there. He followed the will of the Synod down to the last word, and his loyalty to House de Gosselin was unquestionable. Above all else, Jean seemed more interested in making friends with the locals and helping out where he can than in taking up arms against foreign enemies.
    • (304 AC - 306 AC) - Jean soon faced a crisis, when Duke Florent de Gosselin began his invasion of Ithania. He only ever wanted to aid through peaceful and altruistic actions, but now his oaths were finally being called upon. He enlisted with De Gosselin’s armies and headed to Ithania. There, for two years, his pure heart was hardened by the sight of blood, sweat, and tears. He kept himself alive through his innocent and unquestioning loyalty to his superiors; he cared not for the political benefits of what he was fighting for, but merely that his liege lord would attain victory. It was during this time that Jean began learning Common in earnest, though his efforts have not yielded much fruit. Once Duke Florent de Gosselin became King Florent I, Jean-Édouard returned to Basta. He was happy, content, and altogether the same man he was when he left two years prior, but the war had certainly left its mark.
    • (307 AC) - In the middle of 307 AC, Jean-Édouard received a letter from Villiers-Eclaire knight Ser Tiberius Tyrannian, requesting Jean’s aid in securing the interests of King Florent in the capital. Jean accepted instantly, proud to be given the chance to honor his liege once more.
