A warrior, that's what she was. Right? Tough, fearless, unstoppable, an iron fist in the midst of blood-soaked battles. Well, she wasn't so much of a warrior now, acting like a true coward pressed against the rugged bark of the tree behind her. Torn, bloody, tear-filled eyes whisking around as blood spilled from her side. She'd fled like a coward, hid like a scared child. The pain of it all was almost too much to handle, how could she have been so foolish? Everything she'd beared herself through and yet here she was, fallen in the dirt, blood-like tears dripping slowly from her cheeks. Void forbid she had emotions, Void forbid she ran, Void forbid she lived. The feeling of betrayal, the utterly broken heart she carried around; It wasn't new to her, but this time it was different, so much different. A broken promise that could not be taken back, it had all turned into a lie. A shaking hand reached up to tear off the glove that covered her love, her utterly broken love. The one thing that she truly believed in, it was right in front of her and it had just ended up being only fools gold. The gem sat on the inside of her palm, shimmering against the moonlight, it was beautifully blue and in the shape of a heart. It means nothing now, nothing. Not even a glimmer of hope could make it make her understand. Down came her hand straight onto the nearest root, a sickening crack following.

Finally, it was broken.

She was wriggling in a painful rage that practically engulfed the elf whole. The pure idea of betrayal was enough to fuel it all. She thought, oh she had thought it was true that someone could understand. It was all a lie, there is no one. No one could help her. She could only help herself, only she could understand. It was nothing but a lie.

"You are Alone. Alone. Alone."

Was the only mutter that left the woman's lips as her claws dug into her scalp, the cracked gem pressed against her temple as tears flowed non-stop as she sobbed under the tree. Images flashing of nightmares, of the feelings that she'd felt before. There she was standing all alone, so alone, as teeth and claws surrounded her, a silent scream left her lips as it all tore her apart. Her eyes screwed shut as she curled together with a heavy breath. "
NO!" Her head flew back as she gasped for breath, clawing herself up to stand, wild eyes looking around. "No."
Lucky. That's what she was, damn fucking lucky.

A single thought ran through her head as she finally pulled herself together, moving to limp off into the dark land that lay behind the tree.
Well, don't mess it up now.

Hopefully, this ends a very long writing block and I can find time to do more lore stories for Merith.
