The yanar's cheeks are round, his chin non-prominent. His eyes are heavy lidded, making him always look a bit sleepy. His nose is flat and round, not unlike the Qadir. His Qadir Ocalytes show in the shape of his lips as well, them being soft and larger than that of Ailor or Nelfin. A gap resides between his front teeth. Large "freckles" of bark spot his cheeks and shoulders. On the side of his head grows tiny, blue and periwinkle flowers, similar to Forget-Me-Nots. His Nelfin Ocalytes only really show in his height and body shape. There's a layer of chub on top of his muscles though, softening them, and making him look less sinewy. His skin is otherwise dark green plant-matter, but thicker, coarse bark covers the areas from his fingertips to his forearms, and from his toes to his knees. On the bark, small, white flowers sprout. Io'ella's clothes are usually old and raggedy, as he pays very little care in what he's wearing. He also values function over form, and tends to wear things until they're threadbare, as he hates throwing still useful things away. He has recently started to dabble in knitting, and can be often seen sporting some of these pieces. He loves jewelry, especially if it jingles. He often wears lots of large, jingly bangles on his wrists. A staple on his outfit are his large, copper hoop earrings and his septum piercing. Hidden underneath his scarf, which he doesn't leave the house without, are his reading glasses, hanging from a thread tied around his neck. Io'ella's voice is just on the thin line of a high, male voice, and a deep female voice. His singing voice is much deeper though, and can be easily recognized as that of a man's. His tone is almost always calm and soft, even when angry he manages to keep his voice down. He has this habit of calling everyone pet names, even complete strangers. Spoiler: Art ╔══════════════════════════════╗ ╚══════════════════════════════╝ First Paragraph: Upon first glance, Io’ella is seen as extraordinarily calm and collected. His usual demeanor is very carefree and friendly. He carries himself with a certain serenity, and makes sure to always show respect to others, without discrimination. To some, this attitude of his might come off as standoffish arrogance, which annoys Io’ella greatly, as that couldn't be further from the truth. He has a tendency to get lost in his thoughts, thus rendering him quiet and distant at times. This happens because he can get easily overwhelmed by his surroundings, and he sees that it’s better for him to emotionally distance himself from the situation when that happens. Second Paragraph: A cloud of sadness looms over the Yanar. His past tends to come back to haunt him, making him feel blue. He’s not afraid to show these feelings though, and very much wears his heart on his sleeve. Io'ella is very indecisive by nature, to his dismay. It's difficult for him to stay still in one place, which often leaves him feeling directionless and lost. He's not very strong-willed, and tends to doubt every decision he makes, big or small. This causes him great anxiety, especially when those decisions affect other people as well. While otherwise very open, these anxieties of his are a thing he prefers to mostly hide and keep to himself. He wishes not to bother other people with such things, especially since they are most of the time self-inflicted. Third Paragraph: Among friends, Io’ella allows himself to be much more aloof. He’s very nurturing, and tends to act very much like a mother hen. It’s in his nature to help others, and makes sure to be there when one needs a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to listen. But being motherly means more than just being caring. Io’ella’s usually the first one to point out the dangers and/or stupidity in one’s plans or actions, but often with a remark about how he “can’t tell you what to do”, and he's definitely not above voicing his own opinion, which more so tends comes off as nagging than anything else. Friends and family are of utmost importance to him, and he’s ready to go above and beyond to make sure they are safe. He gets easily attached to new people he meets, but is very careful around romantic feelings, caused by his past experiences. Fourth Paragraph: Io’ella is, or at least aspires to be, Neutral Good. Every day, he tries to be the best Io’ella he can be (emphasis on "tries"). He chooses to believe that everyone’s a good person unless proven otherwise. To him, actions always speak louder than words. As much as he is peace-loving, he’s no pacifist by any means. He’s not afraid to act when necessary, that being when his friends, home, or family are endangered in any way. Protection of the ones close to him comes above all else, that being laws or conventional morals. Even such things as revenge aren't out of the question for him, as long as he can find a way to justify them. "Now, water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee Spoiler: Likes & Dislikes Likes: Knitting: A hobby he picked up only recently, but has fallen in love with it. Something about the repetitive act of knitting is almost meditative to him. He can often be seen just hanging around with a ball of yarn and a pair of needles, concentrated on some knitting project of his. Music: Something that Io’ella couldn't imagine living without is music. Music has always seemed to follow the yanar wherever he went, and is one of the few things consistent in his life. He greatly enjoys singing, and is quite skilled in playing the guitar. Dislikes: Lying: Not a lot of things manage to anger Io’ella, but lying is pretty high up on that short list. He sees betraying someone’s trust as the worst thing one can do to another person. It’s one of the few things he finds difficult to forgive. Yelling: It’s something he despises, and avoids doing himself at all times. It’s less the act of raising one’s voice, and more the context it’s done in; only yelling in an aggressive manner infuriates Io’ella. He refuses to have a conversation with someone who’s yelling, and often just straight up leaves. If escaping the scene is not possible though, he tends to completely shut down, leaving him quiet and response-less. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════╗ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════╝ 0 - 30 | Birth and Adolescence - Mirta de Rivera, as he was known back then, came to life in a settlement of a smallish Yanar tribe located somewhere on the coast of Daen. He was a child of love, “born” from the relationship of a Yanar and an Ailor. - The community he grew up in was small and tight-knit, like a one big family. They were mostly farmers, and were in an agreement with a nearby Avanthar tribe; The Yanar offered food and other crops, and in return the Avanthar gave them their protection. - The man he considers as his father, a Daendroque Ailor, was a sailor. He worked on a merchant ship, and hence was rarely home. - His mother, an apprehensive Yanar, was highly skilled in handling the Atraves. Io’ella spent most of his early years learning this skill from her, alongside helping his tribe with their farms. 40 - 60 | Teenage Angst - When Io’ella heard his father had died in a shipwreck, he fell into a deep pit of depression. While in a bad headspace, fueled by grief and rage, he makes the impulsive decision of joining a nearby Avanthar tribe as a footsoldier. It was around this time when he started going by Io’ella instead of Mirta, in an attempt to fit in. - As his appearance changed into a tougher one, so did his personality. He was in a bad place emotionally, and he began acting much more cold and ruthless. - He lived among the Avanthar for years, but not once did he find himself truly happy, so he decides to leave the tribe for good. 70 - 100 | Pirate-days - Turning over a new leaf, he joins the crew of a pirate ship. For the first few years, he mostly worked as manpower. - During this time he meets a small Cielothar, going by the name of Ysil. They hit it off instantly, and soon a friendship that would last for many, many years would form. - Now being in a friendlier environment, he starts to let himself heal emotionally. He decides to reconnect with his family back home, and actually stays in frequent correspondence with them to this day. - He picks up playing the guitar, and soon becomes more known to be a bard than a fighter. 110 - 150 | Circus - Once again yearning for change, he says his goodbyes to the friends he has made, and leaves the crew to join a travelling Circus. - There he performs as an acrobat, but also takes on the role of taking care of his fellow performers. - Io’ella has loved many people during his life, but it’s during his time working at the Circus when he finds the true love of his life. Together they move to Girobalda, where he spent the rest of his lover’s life. Current times - Once his lover died there wasn’t a reason for him to stay in Girobalda anymore, and once again, he has found himself in a state of uncertainty. - He contacts his old friend Ysil, nowadays more commonly known as Mama, and moves to Regalia as a proud new member of the Yahdga family.
