For the longest amount of time, we've resisted the implementation of Werewolves, even though it was one of the most requested features over the years. The request always came coupled with problems: how do you accurately present the power contrast between a mundane person and a Werebeast, while still allowing that Werebeast to cater into a power fantasy, yet not make it so over the top that it results in a bad experience of others. Furthermore, we believed that, at the time, Werewolves versus Vampires was a very dead fantasy trope that didn't carry any uniqueness to it. So what has changed?

The Proficiency system rework of late has allowed us to entrench strength factors into Physical Stat, which made the contrast of power easily expressible in numbers. Furthermore, while the Soul-Shards were a step in the right direction, there was internal dissatisfaction with how the Soul-Shards (the beasts mainly) interacted with each other and the community at large. We also grew dissatisfied with how gate-kept the concept appeared to be, even though the desire to portray a werebeast was still fairly consistent in the community.

As a result, a proper attempt was finally made to replace the Soul-Shards (the animal ones) which are being retired, and turned into a Werebeast curse, the Exist equivalent of the Void based Vampirism, while using that dimensional opposition to also create interactions between these two groups. It's important to note here that this is not a /new/ implementation. Rather, we're going "back in time" and adding the Werebeasts into the public consciousness at every level of history, meaning they have "always been there in the public perception of the people, including their relation with Vampires".

This should not result in anyone needing to re-submit their character app, since we used additive lore, not modified lore. That being said. I'm sure there will be some jumping to make a Werebeast character now that it's effectively been released from the Special Permissions. Keep in mind any and all that Werebeasts have the same status as Vampires in Regalia. Capture, Cure, and Execute if they keep getting re-infected or become grand criminals. Vampires and Werebeasts have the same illegal unholy status in the Regalian Empire, and Werebeasts should for all intents and purposes be treated the same way as Vampires by all social groups, with the exception of Pagan Ailor Faiths (not Old Gods and Oldt Fayth, the really old Pagan faiths of Old Ceardia) who worship them as a form semi-divinity and blessings from the spirits.
