Hey, so I recently bought Wonderdraft and made a fancy fantasy map of Essalonia!

have a looksee...

So, one thing I learned while making this map is that Essalonia is not a very aesthetically pleasing continent to look at from a distance. Considering we already have a dynmap which is pinpoint accurate, I sacrificed a lot of accuracy to make this map as pretty as possible. While the coastlines and lakes are about %95 accurate, the mountain ranges, forests, roads, and biomes are much less so. To put things in perspective, if I made the map %100 accurate, it would have been COVERED in mountains, so only the tallest mountains are included.

Also, except for a couple of regions such as the "fungal wastes", all the region names used for this map were collected by people who actually live in those areas, which I thought was only fitting. As you can see, there are several regions that still despartely need a name, so if you live in one of those and have a suggestion, please let me know so I can add it!

Lastly, I tried to add factions to the map but it was just a complete mess. Maybe someday.

I realize that this isn't lore compliant, this was just a fun little project I wanted to share. Hope you guys like it!

This is such a pretty map! Thanks for sharing it, love the look of it :)

name the place where Mag/Arcadia/Tyberia are to the valley of three cause we were the real OGs

triple faction ganggang out

Rename the bottom desert to 'The Holy Land'. Always called it that and I don't think noone complained yet B)

@MyCatBubbles and @Winterless

I added an updated version tot he masterpost with the names you requested. Also added some other names that I don't think anyone will argue with

vurry vurry gut do make more pls i liked and subscribed

Looks good, always looked at the map and noticed that there should be a staunch good/evil part of the map just by looking at its natural geography, thought naming the desert beside the nether region of the map 'The Holy Land' would be fitting considering the nether spot is the complete opposite of Holy (and for the memes).

I've been keeping track of this thread for a bit and then I decided to go 360 no scope and name a bunch of land by editing your map @Boogjangels, I hope you don't mind :o

So here are the edits I did, ignore the smudges on the map where the old names were but ya.

essaloniamap3.png

So the following are for each label and color are as follows:
Yellow, Blue, Red, etc - Regions
White - Mountains, Pathways, Valleys, Seas, etc

Region names clockwise
The Vale - North East
The Frostlands - North East
The Riverlands - East
King's Bay - East
Basilisk Cove - East
Fae Forest - Midland
The Holy Lands - South
Barrenlands - South West
Reavers Bay - West
The Westerlands - West
The Farlands - North West
The White Peaks - North
The Great Plains - The Area around spawn

The Following areas are inhabited by notable factions (Some are not named because I wasn't sure what to name the regions/land.):

The Lost Isle is inhabited by Cavilla
Brahmin's Valley is inhabited by Enigma
Roleplay River was the original name of the Riverlands from my knowledge of it
The Black Cliffs are the mountainous region above and around Magnanimus previous known as Argost.
The Black Cove is named for Snaven's Lake
The Gray Valley is inhabited by Asteria
Meniva Sea and The Azurian Sea are named after the factions that inhabit each area
The Bone Way is not a meme it's just my take on what would be between the paths between the Holy Lands and the Barrenlands which in my mind would be a battlefield littered with bones of the dead.
The Silent Jungles is home to the factions Tanith, Lionheart, Tea, Hakika, and Thaelith
The Red Mountains are just a cool name in my opinion for the terracotta mountains surround the border between the jungle and desert.
Reavers Bay has Bonnie's castle and because it's meant for raiding I named it this.
The Arbor Isles use to be named Aieralyne Isles but I felt that alienated Acci and Novorra who also have a few isles claimed.
Sapphire Lakes previous known as the Great Lakes
Autumn Forest use to be Eisbaune Highlands which was moved downward and renamed Eisbaune Lowlands (I don't actually know what Eisbaune means)
The White Peaks are the mountains within that region which are mostly made out of Diorite which is white so hence the name.

Other areas above mountainous regions I just put names on them so it felt more aesthetically pleasing to myself.

Overall I'm interested to see what you guys think about these additions I made to Boog's map. I just want to say that this was just something I randomly did after renaming my area from The Valley of Three to King's Bay. But if no one likes certain parts then that's fine but if you guys do like it let me know. (I might have misspelled a few things on the map too but just ignore that.)

Casually forgets to mention the doombringers themselves, Dulogrove. We will make a name for ourselves. We will spread the Dulofall! Then you'll see! Knock knock... who is it? It's the Dulofall here to kill you plants! Ha... take that! (Love you Jae...)

I would be here all day if I had to name every single faction :[

That's all fine and good... I guess, but the whole goal was to use names invented by people who live in those areas. I could've just given the areas without names random names myself, this kinda goes against the it's whole purpose.

Thanks, but I think I'm gonna pass on most of those for my own map. If you'd like to make your own, feel free, but I'd prefer you not steal my work and parade it as your own.

Apologies that you interpreted it in that light... I was only hoping to spark some inspiration for the map for those who were thinking of their area's names because I love your map very much. It was only meant in an innocent light of praising not stealing in any shape or way. I made it very clear on my post that it is your map design. Again apologies for the misinterpretation of my intentions.

Since this has been taken into a different light then what it was meant when I was adding the names, I'll simply remove my post then if that is what you wish.

Now that it isn't three in the morning and I'm not tired af, I see your point and I apologize for snapping. I'll admit, some of those are really good names. As for the "Valley of Kings", winterless kinda beat you to the punch, but considering you both live there, I'd love it if all three of you (Tyberia, Arcadia, Argost) agreed on a name!

I want as many people as possible to be included when it comes to naming these places, that way Essalonia doesnt go the route of the Americas, aka, regions that have already been named being given random names by some dude claiming shit for the glory of Spain/Britain/France etc.

Again, sorry to snap at you. As a TLDR, You have some good names there, it's just that they weren't derived from the people who live there.

Could name this area of the map "Empyrean Highlands" since really the only active factions in the north west region are my faction (Empyrean) and maybe Cadun, i wouldnt count Wrath because they arent part of the mainland @Boogjangels upload_2019-5-31_19-6-47.webp

Might be a bit of a stretch to name that entire corner of the map after one faction, but I see no issue with labeling the region situated between Insani and Cadun as the Empyrean Highlands. Added!

So... I realize it's been a billion years since I've updated this post, but @Ha5h and a few others have inspired me to keep this going. As it stands, most of Essalonia has been given fitting regional names, but there are still a few places that are somewhat lacking. I made a quick edit in Paint to point them out:

If you live in one of the circled areas or live nearby, please, give me some ideas for names!

1. No clue
2. This lake area seems to have something similar to roleplay river atm (Snaven, Torsmir, Elyria etc) ask them about it.
3. Arthas holds this area i think.
4. End / Rift portal locations
5. Highlands and Einherjar are probably the most prominent maybe Garrod aswell
6. Raptum / Lumina are the most prominent
7. Tanith and Thaelith are most prominent
8. Khetsura is most prominent and other small factions around that area usually base their theme off nature so some yanar place maybe?

The coastline of Brahmin Bay should be called Enigma Valley since we dominate that area. This is only a small portion of 3.
