So, taking the map that staff posted [HERE], I created a map (very painstakingly and with many a frustrated curse and ctrl-z) that shows all of the 'nations' that I saw on the political map [HERE]. So now, the fruit of my labors... and my swear words... an Incomplete Political Map of Aloria!

AloriaMapNationsUpdated.png

Now, I know some of the names are a bit completely unreadable, and I'm sorry for that. By the time I realized how unreadable they were I'd done too much to ctrl-z my way back (literally, I tried) so I'll probably maybe make a completely new map or just figure out a way to blank out the names. The following nations are on this map, from largest to smallest (Aprox):
  1. Farah'deen Sultanate
  2. Regalian Empire
  3. Dark Iron Tribes
  4. Federation of Dereen
  5. Hadravian State
  6. Ursula Confederacy
  7. Emirate of Saruhanna
  8. Daenshore
  9. Caliphene
  10. Silver Shores
  11. Arlora
  12. Kingdom of Torse
  13. Kaori Confederacy
  14. Osmaniliyye
  15. Trollstigel
  16. Lusits
  17. Hedryll
  18. High Trollar
  19. Mooriyye
  20. Al-Atus
  21. PariahFolk
I had to move some of the nations around, but tried to keep them in similar positions to their original ones on the Wiki map. Locations/names/places I didn't know were political bodies (ex, Ithania, Hadar, Dark Isles) didn't get painted in, as I defaulted on anything not specifically labeled with a political name being either empty/unclaimed or merely claimed by micronations, city-states, and barbarian tribes. Special mention to Pariahfolk, which I added while typing this, for being awesome enough to get staff protection as a truced faction :)

If anyone has any comments, constructive criticism, or wants to try and get their own faction on my map (which is NOT approved by staff at this time or probably ever) tag me in the thread so I remember to reply to you.

PS: I'm assuming that there will be an official political map, and if there is I suggest that staff leave large chunks of it empty like my map so that individual factions can be shown, what with that registry thing I've heard about.

That looks amazing! How did you do that?

Zoomed in (600% for most of it, 800% for Regalia and some other more delicate spots) and used the polygon option in paint. I leave them unfilled until I finish the shape in question, then fill them so it covers the landmass. This technically means there isn't a single real curve in the entire map, but rather a bunch of really short straight lines lol

You deserve a metal friend. Actually a gold star.

Eh. Its sort of compliant. Most of the Daendroc ones are incorrect and you missed all of the Elven states and their exact boundaries but its decent enough. Maybe I'll make a rehash of the Daendroc ones for this thread. I don't foresee factions being added to the states map though. That'd be like listing every individual town/city/tribe.

You have no idea how hard it is to create a map like this when the only maps you can reference are using different continental shapes xD

If you can just give a slight approximation of what Daendroc is supposed to look like I'll fix it. What are the elven states, and were they on the Geography map on the wiki?

Any more accurate? And I'm seriously not sure where the "Elven States" are, unless they aren't on the Geography Page?

Also, the small purple island nation between Avrost & Kilika has no labled name, what is it?

This gives a good feel for what the Elven Kingdoms should look like. It isn't exact or precise, but it should show a general location of where it all is. Notice that Daenshore (Light pink) holds an overlordship over Medlem Talar, (Dark Green) and that Lusits (Light purple) holds an overlordship over Thellassia (Light green).

Can I just take this moment to note that Rivers tend to be borders, especially large ones like the one that chops the red nations (Metta Telduin?) in half? Because I tried to have the maps work with goegraphy xD Ah well, reworking. Good thing you pointed this out my version was WAY different.

Rivers /do/ tend to cut nations in half. So do mountains and hills and ancestral lands and wars

Metta Telduin's northern border is formed by complicated wall of rock pillars/mountains that look like this that act as the separation between Daendroc and Hyarroc. Furthermore these rock shapes are the very reason the Orcs were unable to conquer Hyarroc. They had the one little river to the north east of Metta Telduin but it was so fortified they could not cross.
Most of Hyarroc's borders are formed by rivers. Remember that Uvie Daelar (Not Unquale) was split into many different duchy-sized lands that acted as a council, whose ancestral representatives would ultimately decide the fate of the state.

The river plays into the subdivision of such, as well as Caelebiaun's old borders in eastern Metta Telduin. Caelebiaun used to own that but then they made a trade which is able to be read on the article, and they just drew a random horizontal line to divide it up.

@Shayin - I didn't mean to sound aggressive or anything, I was just trying to explain why my map was so different from your own. And I did read that article but I was going off of this map you linked me to earlier, which was on a differently shaped landmass... so yeah, changes had to be made xD

And it's called Uvie Daelar not Unquale? *has more editing to do*

Ok, final update... this had better be good enough, I don't want to change it* again xD

And seriously, Royal Purple & Navy Blue need names, anyone know 'em?

*The Elven Nations lol

Absolutely superb job there Mech! I know it would never be considered lore compliant, but I'd love to see a version with all the faction lands on it... It would be such a beautiful mess xD

I'd need to limit it to factions over 4 months old otherwise I'd end up with hundreds of dead nations on it. I may actually try to do so, since I enjoy mapmaking.

Final Map Version (at this time)!
AloriaMapNationsUpdated.png

Removed Al'Darub from this, as it has been added to the Factions version. Kept PariahFolk as it is a server-protected faction and therefor assumedly lore approved. Once again asking @Staff Roleplay if they'd take a few moments out of their busy lives to tell me how completely inaccurate this map is, and if they'd be kind enough to explain said inaccuracies I'd be much obliged :)

I love maps! This is an incredible endeavor and I will follow your progress. Great job!!

I'm not sure how much more I can add to this version, as there aren't any nations that I know of not shown and no staff have offered corrections to increase accuracy. I'll probably read through the different region pages today to see if there's any listed nations I didn't map out yet. And everyone, there's a factions version [here].

Another Update!
AloriaMapNationsUpdated.png

Things Added:
  • Hadar Nations: Regalia DMZ, Republic of Zzona, Empire of Z'listria, Empire of Tzassa, Empire of Z'drassan. I tried to make this region look as if it was at war with itself, making the borders more jagged and warped. Few, if any, nations there control an entire island, and none of them are especially potent. They are shades of Green, except Regalian holdings which are Bright Magenta.
  • Drowdar - I have added the Drowdar Fortresses to this map. They are coastal, and are not all connected by land. Sickly Green Color.
  • Island Nations: SilverWind Colony, Sun Isles, and fixed Kilarallis so that it was focused on it's "Shoe Shaped Island". Assorted colors.
  • City States: Ssil, Hallonq, and Dormin have been added, Brown, Dark Purple & Peach respectively.
  • Alduin - I have added Alduin to this map, in Ellador.
  • Other Edits: Altered locations and layouts of nations in New Ceardia & Fara'deen to be more accurate.

Things I Can't Find:
  1. Yang-Tzu Islands - I checked the "Eastern Alorian Oceans" and couldn't find any actual islands - though there is a mystery continent. Is that where they should be located?
  2. Jorrsundr - The only islands I can find that *could* fit are the ones alongside Daendroc & Ithania, and I'm fairly sure they already have nations on them... I can create more islands if needed.

It never existed. It was a fictitious place invented so Dr. Fong didn't have to pay taxes.

I believe Mon said it was "off the map to the east" or something to that effect.
