Hello everyone,
I'm sure that you, just like many others, are growing increasingly annoyed with the disappearing item issue.
Therefore, I have a proposal on what we can do to start hunting it down faster.
My proposal is to have a plugin monitor inventory activity, keeping snapshots every 1 to 5 minutes or so, and then keeping track of item changes from that point. After each minute or so, it would create a new snapshot and start another log from there while the old one can be deleted. However, if you should notice that something happened, you would run a command which flags your current session to be saved for review. This could also allow for a comparison between the history of your inventory and what it has ended up like. Yes, this means that it might be safer for staff to give items that were lost in the bug, however, as it has been kindly pointed out, that would not be a good use of their time. The more important part is that it makes it easier for the dev team to see what is going on.
However, this does come at a cost. It has the potential to create a bit of lag, I do not know if it would have a large impact, but that is the main down side I could see to this system.
Now, I would like to hear from all of you, those who have suffered from this issue, if this is something you would like to try out in hopes of getting it resolved.
