I will be using Unionism as the example of this thread.

So it has come to attention that even characters that say they are Unionist do not really know how to be religious. This is mostly because the majority of people who role-play on Massive are fairly anti-religion in real life. All it really takes to be a zealot is two things; the ability to debate things, and, to an aficionado. People may see the obvious flaws in Unionism, but your character has the ability of Double Thinking and these things do not really bother them, or really not even registering at all. If confronted by them they can easily come up with an explanation.

You all know what it feels like to be a die-hard fan of something, that is how a heavily Unionistic person feels about Unionism. They love it, they love Regalia and they love the Emperor. Some are kind about it, only really butting into other peoples lives to try and save their souls, as in the eyes of the Unionist, only humans and those non-human who pledge service to humans, can find Paradise in death. Others just like the power and subjugation that comes from Unionism.

Being able to just argue things with people out-of-character is a good skill to take into character when your playing a religious person. You need to be able to make up things to better serve your argument on the fly. Just because someone may actually be right does not mean you cant convince them that they are wrong. This will require a thorough knowledge of your religion, in Unionism it is the Eight Pillars. The eight of the eleven creeds that actually make sense and not the eleventh.

If you have any questions just ask down there in the comment section.

I am thinking about making a character study out of this if enough people are interested.
