From the wood emerged custom, and from custom, customary men; the Vorderau family hold tightly to the old class and way of their march, clinging to the distant memory of their pinnacle as a bastion against the growing tide of paganism, perched upon a warchest of commerce. Hadrian’s Wall and the blindly indifferent ebbing tide of progress have jointly weathered that old dream, however, and much old blood has been spilt to recover it to no avail. From the wintery marches of Opper Calem where the Count of the Vorderwald still governs strong sprouted a pup of a new coat, with gleaming eyes toward the opportunities presented by the central government in Regalia. The Vorderau find themselves in a new sort of forest for the first time in generations. House Vorderau is a Wirtem family from the Vorderwald, a stretch of deep wood in Opper Calem, operating in Regalia. The current dynast is @Razrei’s Ottfried Vorderau. Their politics are by average conservative, but numerically purist. Why Vorderau? Vorderau is an experiment in family roleplay. We cater to a variety of themes, but the primary nature is an evolving, collaborative story with ‘iterations’--storyline focuses that occur sequentially, and are very loosely charted so as to uplift different elements of the roleplay, the community, and the family we cater to. A new player might find themselves thrust into the limelight of a complicated narrative that forces them to grow in beneficial ways as a roleplayer--but never against their out-of-character volition or preference. If you seek a very steady, stable family environment, this experiment might not be the choice for you. If you seek a setting to grow a character and experience conflicts of a diverse roster of kinds, with players eager to instigate roleplay in a healthy way with others in-and-out of the family dynamic, you’re our sort of roleplayer! Where you may fit in… As a project’s rule of thumb, we are always recruiting. Our standard is personal, however: we’re looking for people who can truly ‘play’ a character--we’d sooner equate the roles we offer to ‘acting’ than to ‘writing’ freely. This is a project at its most ideal; collaborative and ambitious, we aren’t looking for players happy to perch on a character with timid complacency for months at a time. We want the instigator in you, the creative you, the one that spends time pondering what it’d be like to partake at a high level in narratives with larger sections of the community. ‘Don’t get too attached,’ in other words--be bold with whichever direction your character may take. Whether a new or old player, if you can convey interest and skill in this sort of thing effectively, then we’d be happy to have you. Some caveats; while we avoid being ‘restrictive’ in character theme, there are some strict no-goes due to the fact that whichever character you play if a member, they must be coherent and logically sprouted from the conservative, very traditionalistic Vorderwald. Ideologies within the family tree vary from Statist to Hiltfront, with a few exceptions if they’re well-reasoned. In addition, effective communication skills are a must-have in a family of this sort, where conflicts may sprout but nevertheless ought be healthy, civil, and even enthusiastic on the OOC front. Toxicity and toxic interactions aren’t well-tolerated with us, as they are the saboteurs of trust and transparency. Lastly, this is a political family. Politics has changed, and nobility is not what it once was, but I am of the conviction that everything is political--the politics of our family arcs, our individual arcs, and their interactions with their setting is very much the ‘core’ of what the family is about.
