I would like to avoid any confusion by telling you all that House Laine has become mine after the previous owner quit the server. Therefore I have become it's new patriarch and have had to make a new thread and a few tiny little changes!

Family Lore

Upon a cheerful day in Ithania at 138AC, Maxime Laine was awarded a barony in reward to his service by his liege, naming Maxime a member of low nobility. In service to his liege for this honorary title, Baron Maxime raised a family of his own, which had all been loyal and faithful servants to their liege. Yet this sweet circumstance had quickly shortened and made way for a much darker reality, as House Challoner and Laine began quarreling over not only regional laws, but policies as well.

At first, it had been nothing more than unhappy competition, but due to some misunderstanding of situations, House Laine took action. It was not long until Maxime was executed by the liege lord, who had supported the Challoners in a dispute. Despite this disaster, the upper had the grace to let the barony fall onto his first son, Marius, who had a family of his own at the time. Baron Marius had fabricated documents that would prove House Challoner unjustly took up arms against House Laine, though waited until his current liege's death before putting his plan into action. The heir to their liege had been young and easily swayed, and Marius managed to get to him before Gervais. With a wedding and some sugared words, House Laine slowly began it's way up the hill that lead them to a long lasting blood feud and the trust of their liege.

House Laine eventually absorbed Challoner lands when the barony became vacant due to war. House Laine's liege had been growing weary of internal conflict in his lands, but Baron Benedin Laine managed to buy him over. After the barony was absorbed, and wards were given to reside in the liege's keep so as to assure loyalty and friendship in the future, the heir to their liege grew up wooed over by Cecilia Laine, who had also fallen in love with him. When power was shoved upon him at a young and immature age, he was relentless and reckless in his wishes to gain old Benedin Laine's blessing. It was given, but at a cost, where the Laines were named with the County of Matinal at 219AC. They have remained in that position for many generations now, known by the much more peaceful and cultural Ithanian nobles as the bloodied monsters of Matinal, for their grotesque past of war and death.
House Laine was among some of the first to take action in the Dark Queen Crisis, having fled to house Black's castle on the Crown Isle, immediately putting their services forth in any way to assist with the crude events unfolding after the outbreak. The Laines assisted in sneaking refugees out of the city, foraging and hunting for provisions, and discussed frequently with those involved to come up with a plan of action. They were then a part of the siege of Kronau, assisting in any way they can. They were with those who held the fortress with their lives.

While the family resides within Fort Kronau, the brief chaos in the city that had activated with the Queen's arrival saw to the sacking of House Laine's multipurpose home and shop. All incenses within Regalia were stolen, any other luxurious goods with them. House Laine's finances are in a perilous position, with no steady gain.
Basic Information
Crest - Divided eagle atop a red and white background. Often found with brandished talons.
Animal - A divided Patriclon eagle, red and white. The eagle represents ingenuity and repartee.
Colors - Red and white, often introduced with a minor color of gold. They represent loyalty and eagerness to serve, as well as sincerity and wisdom.
Values - The values upheld are loyalty, resistance, and caution. All tie into the long history House Laine has against House Challoner, these traits developed in retaliation to those events.

Political Spectrum - Elondist Pro-Centralist Conservatism, greatly influenced by Regalian politics.
Business - The Laines find business a necessary topic to keep at mind, though regulate all discussion of it at the meeting table, specifically so the entire family is clear of what the patriarch, who is always the head of business for House Laine, is intent on doing. Often, the members of House Laine will still have a good amount of say in the matters of finances and business.

Culture - Valeur Ithanian, with influence in Regalian culture. The Laines were never very cultural Ithanians, and had often made their gains through minor bits of battle or war.
Religion - Strong faith in Unionism.
Descriptions - Gelbart and his offspring are specifically blessed with fiery red hair, which was once the dominating color in the Laine history, though in the far-off cousin branch, it is rare to find even light ginger hair. The cousin branch usually holds golden hair. Either side have mixed eye colors, between brown, blue and green, though amber has been found within the family.

Land & Properties

County of Matinal
A county located in mid-eastern Ithania. Within it is occupied by mostly farmland, widely cultivated, vineyards and orchards that often fail to produce anything above meek wines, and forests, vast and tall, with evergreens, pines, and in what is called the "Bousquet de Locheuil", a grove of Séquoia trees, redwoods of wondrous sizes that outlive the Laines by far.
In the central piece of the County remains a town named Loic de Nosaltri, with it's own keep that holds extended relatives. Further away, is a much bigger castle of Ithanian Rococo architectural design, meant purely for defense. It is known as Château Lanneus-sur-Varseille, and is a prized possession among the Laines.

Château Lanneus-sur-Varseille
Regarded as 'Varseille', this fort is a prized keep in the Laine family, granted with the ascension of the County. It is surrounded by a cliffside, as well as sparse evergreens. The hold itself brandishes a moat-and-bailey, with a portcullis beyond that, triple-layered steel and iron, and another just to be safe. With a round tower to the most western piece of the castle, guards overlook the surroundings, and traverse upon the wall walks, battlements guarding their front. The walls are notably of concentric design, laying out the castle nicely. There are thirty bedrooms, most arranged as guest rooms, and a courtyard which houses a thick, twisting olive tree in the center.

Business

Encens de Laine
While in history, House Laine had been renowned shipbuilders, production of incense had become a tradition carried down generation from generation. The Laines find the work suitable with nearby materials in their land, and with enough of them, they have enhanced production speeds. Their own homeland happens to be the most prominent buyer, fashions of Ithania focused on eloquent extravagance, where sweet smells of any collection are prized in such a way. With the bone horror invasion, affecting 15% of the population, their land most likely didn't get away unscathed, but with most of the damage with the tigran populace, they most likely got away mainly fine, and the incense production had been ceased during the invasion, but still large stores remain.

Family Rules & Terms

Warning: Not that necessary to read. Just enforces common sense.

As I wish for this family to have as little out-of-character arguments and misunderstandings as possible, a list of rules and terms to comply with greatly suits as a way to keep focus on in-character story, as opposed to disagreements out of roleplay.

By applying for a character (or courtier), you accept and consent the following.;
- You will not excessively insult or in any way try to harm someone.
- You will accept the outcome of fully thought out and reasonable roleplay.
- When doing something serious against another family member, have a long conversation out-of-character professionally. Better with a majority of the family included.
- You will remain true to your character in all scenarios of roleplay. upload_2017-2-7_19-2-16.png
- When you wish to change your character's personality, discuss it with me.
- When you wish to leave the family, be open about it. No one will be mad.
- You will not do anything specifically to harm the family or it's reputation.
- Above all else, you promise to compromise during conflict.
- You consent to any future rules. If you do not, discuss it with me at the time.

Should you not follow any of these rules, I retain the right to..

- Eliminate you from the family and open the character up once more.
- Void character actions to assist in doing the above.

If any of these rules or terms seem too strict, please understand that in order to retain a healthy roleplay environment with out any 'toxicity', common sense must be used. The majority of rules are simple common sense and courtesy. As to the terms, I will rarely act them out, purely based on their seriousness. Despite that, I'm of the mindset that when a member is no longer using a character, that character might need to be reverted so future players can enjoy the experience of it.

Staff & Courtiers

- Justiciar x1
>

Justiciar is the justice of the County, their entire job focusing on enforcing and assuring the law within the barony is followed. The place a Justiciar would have in Regalia is a close advisor in the political game, one well established within the family and informed likely more than distant kin, as well as a manager of all other serving roles.

- Count Regent x1
> Kevain Laine (NPC)

The Regent is a title given to assure the rule of a noble is never put in question or fought for, should complications arise with that noble. In House Laine's case, the Regent serves as a back-up plan should anything go awry and the patriarch find themselves under binds.

- Steward x1
>

Steward is a role that reserves coin and income for the noble's finances. Stewards handle the taxes, business, and pretty much everything that keeps the family wealthy. The Steward is also highly trusted with political affairs, as if you can trust a person with a large amount of coin, you can probably trust them with whispers as well.

- Servant x3
>
>
>

Servants, directly in service to the Steward's orders, and are entirely at the household's disposal. They do as they are told, be it act as a courier, clean, serve, watch, or even defend. Servants are fairly basic but well paying jobs, and shifts are lenient.

- Master at Arms x1
>

Master at Arms is a title that is heavily dependent on a strong and skilled fighter or commander. He not only manages the household guard, but handles weapon permits, training of the family individually, and is automatically assigned a role as a family loyal commander should any wars involving House Laine take place.

- Courtier x1
> @LyonTheBrave

As for rules, please see rule-section of "Family Rules & Terms".
The terms do not apply, however the common sense that the rules imply are expected to be followed. To summarize; just use common courtesy and sense.

Punishments:CLEAN AF
IGN*: Biggums9001
Past Applications: Si, but only one...
Experience*: Large amounts of Guard roleplay, and a good amount of some noble roleplay, in House d'Ivry/Ta'ren/D'Nath and House Diadochos/Tzavaras
Strengths*: I am able to prolong conversations and able to bud into random conversations without looking stupid.
Weakness*: I am caught overlooking posts that pertain to my character, but mainly when it is just a random person.
Reasoning*: I'll be honest, I have no clue... I'm just being told to join...
Character*: Elenore Laine
Traits*:I will have her be extremely nervous and as previously stated, shy.
Additional Information: She is extremely self conscious about her slight stutter. While her stutter does not appear normally, it usually begins to "act up" or "show up" when around men, nobility (It's worse with men than females, as expected), and the worst stutter is with her father. If she is in her father's presence, she is unable to speak.

After looking over your application I have decided to put you on a two week trial as you seem to have a lot of experience and everything. Message me for more details if you want. Although- I might advise a different character. You say your strength is conversation yet you picked a shy character. However; if you are happy with her that is all well and good.

I'll be just grabbing some skin for the time being, I do not wish to spend hours making a skin and get rejected!

I'll be removing most of my posts from the thread, just to clean it up for ya'.~

Character*: Gideon Andre Laine

Traits*:

(+) Analytical,

naturally approaches situations in the manner of planning out a strategic campaign. As a result, has a sherlockian manner of putting facts and figures together. This makes him an excellent person to go to for advice and guidance.

(+) Well Mannered,

has been brought up with the conversational etiquette of a well bred gentleman. Goes about with an easy going and calm attitude about everything, especially in the company of others. Easily can hold conversation with anyone.

(+) Doting,

has a tendency to dote on the younger members of his family, dances with all his female cousins at balls, brings gifts to the young boys at social gatherings, etc.

(+) Loyal,

Is intensely loyal to his friends and family. Always counts himself as an ally to those who have been his Has said before that "my loyalty lies with the crown, no matter who wears it." His loyalty to the empire is absolute, almost to the point of blindness.

(=) Soft spoken,

has a tendency to give off a soft air in his voice, adding a unique quiet energy to his presence. Sometimes this adds to his charm, although in moments of anger, it gives him a presence that is all the more menacing.

(=) Bisexual,

Gideon hides it well, but his personal preferences for romantic companionship, that is when he can be persuaded that such a thing is remotely worth his time, is not limited to one gender. This resulted in ill treatment as a young man, especially from his unionist parents who quickly sought to stamp out this particular part of his personality. As a result of this treatment, Gideon became far more harsh in his world views, and indeed against the family religion of Unionism.

(=) Ambitious

Is incredibly eager to prove himself both to his family and his empire. As a result will go to great lengths to achieve rank and status.

(-) Militant,

Is a believer in the use of an iron fist for the enforcement of law, as demonstrated by his personal preference for "scorched earth" tactics. In his opinion, to yield to any demand is to show weakness, and hence the use of force is always the best answer.

(-) Manipulative,

Is more than willing to push other people around like pieces on a game board to achieve his ends. Any enemy, and the occasional ally, is a potential asset in his opinion.

(-) Cold,

Has a slight disconnect from normal human emotions. Gideon has always been ever so slightly socially awkward, not helped by the treatment he received as a young man. He has the tendency to not always process feelings like exacerbation, or enthusiasm, giving him the aura of a disinterested man. Sometimes he also will get stuck on a single emotion, perhaps beaming broadly after hearing good news, but still doing so while being read casualty reports. He also has never demonstrated grieving for someone close after they have died. While he will give sincere condolences to friends who knew them, he never outwardly acknowledges his own loss.

(-) Consequentialist,

Very much believes that the ends do justify the means. While his loyalty to the empire is absolute, he is not beneath going outside the rules of law or morality if he believed it was for the greater good.

(-) Savage,

In the course of his life Gideon has demonstrated an unsettling lack of restraint against his adversaries, and even his own allies on occasion. During his military schooling he gained a reputation for being almost bloodthirsty, resulting in several of his sparring partners being hospitalized due to his aggressive behavior. In the field, he can be described as utterly ruthless, having been seen to use all manner of savagery against his enemies, fighting literally tooth and nail.

Additional Information: Anything else you'd like to say.

I am perfectly willing to alter the character sheet and history however you wish if it is so required. And special thanks to @AtticCat and @Cirenety for helping me develop the character.

Punishments: Banned for three days after I placed a bunch of inflammatory signs in front of Raptum's base, lost my temper after they kept raiding me while I was building up my faction.

IGN*: Urnackofirtath

Past Applications: I am aiming for Gideon to be my first real approved sheet

Experience*: Played Sir Dwight Pendav for the last year, Baron and head of the House of Pendav. Also ran a small resistance against Freya Lo.

Strengths*: I do extremely well with the social and lore aspects of Massivecraft, also with character development and characterization

Weakness*: I am not the best at combat RP. I have a tricky time arguing convincingly for

Reasoning*: The social aspect of the noble RP has always been a great experience to me. Now that I am retiring my noble, Sir Dwight Pendav, I wish to contribute still to the noble scene and would love to add to the growing house of Laine.
