I would like to avoid any confusion by telling you all that House Laine has become mine after the previous owner quit the server. Therefore I have become it's new patriarch and have had to make a new thread and a few tiny little changes!
Family Lore
Upon a cheerful day in Ithania at 138AC, Maxime Laine was awarded a barony in reward to his service by his liege, naming Maxime a member of low nobility. In service to his liege for this honorary title, Baron Maxime raised a family of his own, which had all been loyal and faithful servants to their liege. Yet this sweet circumstance had quickly shortened and made way for a much darker reality, as House Challoner and Laine began quarreling over not only regional laws, but policies as well.
At first, it had been nothing more than unhappy competition, but due to some misunderstanding of situations, House Laine took action. It was not long until Maxime was executed by the liege lord, who had supported the Challoners in a dispute. Despite this disaster, the upper had the grace to let the barony fall onto his first son, Marius, who had a family of his own at the time. Baron Marius had fabricated documents that would prove House Challoner unjustly took up arms against House Laine, though waited until his current liege's death before putting his plan into action. The heir to their liege had been young and easily swayed, and Marius managed to get to him before Gervais. With a wedding and some sugared words, House Laine slowly began it's way up the hill that lead them to a long lasting blood feud and the trust of their liege.
House Laine eventually absorbed Challoner lands when the barony became vacant due to war. House Laine's liege had been growing weary of internal conflict in his lands, but Baron Benedin Laine managed to buy him over. After the barony was absorbed, and wards were given to reside in the liege's keep so as to assure loyalty and friendship in the future, the heir to their liege grew up wooed over by Cecilia Laine, who had also fallen in love with him. When power was shoved upon him at a young and immature age, he was relentless and reckless in his wishes to gain old Benedin Laine's blessing. It was given, but at a cost, where the Laines were named with the County of Matinal at 219AC. They have remained in that position for many generations now, known by the much more peaceful and cultural Ithanian nobles as the bloodied monsters of Matinal, for their grotesque past of war and death.
Basic Information
Crest - Divided eagle atop a red and white background. Often found with brandished talons.
Animal - A divided Patriclon eagle, red and white. The eagle represents ingenuity and repartee.
Colors - Red and white, often introduced with a minor color of gold. They represent loyalty and eagerness to serve, as well as sincerity and wisdom.
Values - The values upheld are loyalty, resistance, and caution. All tie into the long history House Laine has against House Challoner, these traits developed in retaliation to those events.
Political Spectrum - Elondist Pro-Centralist Conservatism, greatly influenced by Regalian politics.
Business - The Laines find business a necessary topic to keep at mind, though regulate all discussion of it at the meeting table, specifically so the entire family is clear of what the patriarch, who is always the head of business for House Laine, is intent on doing. Often, the members of House Laine will still have a good amount of say in the matters of finances and business.
Culture - Valeur Ithanian, with influence in Regalian culture. The Laines were never very cultural Ithanians, and had often made their gains through minor bits of battle or war.

Descriptions - Gelbart and his offspring are specifically blessed with fiery red hair, which was once the dominating color in the Laine history, though in the far-off cousin branch, it is rare to find even light ginger hair. The cousin branch usually holds golden hair. Either side have mixed eye colors, between brown, blue and green, though amber has been found within the family.
Land & Properties
County of Matinal
A county located in mid-eastern Ithania. Within it is occupied by mostly farmland, widely cultivated, vineyards and orchards that often fail to produce anything above meek wines, and forests, vast and tall, with evergreens, pines, and in what is called the "Bousquet de Locheuil", a grove of Séquoia trees, redwoods of wondrous sizes that outlive the Laines by far.
In the central piece of the County remains a town named Loic de Nosaltri, with it's own keep that holds extended relatives. Further away, is a much bigger castle of Ithanian Rococo architectural design, meant purely for defense. It is known as Château Lanneus-sur-Varseille, and is a prized possession among the Laines.
Château Lanneus-sur-Varseille
Regarded as 'Varseille', this fort is a prized keep in the Laine family, granted with the ascension of the County. It is surrounded by a cliffside, as well as sparse evergreens. The hold itself brandishes a moat-and-bailey, with a portcullis beyond that, triple-layered steel and iron, and another just to be safe. With a round tower to the most western piece of the castle, guards overlook the surroundings, and traverse upon the wall walks, battlements guarding their front. The walls are notably of concentric design, laying out the castle nicely. There are thirty bedrooms, most arranged as guest rooms, and a courtyard which houses a thick, twisting olive tree in the center.
Business
Encens de Laine
While in history, House Laine had been renowned shipbuilders, production of incense had become a tradition carried down generation from generation. The Laines find the work suitable with nearby materials in their land, and with enough of them, they have enhanced production speeds. Their own homeland happens to be the most prominent buyer, fashions of Ithania focused on eloquent extravagance, where sweet smells of any collection are prized in such a way. With the bone horror invasion, affecting 15% of the population, their land most likely didn't get away unscathed, but with most of the damage with the tigran populace, they most likely got away mainly fine, and the incense production had been ceased during the invasion, but still large stores remain.

House Laine was among some of the first to take action in the Dark Queen Crisis, having fled to house Black's castle on the Crown Isle, immediately putting their services forth in any way to assist with the crude events unfolding after the outbreak. The Laines assisted in sneaking refugees out of the city, foraging and hunting for provisions, and discussed frequently with those involved to come up with a plan of action. They were then a part of the siege of Kronau, assisting in any way they can. They were with those who held the fortress with their lives.
While the family resides within Fort Kronau, the brief chaos in the city that had activated with the Queen's arrival saw to the sacking of House Laine's multipurpose home and shop. All incenses within Regalia were stolen, any other luxurious goods with them. House Laine's finances are in a perilous position, with no steady gain.
