House Haagenvig ↞ |⌽| ↠ ↞ |⌽| ↠ House Description House Haagenvig is one of many Velheim families that reside in the lordship of Drixagh. Fallen from grace, the family seeks to reclaim their lost status. The village that the family calls home is called “Kopvagr,” and is located on the east coast of Drixagh. While the family's trade is primarily done within their lands, members of House Haagenvig have traveled down to the capital city to make themselves known. ↞ |⌽| ↠ History Synopsis The Velheim House Haagenvig has roots in Drixagh dating back to the Skagger Horde that resided in the Regalian Archipelago. The primitive House Haagenvig assisted in the 80 year war, attempting to defeat the early Regalian Empire. The Haagenvigs travelled over to the North Skags when the Regalians forced all those within the Nordskagger Horde out of the archipelago. The family's first ever established property would be a house within a tribe being built by other Nordskagger Horde refugees. They settled down, and stayed with the tribe for decades to come. This is where they’d begin to garner popularity for the quality of the ships that they’d craft, and the fish that they would catch. The Haagenvigs gained more wealth than most of the other families within their tribe, and soon rose in power as they expanded their shipbuilding and fish company. Neighboring coastal tribes purchased the Haagenvig-built ships that could withstand the strongest of winds, and fend off the most abominable sea monsters. The family’s current patriarch at the time, Magnus Haagenvig, travelled back to Drixagh which would be the first time the family returns to the archipelago since the Skagger Horde was warded off. Now “welcomed back”, they began to build a tribe with the support they had built up from their time in the North Skags. Kopvagr grew in status, and the Haagenvigs eventually expanded to more lands when the newest patriarch Valbrand Haagenvig was given the mantle of patriarch from his brother Hjalmar Haagenvig. The family was mentally deprived during and after the events of the Burning of the North. Nevertheless, House Haagenvig remained safe throughout these events for their status of nobility was noted in the Crown Isle. He assumed the position of one of the Great Three on the 9th of April, 306 AC. The Great Three later dissolved for the title was never brought up to light as the Skagger Elders expected. After making an abrupt move alongside House Sorenvik and House Zastorzy against the growth of Highland Ceardians from House Howlester in Greater Drixagh, Valbrand's presence in the Crown Isle dissipated while his daughter remained for the next few months. In 308 AC, the family has returned to make another debut in the heart of the Regalian Empire. Spoiler: Timeline - [??? AC] Magnus takes the earliest opportunity to return to the archipelago. He spearheads the construction of a tribe which its inhabitants named “Kopvagr.” - [2?? AC-2?? AC] - [266 AC] Hjalmar Haagenvig is born. - [269 AC] Valbrand Haagenvig is born. - [272 AC] Markus Haagenvig is born. - [294 AC] Hjalmar Haagenvig takes the mantle of patriarch of House Haagenvig. - [295 AC] Kopvagr is raided by those belonging to the village “Skaloekr.” Many were killed including Haagenvigs. - [Late 295 AC-299 AC] Kopvagr is continuously rebuilt and refined from the damage done by the raiders from Skaloekr. - [303 AC] Hjalmar Haagenvig and Valbrand Haagenvig sail to the Crown Isle of Regalia to make their family name known to those at the heart of the empire. - [305 AC] Valbrand Haagenvig takes the mantle of patriarch of House Haagenvig. - [306 AC] Valbrand Haagenvig becomes one of the Great Three. - [307 AC] Valbrand abruptly parts from the Crown Isle and his daughter Siselle Haagenvig takes temporary leadership of the family within the Crown Isle. - [308 AC] A large presence of those from House Haagenvig comes to the Crown Isle. ↞ |⌽| ↠ Physical Characteristics Haagenvigs range with their physical traits. Features such as hair and eye color may differ between any and all of the family members. A Haagenvig’s hair can be the stereotypical blonde a Velheim would be expected to have, or have colors such as brown or ginger. Their eyes, on the other hand, can either be blue, brown, or green. On the physicality of the Haagenvigs, they all tend to lean towards a naturally fitter body. Male Haagenvigs can tower up to an astonishing 6’6” with no exact limitation to how short they can be. Character backstory: Karsten was raised prominently by his mother Frida and the two older brothers that followed. The seemingly harsh and careless treatment he received at his young age quickly sculpted him into the man he is today; a fighter of Skagger with a hidden interest for banking and commerce. He learned to dislike his brothers and how they treated him, taking this to heart and refusing to treat the incoming siblings the same. He ended up creating a much more durable relationship with his sisters, since they rarely acted so harshly on him. In the real world, he eventually found his brothers weren't the only to throw him disrespect, which lead him into the interest of fighting as a majority of his family had already been bred into.

From a young age, he was proficient in battle and with assistance from his father before him, he wields his weapons well. He is a seasoned and well-trained warrior who's seen his fair share of battles and has little regrets over his involvement in them, having been caught up in the Drixagh Crisis when it first happened, Torkild lost the vision in his right eye as well as an ear with it. This makes him extremely impaired in social situations as he still struggles to hear and see. His main concerns these days are tradition and family, as he takes good care of his children and holds on to tradition with a firm grasp. Torkild is a cruel, unforgiving man; though even the most frightening of people have their soft spots.

He was an animal-lover, holding a passion for wildlife, and played alone in the woods while most other children were playing together in the village. But when Kopvagr was attacked when he was only eight years old, he witnessed his mother die before his eyes. He was a broken boy, who was desperately trying to get his father (Hjalmar) to snap out of his isolationist reverie and do his duty as a father. Hjalmar, instead, resolved the issue by withdrawing, sending his son and daughter to the School of Skagger. Bjorn learned to fight in the Crag, his peaceful, almost fridurfolk-esque childhood personality bleeding away into the rock-solid persona of a trained soldier. He excelled in the Crag, channeling his loneliness from his mother's death and being separated from his sister at such a young age, and proceeded to be drafted into the military at 19 for the sake of fighting off the Burning of the North. He was deployed to the front lines, where he saw horror after horror, until eventually, one winter night, he stumbled into a darkened grove, where an old man who went by the name of the Oldt Fayth god of Rebirth "blessed" him with werebeastism, forcibly turning Bjorn. After this, Bjorn slowly made his way back to his family, where he was reunited with Hjalmar after six long years. Today, he is trying to hide his werebeastism from his family members, having only explicitly told his sister of what occurred in the wood that one fateful night.

She trains with her father to become a modestly adept fighter, though she doesn't exactly follow in his footsteps. Rather, she sets out to obtain an apprenticeship under a local blacksmith and craftsman to hone her skills, which she shows a great talent for. As she grows older, her personality becomes more unrestrained at times only due to the influence of alcohol, which she now has a greater appreciation for. Astrid sets off to follow her family in their return to Regalia.
