House Marchesi
House History
Throughout the history of Montania, House Marchesi has always operated behind or in support of larger noble families and has been integral in offering the support of their knights, as well as their large sums of food. It is rumored that the first dei Marchesi was gifted his surname by a low noble around the inception of Montania after the first Daendroquins immigrated to the archipelago because of his support for the nobleman's feudal rule in a certainly unruly and complicated time of establishing dominance.
In current times, House Marchesi has made its legacy known as men of cloth and knights, although they retain their land and holdings as successful farmers of course, as their main source of income and leverage.
House Iconography
The House Marchesi uses a variety of symbols for a whole manner of things, but the most prevalent in their iconography are those which are included in their coat of arms. The coat of arms is split into three sections, with the left side being half the shield and the right being split into two horizontally. The main section contains a cawing rooster, whilst the upper right contains a cornucopia overflowing with produce and the bottom right contains a golden harp, a mainstay of the Dressolini people. The shield itself is entirely black, and the crest is adorned with bronze leaves and wreaths. A common symbol at war and on the banners of Scutari Communes that are native to lands around House Marchesi is the cockatrice, a winged half rooster, half serpent.
