Far from wealthy to any standards of the world, this family is made up of thieves, mercenaries, and merchants. Their family name and those otherwise known to be of the family often pull sway in Puerto de Plata as well as any other areas they often infiltrate, at least one family member securing space within the upper crust of society if not finding political office for themselves. Relatively unknown outside of Daenshore, the family were staunch backers of Bartolomo del Torreida when he made his move against the Loyalists years ago before the Bone Horror Crisis. Various family members at the time had to flee back to Puerta Azul as sovereign land to escape both the Horrors and prosecution from mobs of Daendroc Loyalists. Currently, various combatants and mercenaries within the family have stopped their trade to aid in the fight against the Allorn Empire. Seeking inspiration from a daughter of one of the family’s key mercantile matrons, Maria Jameson, and three years she spent between 305 and 308 sailing across the Daen Coast and even to Ellador to pillage not only the Allorn but also the Dread Empire, these other members of the family likewise seek to stamp out the ideas of elitist Elves to recreate an empire that in their eyes would only be one to end up in the enslavement of Ailors once more. Seeing their position, or lack of one without the support of the Regalian Empire and being well known in the Governate for their aid in the various rebellions of the past, the family is unsure how to aid their fellow countrymen and keep their family prominent in the eyes of the people. Seemingly odd then, with no clear taste for any sort of empire, there has been talk of some of Burgos, especially those with last names that are not clearly tying them to the family, to follow the yet again family famed Mary Jameson to Regalia, seeking either to secure some of the wealth of the great city or even to steal a lower position within the government or sway the Nobility to aid in the defense of Daenshore. The family itself operates foremost as merchants and mercenary companies. Without any true leaders within the family, their mercantile and financially savvy members are often looked to to guide others and manage larger assets within the family. None within the family are prominent enough to have garnered a name outside of local folklore and rumors, and yet even while on the surface claiming to often be honest and hard working, many would be hard pressed when audited to present even half of their wealth as having been gained without any sort of illegal acts or other… unsuitable and frowned upon business. These practices, while common, are frowned upon being followed outside Daenshore and with such Maria Jameson along with a few others as leads outside of Daenshore and Puerto de Plata staunchly enforce that all members try to follow the law of wherever they may find themselves. Listed below are prominent assets or properties of family members: ♠ La Pantera Brillante (in Puerto de Plata): A somewhat prominent goods shop known well in Puerto de Plata for supplying various travellers and other visiting ships in Puerto de Plata, the store has recently come under the ownership of Maria upon the recent passing of her mother. The shop is often of little wealth and with its staff and other upkeep dues along with taxes to the small town often makes little profit other than to help its managers and owners have a modest living. Currently, it has a ban on serving Altalar or those well known to support the Allorn. Said ban will likely be removed once conflicts with the Allorn are ended, even if temporarily, within Daenshore proper. ♠ Lince Roja Forge: A forge that specializes in the craft of the Daen class metals as well as Iron class, this forge has as its headmaster the proud Mateo Jimenez-Burgos. Working in the craft of both utilitarian and decorative metalwork, House Burgos proudly proclaims a promise to always make weapons, home fittings, and metalware as finely decorative or as plain and utilitarian as desired. Serving those of Regalia proudly. The business operates by mail or contact with Mateo Burgos and is located out of the Burgos commonhouse and forge. Mateo Burgos similarly offers the creation of Nightsilver to any true Altalar, save they not be New-Allorn. All other Est-Allorn affiliatedand similarly affiliated may commission the man for his Nightsilver, should they be willing to have such made by Ailor hands. Similarly, he works best with similar metals such as steel, iron, and galenata. The Burgos family is not one that seeks to keep a racial purity about itself, though those without a clear and distinct acceptance and living of Daen culture if not Daen features are often kicked out of the family. While members of the family that intermingle with others, especially other races, are accepted and their children more often adopting the traits of the other parent, Burgos proper and when intermingling with other Daens are often seen with fair and slightly curly brown hair that nearly matches the color of the fine woods in the jungles of Daendroc. Their skin often pale but able to tan well, and beautiful features are what gives the family honor in their heritage as well as some maneuverability when they seek positions of power. The family often ranging on the smaller size, most women are born between 5’ to 5’ 6” with men in a similar range but its tallest often rising to a height of 5’8”. Easily susceptible to becoming quite plump if given a poor diet, the family prides itself on having its members instead be peak specimens of Ailors, many often keeping a nearly militaristic view of fitness and maintaining not just strength, but musculature. Trained in espionage and the art of deceit without the need to lie, she seeks simply happiness for herself and those around her. Staunchly protective of friends and family alike, with various maneuvering of her circle and various monetary and mercantile assets, the former assassin has honed herself in ways of indirectly pursuing those who wrong her. Often shying away in her earlier years from the Peerage and aristocracy, she today is amicable to them and often willing to aid any in return for friendship or simple familiarity. In Regalia, she is often the one sought out when things go bad and a family member is unable to fix the issue themselves. She is effectively the family’s acting matron in Regalia. ♚ Reynard Benac (@FolkFume) - Reynard Benac. What can be said of a man of many talents besides he is the one who stands hand-in-hand with his fiancée Maria. A talented mercenary, hunter, and healer, he is proudly seen as an asset of the Burgos Family and a prime example of a proper Regalian man. Kind, warmhearted, and yet a justiciar against the wicked, he is a man of many various deeds and a colorful past that does not share the same past as most natural born Burgos, often mingling with the Underworld rather than finding himself within it. A loving man, he has been accepted into the family by marriage and his many great deeds bring the Burgos family pride back in Daenshore, or at least what Maria writes back of him. ♜Heinrich Ciran (@5eaweed) - Heinrich is a young man that was adopted by Maria Anna herself. He is of small stature and shows promise, raised by both Maria and her partner, Reynard Benac. While not of the Burgos name, he is to be afforded respect as he is the current and only heir to the Matron of Regalia. Shy, non-confrontational, and quite simply a private person, he is still a good man that Maria herself has pride in caring for and calling her son. While he has few merits to his name, he is a good medic as needed, can hold his liquor, and is considered by many to be a good and caring friend. ♦ Mateo el Soldero de Puerto de Plata Jimenez-Burgos (@CharmedHexes) - A hotheaded youth who spent only a month in Regalia, the man of fiery temperament, passionate heart, and careful mind lead to a bit of chaos. His acts include being a publicly known vampire, owning a bar named the Full Chalice, and then sailing back to Daenshore despite an investigation into his coven. His skills include combat, smithing, and eloquence. He enjoys both Ithanian and Daen culture and is often split due to the two cultures of the continent being at odds over the Allorn. Overall, his return to Regalia is both seen as something that will bear chaos, as well as potentially work for the betterment of the city as he could very well work to arm and armor.
