Their start came after the first matriarch of Aredethylla, Ulsanna the Devouring Element, exploited her talents as an Archmage to seize power from the hands of another during the corrupt frenzy of the time. Their history has thus been colored by the terrifying animal-eat-animal world of an Archmage rule of politics, informing the way they play their cards on the world stage, but also the manner in which they run their Magic academies. House Aredethylla is wary of placing Mages in any higher esteem for their power alone. It’s only recently (~250 AC) that members of the household step into wider Aloria, trying their luck at either finding familiar peoples to latch onto, or a place with alien but comparable cultures such as the Ithanians or Maraya. This has resulted in remarkable cultural literacy among some members, opening the family up to forming mutually beneficial relationships with even stranger characters while maintaining their own values. Familial Upbringing As a rule, members of House Aredeth are pushed to be self-assured and intelligent in order to be considered worthy of being heard from, leading to a culture of neglect for those who don't fit the mold. This has resulted in family members who tend to be stern and domineering as common traits. Though exceptions are bound to exist, being the pure antithesis is not accepted. Otherwise, this lineage is tightly knit, keep marvelous records, and members tend to look out for one another in more ways than one. Familial Appearance Members of House Aredethylla have a rather loose resemblance between one another aside from being tall (>6 feet) and rather angular in the face. What really draws their parallels as far as appearance is the way their Magic manifests - something seemingly passed down from their first matriarch. Regardless of planar alignment, heat and fire are consistent elements and rarely are they scorched by all but the hottest flames. Core Values Faith: To worship Her Pantheon and kneel to Talea’s undeniable righteousness as Empress of Allorn, but to also respect the right of other Empires to exist. ((Doubt of the current Talea is allowed!)) Legacy: To remember the excellence of ancient generations without deigning to muddy it with the blood and customs of Barbarians. Spoiler: Family Tree Mainline Family Unplayable, Playable Ulsanna Aredethylla | Age: 1227, (494 at death) | Status: Undead | The first matriarch. Known as Ulsanna the Devouring Element, she was an Archmage who tore her way to power through violence and cutthroat politics. She serves as a cautionary tale for the rest of the family, who nevertheless revere (and fear) her. Nowadays, Ulsanna persists as a flaming Death Watcher Wraith who protectively lords over her family. Great-grandmother to the current patriarch, the fiery nature of Aredeth Magics started with her and hasn't been extinguished. Mainellia Aredethylla | Age: 487 (at death) | Status: Deceased | An aloof but wise woman. She brought up her children with a loose leash. Coravaan Aredethylla | Age: 492 (at death) | Status: Deceased | A member of the Lesarra having devoted himself to educating others, helping to make some the darkest tunnels of the convoluted Lessariaton knowable to learn from. Sol-Ëss (Baron) Cyrillian Aredethylla | Age: 390 | Status: Alive | Standing patriarch. A devoted physician and Ordvaan of Amelaan. He has two playable children. Sol-Maëss (Lirh) Kindroth Aredethylla | Age: 387 | Status: Alive | An esteemed member of the Lesarra archivists and Greater Mage who has devoted their path in faith to Innalis. Sol-Maëss (Lady) Lihanira Aredethylla | Age: 387 | Status: Alive | Fraternal twin sister to Kindroth. Rest is up to player. Here are a few things to keep in mind: Characters are expected to be faithful holders of Allorn culture values and Estellon. I'm not interested in closeted traitor characters. Afflictions are allowed as long as they don't conflict with the first guideline and don't veer into gremlin territory. We're not a crime family. Your character must be at least half Teledden, but not necessarily Teledden dominant. Options include: Fin'ullen, Suvial, Solvaan, or Yanar. Slizzar posing as Teledden are acceptable with stipulations. Fire theme, fire theme! You're free to mix it with any other aesthetic, but fiery magic is House Aredeth's shtick!
