    Life Story (Required)

Horik was born in the Hurvaldberge in the north of the Lordship of Drixagh in 254 AC. He had a fine upbringing, living in a small Velheim village with his parents and siblings and a few other families surrounding them. His family had decently high wealth owed to the exploits of their ancestors, owing back to a long legacy of Skaggers that managed to survive the Skagger Wars by keeping to the Velheim majority held lands. His early upbringing was spent learning about culture, religion, and the duty of the Skaggers in the defense of the Velheim people and their gods.

When he came of age, Horik would enter into the service of the Order of the Coldforged, a cult of Velheim warriors who, like the Skaggers, held onto a sense of honor in their blood. This decision was brought on by his families ties to the organization. Instead of growing up with the ideals of Skaggerdom, Horik was taught of the value of mercenaries and the fanatic practices of making ones own weapons and armor in an almost religious sense. Throughout his training Horik would come to appreciate the life of a Coldforge member, to have a sense of brotherhood and a bond shared through warfare and the holy forges of their Order.

When he become a teenager Horik was then able to embark on missions with his Coldforged brethren, going out with his mercenary companions across the North, picking up contracts and carving a name for himself and his peers. This would continue into his adulthood, taking up mercenary work further south and abroad, fighting in all sorts of wars and skirmishes. This would lead him to fighting on behalf of Velheim nobility who lived within the lands, looking for expansion opportunity or simple to prove a point based on honor as was often the case. It never mattered to him as the honor was drawn to his craft, not the morality of situations. Often his exploits with the Coldforged would find him further south, especially around the Daendroque controlled areas where hardened Velheim mercenaries could find work, if they could keep discreet. The wars would harden him, becoming more accustomed to that style of life. Fear of death and fear of pain slowly fading as the scars would form on him. Soon it would all become as familiar as breathing. In time he would be chosen as the next forgemaster, retiring from the field to enter into the solitude of the Coldforged secret cave lodgings. He would spend several years in the darkness, honing is craft and becoming the next in line to take up the hammer, preparing to train the next one to man the forge upon his passing.

As the Order waned over the years, the operations that were established were forced to relocate, moving to Ostyr and then to the Regalian Archipelago, with on the forging techniques inside of Horik's brain the key to their Orders future. Now beginning to build new ties, Horik and his peers gather in Regalia to open a new chapter of their lives in service to blood, gold, and coldforged steel.

    Here is my review:
    • In skin color, "Velheim pale" doesn't quite make sense. Velheim skin color can range from tan to pale and everything in between. Just pale would be fine.
    • The life story is fairly sparse, and doesn't explain much of why he did things, just that he did them. Why did he join a mercenary company? Wealth, fame, glory? Why is he so dedicated to this cult, rather than the more popular Skagger Order?
    • There's a lot of character defining events that took place in his life, but they're somewhat breezed over, like wars and travelling the world. Where did he go? Was he changed by war?
    • A bit nit-picky, but cold forging is a very, very advanced technique of forging that popularized late in WWII. The only cold forging done before that would be weaker, softer metals. It seems to be hinted at in the application that they are actually forging and possibly even cold forging. If cold forge is just a creative name based on Drixagh or Velheim roots or the weather, totally fine, ignore my rant.
Make these edits, and tag me with @AlphaInsomnia when you're done.

    • Velheim Pale is because we've used Ceardian Pale to describe the other Ailor cultures that came from Ceardia, while the Velheim developed separately. It's just a personal way of tracking lineage, like Altalar Pale, Cielothar Tan, etc.
    • Life Story updated with more expanded details. I'm keeping it more vague in the sense that while it's relevant there's just too much that it becomes stringing out stories that could come up IC instead.
    • Coldforged is just a creative choice for the mercenary group we're going to be doing with some friends, so yes, it's just like cultural roots tied into it. I combined the last mention to a single word to avoid connotation towards the IRL practice, which isn't the intent. Anything about secret forging is just flavor and for all intensive purposes is just regular forging.
