He Called Out Her Name

The Silevon household was quiet… Horribly, horribly quiet. The mixture of laughter and joy was gone, and had been replaced with a silent despair. None of the Silevons had fallen during the retaking of the city, yet the grieved. For Breon… and for Darius' sake.

Alone, he sat alone in his dark room. He had been like this for days, only coming down to eat, and returning upstairs without having muttered a word. Him, who was always smiling, who used to pick flowers for his mother when she felt down. Him, who had been Breon and Lara's steady rock when he got older, who could at the worst of days, just smile. Now, he could no longer smile.

Darius had lost the one person he loved above himself, and his family. The one person he'd willingly die for, over and over again. The one he had gone to war for, she was the reason he fought the Usurpers. He had done it, only so that he could make her his. When he went into battle, he had carried her ring, intent on giving it to her when they were reunited. The battle had been won, and Darius had halted about the city on his damaged leg in search of her. He searched for days. Called out her name until his voice had faltered, and he couldn't scream any longer. Then, one day… He got the news.

"She… Passed."

She couldn't have! He had done everything to keep her safe… Everything. His eyes widened in shock, as he clenched his fists. Darius Lashed out furiously at the man, breaking the laws he had fought so hard to maintain. He didn't care, or.. Perhaps he couldn't care. His mind was only occupied by those two words. They flew in there, chasing all other thoughts away. He felt himself dropping to his knees, his tears streaming. He couldn't have lost her… She must have made it out alive… but she didn't. He screamed, roared. He called out her name, over and over, not caring of onlookers thought he was crazy. He had no reason to care.

Young Elizabeth Black watched her friend drop to his knees, rushing over to help him up. She didn't know Momo personally, but she understood his pain. Darius rose to his feet with her aid, tears flowing down his cheeks, as he stared emptily at the ground. Lizzy lead him home, trying to speak to him, trying to cheer him up. Nothing worked. The usual charming Darius smile wasn't there, he wouldn't crack jokes, or baby her around. He was quiet, sad, and sluggish. Darius had just, given up. He didn't have his drive to live any longer. He was simply... present.

Only Time would tell if he'd smile again, if he'd speak once more.
Only time would tell, if he would ever get over her.
