I've been noticing the last couple days that it is almost impossible to kill people when they have god armor. I had two people attacking me with god weapons today and I had purely DPS traits, no healthboost2, no axe/sword resistance, and no healalways and they were fully potted yet still had trouble even taking a heart off me and they were landing quite a few hits my armor went in the red in under 2 minutes. I even had archeryvuln and they had someone pinging me with arrows from a god bow and I still was taking next to no damage. The other night at kit I was 1v1ing someone and again I had a pure DPS build and he had a full tank build and neither of us could really put a dent in each other. It almost feels like you have constant resistance 2 now so it makes healing insanely easy because of how long it takes to drop a heart.

There's also this odd glitch with Absorption that makes it so when you have absorption hearts you take no KB and when you are attacking someone the only indicator you get that you landed a hit is the particles effects which if you keep them off like I do you have no indicator of a hit so you're just hoping your swings are connecting but never really know until Absorption is gone.

Am I just going crazy or has anyone else noticed this?

It's definitely been lowered. However, I'm relatively sure it was unintentional, and just a bug/glitch/unconfigured setting from changing 1.9 back to 1.8 mechanics.

Also wasnt the strenght2 pot bugged? As in it doesnt give you extra damage, I heard some people saying that and with strenght I couldnt drop anyone.

I am not aware that we have changed the strength of attacks what so ever.

If you can be sure that are not dealing/tackig as much damage as you should be, please make a detailed bug report about it.

According to the original 1.9 announcement post, strength, sharpness, and protection were all changed back to 1.8 values, as I remember. If they weren't actually, though, that would definitely explain what we've all been noticing with damage being really low.

Damage was changed in 1.9 was it not? I believe strength gives less "strength" now too. The hit registration is also so bad, I was pvping the other day and lord I only hit the other people in a 3v1 maybe 5 times at max in a 3 minute fight..

Nah, hit detection is fine I think what you are experiencing is the Absorption glitch. Here watch this vid where I illustrate it.

As you can see whenever you have Absorption hearts you get very little indication of a hit. Your character model doesn't turn red, you don't get the stuttering movement from fire damage, and you take no knockback. The only indication that you have been hit is the particle effects. Once Absorption hearts are gone everything returns to normal.

This issue makes it really hard to combo because you can't KB people into your next hit so there is no more combo locking and with reduced damage it makes breaking even the weakest of builds really freakin hard.

*edit*

The Absorption thing may not be a glitch it may be how 1.9 intended to have Absorption work IDK enough about the update to say for certain I just know it makes the old way of PvPing really difficult.

Yes, we did our best (and to the extend minecraft allows us) to revert combat behaviour to a 1.8 feeling. If something is off still, we are not able to revert it more precisely. We then would have to re-evaluate damage that is dealt and you know how hard configuring such a system is.

I was fighting @CorruptionSource earlier and I only got him to 85%, myself not dropping from 120%. What's ridiculous is he had stealstrike and I lost 10r just from fighting him. Fights normally end now by who breaks whose armor first or when you run away because your armor dura is low

Is any action being taken to reevaluate damage?

I don't wanna sound rude but we need to know what are your plans for fixing damage outputs and when. @Staff we have waited plenty of time now and somehow staff are not aware of what everyone already know for a long time.

Pvp mechanics are broken and everything from vanilla to traits needs no be reviewed and properly fixed and balanced. I'm also sure that plenty of people here would volunteer to help fixing this, like others did I'm the past (pvp squires).

In all honesty, until I hear some form of plan to fix at least some of the pvp issues I have no desire to play on massive, not knowing if what is really ruining pvp is going to be fixed. If they're not going to be fixed, then I'd honestly just rather leave now than later.

I agree with Jes. Armor durability is a joke and the only way to win in PvP is to pop armor. This creates awkward moments in PvP, when most people just run when armor gets too low. Another point: swords and axes are incredibly unbalanced. Swords would be great, but axes pop armor faster making swords obsolete. I sure hope these things can be fixed, because I love massive, but I will play a lot less until PvP is fixed and if it doesn't change, I regret to say I might leave the server.

in all honesty massive pvp has been going downhill since 1.8 when all the veterans had a massive exodus because of the lag issues and the implementation of the trait system. in my opinion one of the main causes of lag is darkrooms and the excessive amount of massive mobs that spawn in each world, and in fender when they spawn above ground because of the low light levels of the world. personally i believe that massive should create a massive darkroom world in which every player can use and pvp is turned OFF. another thing would be if the staff could fix the damage by maybe taking away some traits or increasing the chance of damage strikes hitting then i believe that it would become fun again. (Or just drop the trait plug in in general and re add races :D) Also Armor durability is so annoying now, i was fighting TWO people this morning and i had a full set of god armor on completely repaired, after about 5 minutes of combat my helmet broke and my boots went as well, so fast in fact that i thought that they glitched off of my player until i noticed the 5 durability pants left and the 20 on the god chest... @Staff @Commanderkull @Sevak @Sarinex @Typhenon

This is something I've been trying to express this for the longest time. While staff may argue that Massivetraits does not lower the tps Signifigantly , it does lower player performance significantly. Perhaps it's something to do with constant modified gameplay and potion buffs, but when they released Massivetraits back a year or so ago. I noticed immediate fps drops from a constant 70 frames to a meager 30 fps average. That not all there is to the performance drops though, when you actually get to the fighting part on massive, my consistent 30 frames drops down to 5-10 frames infrequently dropping to 0 fps in the middle of combat. Because of these drops in player performance, I have refused to PVP in the factions universe. When I go out on a limb and decide to try to PvP (In the kit pvp world), my frames are still crap. Ask anyone that I've pvped against at the Kit pvp arena. They'll for sure tell you I look like a kid with depth perception issues on crack cocaine. PvP has not been enjoyable (for me) since they released traits, that is why I'm against this pluggin.
@BenRekt @TChaka @Commanderkull
I would like some people to confirm this xD

Damage is to low, how to fix it i have no idea but @Gethelp has an idea and has requested a tool from @Madus which he has made, it is just waiting to be uploaded as far as i know. This should be some information that we are trying to fix the pvp issues!

Armor durability has to stay where it is. We tried increasing it, i had a bunch of PvPers in teamspeak and we were testing as we went, as soon as we increased armor durability the slightest it just turns invincible.

Thank you @Jackmo_Jones for a pretty informative thread with a nice video showing what is what as well, i have forwarded it to Gethelp so he can review it in his investigations as well.
