Hey! I used to be very active on Massivecraft for a long period some 5-7 years ago or so, about the time that the forums came out and the year after. I stopped playing Minecraft as a whole and yesterday I played with my friend for the first time in (literally) years. I enjoyed it a lot, and was wondering if I’d like to play on Massive regularly again. Looking through the forums, I recognize barely any of the people or the thread types, it seems to be much more roleplay-orientated than how I remember it a few years ago. Bearing in mind these changes, I would really appreciate it if someone who has been here for a few years could tell me about the main changes or anything else relevant. Do the old words (Ceardia, the one starting with D, etc) still exist? Are there any specifically powerful factions like Solaris or Magnanimus were? Is there still PvP? Thanks.
I mean, it was 5 or more years ago. What would be shocking is if it didn't change. But yes, the server has drifted towards a world divide between factions worlds and roleplay worlds. There's some activity on both sides, but right now the pendulum swing is on roleplay. Factions itself has some RP system integration, but it's not necessary to use if you'd prefer to just avoid it and play traditional factions.
Welcome back. The server has changed significantly since what it was several years ago. Many of the old worlds (Ceardia, Daendroc, Ellador) no longer exist but many more newer ones have been added (Fendarfell, New Ceardia, and Teled Methen). There are a few other worlds as well but they are slated for deletion. Many plugins have been added, including a Trait plugin that allows you to add buffs and debuffs, as well as a MassiveRestore plugin that automatically restores Faction worlds once every six months to keep things clean for new players.
Thanks! Is the race plugin still a thing? And is it the whole world that gets restored, or just inactive areas?
The race plugin is gone, and only wilderness gets restored. Areas claimed by factions are not restored.
The MassiveRestore plugin reverts chunks one at a time starting from the northwest and going row by row. It's been set to complete one cycle every six months and only reverts chunks that haven't been claimed by a faction.
yes there is such thing of a tavern staff that redoes the staff every 2 weeks instead of other things and mag is kinda dead as a alt holding it
Server has changed wildly since 5 years ago. Changes Quality of content output has improved greatly. Improved server infrastructure. New worlds, old ones deleted. A few current worlds slated for deletions. Major faction changes are currently underway Race plugin is no longer existent Traits have been watered down, especially in regards to PvP. Plenty of old factions no longer exist. Massivecraft is now EULA compliant (a biggie) There is so much stuff that I could list that I would require an entire Google Document, but welcome back :D
Good to see you around man :) I miss the old days back when 90% of the factions community hadn't left :/
PvP is recovering somewhat from a slump that's been endured for the past ~3 years. There are still powerful facs, such as Belegost, Wyvern, etc. Indeed, it is MUCH more roleplay oriented than any point in its history (Too much, in my opinion.) but there is efforts being made to counter this and introduce roleplayers into factions. You're always welcome in Belegost if you want to PvP :D
Sorry to say it my friend, but the faction community around massivecraft is nearly dead, it has changed alot since traits came and after minecraft 1.8, the faction bases massivecraft began to collaps, and massivecraft tried to recover by helping roleplayers
Don't listen to this dude ^ Factions is going fine, stronger than it's been in a long time matter of fact
Yeah, idk. Things seem pretty good. It's even good enough I can't find any prominent issues to write about >.> And with Summer coming it will only get better!
