Finally emerging from the near-impermeable blackness of the dense Hyarroc jungle, the travelers stepped into the clearing and looked up at the imposing stone castle. Local rumors of villagers inexplicably vanishing in the night had surrounded the area for years, but it wasn't until news of a sudden string of disappearances that the two adventurers set out to investigate their supposed source. They could only hope that their suspicions would turn out to be false.

So right now I'm designing a sort of Gothic/Victorian Gothic-inspired castle (or perhaps it would be better labeled a mansion). I worked from many, many different reference images, but out of all of them, I'd have to say that the heaviest influence came from these here.

Here are some screenshots of the build in its current state. It is, of course, a work-in-progress, and there are still several areas of blank wall and a completely empty interior.

Despite the exterior being nearly covered, the build is far from completion. I still need to build the entire interior (and not just build it, but give it an original design and fiddle constantly with the placement of individual blocks). I also intend to implement some underground rooms and additional towers to make it taller and give it a more layered look. (Now that I think about it more, it's beginning to seem a lot more challenging than I originally thought...) Oh, and I'm also going to replicate the entire thing in the survival world on faction land.
=___= i'm dying just thinking about it... how am i going to do this...

I'll be posting more screenshots as I make significant developments in the build. Any comments or constructive criticism are very much appreciated. :)

This reminds me of a faction called Gloomreach they were a giant gothic building with a surrounding village I think Wrath or Deldrimor owns it now.

UPDATE 7/15/16
Both the interior and the exterior of the castle in the creative plot have been completed, with the exception of a few empty rooms on the upper floors.

Construction in the survival world has been going on for about a week, and the exterior is nearly finished. At first, I had only screenshots to work from, and progress was pretty slow until someone recommended the Schematica mod to me. (Print feature is a lifesaver. Thank you so much!) I expect the entire build to be finished very soon.

Now that the faction has more land power, the possibility of landscaping/houses around the castle is well within reach. (Which is good news for the four people (including myself) who are basically living in a makeshift hole in the ground at the moment.) That can only happen, of course, once the 8+ chunks of surrounding jungle have been cleared. (It's a lot of work, especially since Tree Feller is broken.)

I would really appreciate any critiques/suggestions/tips for my interior decoration, since I don't have a lot of experience in it.

Try looking at it with the default textures. It makes everything look horrible if you're used to the massivecraft texture pack. Not because of the builds, but the individual textures.

My only suggestion would be using doors- probably Spruce- instead of two trapdoors for the backs of chairs, but that is entirely up to personal taste. Both styles look great but eh, tossing random tidbits in. lol

Overall though, the build looks great

Maybe try tossing more color or variation on the wall. I'm fine with Cobble and Stone being used together, but if it's on a large scale, it tends to lack color. Maybe add some blue, black, or purple. I know it's a WIP, but just mentioning that. Otherwise, great build.

Depending on how old this castle is intended to be, instead of direct colors added, you could add different types of stone too create a more variate texture. (Stone, The three((though if it's intended to be a newer castle don't add the mossy stone brick as much)) etc etc...)
But basically what korgex12 was saying but stone colors ^-^

The Knights of Ni would recommend shrubberies. And something to do with a fish...

But. Looks AWESOME!

Because of the nature of massivecraft there will be a lot of people recommending stone variation. It's hard to have to go back over your build and add in things like cobble and broken brick and moss but it's totally worth it.

Another way to spice things up is by adding some metal bars in places either over windows or to appear to accent or support parts of the stone structure.

You can also add more color by adding trapdoor shutters to windows in some tasteful manner.

But aye, stone will be stone and what is a castle without her stone.

Good work!
