    • Upbringing:
      • Born the daughter of a notable dwarven blacksmith, Gjertrud was practically born in a forge. She learned several how to forge and craft with many metals, skills which followed her into her young adulthood. Raised in the nation of Østryll, Gjertrud grew up in her small household with just her mother and father. When she was just 14, Gjertrud’s parents were brutally murdered in front of her by Songaskian bandits who raided and pillaged their forge, stripping the walls bare. Luckily, Gjertrud was hidden under the floorboards. After this event, she used what little funds were left to her name and rebuilt the forge, continuing on her family’s legacy in their absence.
    • Ambitions:
      • Gjertrud has lived so long that she really has no real ambition. After the horrible murder of her parents, she seeks to bring peace to the world through the concept of balance, harmony, and order.

    一 The Question List 一
    • Expressing Happiness and Contentedness:
      • Despite her usually standoffish demeanor, Gjertrud can be quite kind and generous to those she grows close to. Whenever particularly happy, Gjertrud is known to laugh more and wear a warm, gentle smile.
    • Response to Fear:
      • Gjertrud isn’t really one to be scared. At her old age, she has seen so much of the world that very little phases her. If intimidated, Gjertrud will puff her chest out and narrow her eyes at the threat, making herself seem stronger and more powerful. She hates feeling weak and powerless more than anything.
    • Response to Stress:
      • Gjertrud very rarely expresses stress. The closest thing she is likely to display is a deep focus, especially when working on a difficult forge project. She often will grumble to herself in Dwarven or narrow her eyes, deep in concentration.
    • Views towards Law and Authority:
      • Gjertrud respects the law and those who uphold it, so long as it is fair. She is not afraid to voice her grievances and is especially judgemental. If she feels a guard is handling something wrong, she will not hesitate to step in and scold them.
    • Opinions on Other Races:
      • As a Dwarf, Gjertrud is very proud of her race, making her highly judgemental of other races, especially Songaskians for their role in the death of her parents. She is also not particularly friendly towards most Nelfin, whom she feels are much too arrogant and self-oriented… And also tall.
    • Opinions on Religion:
      • Gjertrud is a strong follower of Olovomm. She thinks all other religions are foolish but doesn’t voice such opinions publicly. She is very open about her own religion and is not ashamed to announce so publicly, however many stares it may draw.
    • Opinions on the Arcane:
      • Gjertrud is very open to the arcane but feels that those who use it to cheat others out of their craft are scum. If she works day and night at her forge at the age of 149, anyone else should be expected to do the same. Not with their spells, but with real work and effort.
    • Feelings towards Family:
      • Even after their tragic death, Gjertrud has always had a strong connection to her mother and father. She is deeply protective of their honor and legacy. While she has spent decades trying to move on, she still holds the happy memories of her past close to her heart.
    • Most Prided Traits:
      • Gjertrud is not ignorant of her talents. She is well aware of her skills and takes great pride in her abilities, especially in the forge. She takes so much pride in those abilities that if her talents are put into question, she will take such great offense that it would not be surprising for her to either fight tooth and nail to protect her honor, or to spend hours perfecting her craft just to prove them wrong.
    • Motivations:
      • She is most motivated by protecting and continuing the legacy of her beloved parents.
    • Insecurities:
      • Gjertrud hates being called short, cute, tiny, or any similar terms. She finds such to be incredibly demeaning and will lash out at anyone who uses such to refer to her. She is also deeply protective of her family’s honor and the honor of her Dwarven brethren and takes any insults to them quite personally.
    • Fears:
      • As mentioned earlier, Gjertrud doesn’t have many apparent fears. Her main fear is that she cannot live up to the expectations of her parents, or that she may bring shame upon her family if her work is not perfect.

    一 Weaknesses 一
    • Nonsensical
      • While she is quite wise, much of what flies from Gjertrud’s tongue is senseless. A great deal of what she says indeed carries wisdom, but it often comes out ensnared in confused and unclear gibberish. Many times, her instructions are difficult to understand and follow.
    • Grudge Towards Songaskians
      • Despite being mostly open-minded to other races and cultures, Gjertrud cannot forgive the Songaskians for the fate of her parents. She holds a deep, regretful hatred for any and all Songaskians, despite knowing that this prejudice is unjustly founded.
    • Stubborn
      • Gjertrud hates being wrong, and will never admit to such. She is persistent to a fault, her honor and pride set above all else.
    • Short Tempered
      • Gjertrud is not the most patient woman by any stretch. If you get on her nerves, she will likely strike out at you. The temper of an old dwarf woman is unmatched.
    • Overwhelmed by Large, Noisy Crowds
      • Living in solitude for a whole century certainly had its impacts on Gjertrud. Living in almost complete silence save for the occasional bird call or rustle of a bush to the bustling city has not been an easy transition for Miss Copperpot. She can not handle being in large, noisy crowds. If she were to find herself in one, she’d likely panic.

        • Gjertrud is an incredibly talented musician, having developed her skills over her long period of solitude deep in the forests of Østryll. In solitude, Gjertrud made her own instruments and used her time to pick them back up.

    一 Life Story 一
    • Childhood:
      • Birth:
        • On March 15th, 160, Gjertrud Copperpot was born in her family home as the daughter of esteemed blacksmith Orvar Copperpot and his wife, Helga Copperpot. Raised in the nation of Østryll, Gjertrud grew up in her small household with just her mother, father, and their livestock.
      • Following in Their Footsteps:
        • From the moment she was able to walk, Gjertrud’s father was already teaching her how to wield hammers, chisels. tongs, and drifts.
        • Gjertrud loved the forge and hardly spent time away from it, always watching her father or exploring the space.
        • Similarly, her mother taught her how to identify certain jewels and craft with finer materials, like glass and wood.
        • From a young age, Gjertrud was set up to successfully continue her family's business.
      • Tragedy Strikes:
        • On a sunny day just a week after her 14th birthday, the Copperpot forge received an unwelcome group of guests. Fearing for the safety of her child, Helga hid Gjertrud in a compartment for storing valuable metals beneath their floorboards.
        • The group, a band of Songaskians, entered the forge, speaking quickly and bluntly, towering over her mother and father. The Songaskians surrounded her parents, but her father stood his ground. The leader of the group seemed to be discussing something with her father before he was suddenly stabbed in the neck. Gjertrud heard the thump as he hit the ground, blood began to leak through the floorboards.
        • She heard her mother screaming and pleading, but her voice was quickly silenced by a slash to her neck as well. She tumbled to the floor next to his father.
        • The group then stripped the forge of anything they considered valuable, the leader barking orders in a foreign tongue as they stomped about. She bit her lip to keep herself from crying out.
        • Soon, the group had left, leaving Gjertrud to jump from her hiding spot and rush over to her parents. They were lifeless.
      • Continuing Their Legacy:
        • After her family’s tragic death, Gjertrud managed to gather enough funds by selling her works to rebuild most of the forge. She carried on the legacy of her father by maintaining the forge and living for the next 35 years as a talented smith and jeweler.
    • Adulthood:
      • After 35 years of being commissioned by warriors, nobles, and others for her renowned talents, Gjertrud became tired of her work, and of the civilized world’s endless senselessness and chaotic nature. On a wanderlust-driven whim, she packed her bags and what little possessions she cared for and wandered deep into the Essalonian forests where she found a desolate and neglected cabin. The perfect place for the old woman to settle and live the rest of her days.
      • While living in solitude, many of Gjertrud’s old hobbies made new appearances. She took up wood arts and made her own furniture, patch up her home, and even carved herself instruments. She continued to keep her jewelry and smithing skills sharp by taking apart her own tools and reforging them, or smelting down the old silverware and recrafting it to feature fine engravings.
    • A New Chapter:
      • After nearly 90 years in solitude, Gjertrud had a keen understanding of the world around her, learning to grow her own food and spending many of her lonesome hours speaking to birds, rabbits, and other wildlife.
      • One day, a large raven perched himself on her windowsill, cawing at the old woman. She scowled at it in annoyance and tried shooing it away, but it wouldn’t leave. Gjertrud simply decided to leave the bird be, tending to her garden, sweeping her floors, and baking. Despite their rocky start, the raven was a good companion. He seemed to actually understand her and listen to her tales of faraway lands and people. She came to enjoy his company, making cookies for him and making a perch for him inside her bedroom.
      • Ten years pass, and the raven has seemed to grow agitated, flying off for hours a day, only to return at night. Noticing this strange shift in his behavior, and once again feeling the same wanderlust she felt a century ago, Gjertrud packs her things and closes the cabin door for the last time, following the raven, whom she names Heldig, to the bustling city of Regalia.
