After the hopper delay update some pot machines broke. That made me wonder how many people have working fully automatic potion machines now? (Fully automatic is when you dont need to do anything else than watch) The only faction I know that have working ones are Tyrath, My own faction that i own with mah freddi @GameFlame

Not to sound like an uninformed idiot, but aren't these illegal? I'm not sure, to be honest, nor do I know how to make one. xD

I'm actually not sure either. I thought anything that can be done afk is illegal. (Like a automated chicken frying farm as I heard recently from someone, who asked a mod about it)
Aside from that: a fully automated potion brewer wouldn't help you leveling your alchemy...sooo: No, I don't have one.

No they aren't illegal as they do not help you level McMMO all they do is brew potions. But because of MassiveCrafts hopper updates many potion brewers broke. Here at Tyrath we currently have a working design.

Hm, but that chicken fryer wouldn't give anyone McMMO either.. so that shouldn't be the reason why one machine is allowed and the other one isn't. I would rather understand it, if they want to keep PVP up and that's why auto brewers are an exemption.

I believe the reason most automatic machines are illegal is because they cause lag. The "Automatic Chicken Fryer" would have to move mobs around, which is a major source of lag.

Aye, that was my guess too, but the mods reasoning was that we are not allowed to gain stuff while being afk. Hence auto-fishing and auto-cacti farms are not allowed either.. or an auto sugar farm. As far as I got told. (Cactus farm with a floor of hoppers instead water transporting the cacti). I can understand that's illegal to autofish, because that is gaining McMMO while being afk, but cacti and sugar?

Well, maybe a wire got crossed. Best to wait for an official response, I think.

The last time I checked auto fishing was a hack. So yeah it's pretty obvious that auto fishing is illegal.
Let me explain the rule so everyone can understand it.
  • Do not AFK grind or harvest.
As you all probably know producing potions is not considered "harvesting" since harvesting means that you're gathering crops from fields etc.

Grinding is the term that some of you may connect to "auto" brewers. However, even though they're called auto brewers it doesn't mean that you can just lean back and not do nothing at all. You still need to gather the ingredients manually in order to keep the machine running since it at some point will require you to refill it with the potion ingredients.
Compared to an auto cactus farm which doesn't require you to do anything manually (after the process of it being built of course), therefor it's not the same. The REAL term that should be used when describing what mainly PvP'ers use to brew their potions is a semi-automatic-potion-brewer. That's at least what I figured out after doing a bit of research x)

I don't know anything about there being an autofishing hack, but I do know that in other environments, what I've seen people do is actually create a redstone system to restrict their fishing rod. Either way, I would assume this is also illegal.

Although about the brewer terms, I believe a semi auto brewer is generally seen as an alchemy system that only does part of the brewing work, for example, the system might simply not use a timer and require player intervention for this. What we have been considering an autobrewer still can be defined as an autobrewer as it is doing the brewing part automatically. There does not seem to be anything in "auto brewer" it that suggests that it should be responsible for the ingredients as part of the process.

I see what you are talking about of those "auto fishing" machines. They do not work anymore and have not done for a while. Since the bitchance got nerfed.

What are the specs on the autobrewers you guys have working? Just in terms of production rates?

Oh well, my last statement seems to be a bit incorrect. Anyway.... the closest you probably get to a pot machine is a furnace connected to a few hoppers and chests (mechanically). I'd assume it's not considered grinders because they basically are tools that crafts/refines items for you? You can't acquire the final product without having to spend resources at all time. Compared to a cactus farm you don't have to spend any resources during the process of harvesting. I'm pretty sure that's what makes the difference. I don't know how to explain it in other ways than a farm/mechanism that can keep gathering resources for you infinitely without requiring the user to spend resources at any time (except for the stage of being built).
