What had seemed to be an evening of providence had quickly spiraled into a night of terror as the cure tests within Fort Purity took a grave turn. While a handful of those present within the fort were able to be treated and cured of the Void's Grasp, a great deal more were left at the mercy of the mutations caused by one of the theoretical cures. A cure proposed by an outlying group resulted in the tendril beasts emerging without the host suffering wounds, mutating into enlarged or more agile versions of the lumbering creatures faced in the fields of the Elven continent. In a matter of minutes, Fort Purity's exterior wall was compromised in multiple areas which allowed the infected individuals to flee into the Regalian countryside.
Subsequently, the two mutated hosts known as The Brute and The Swarmer escaped practically unscathed, the guard's weapons and equipment seemingly useless against them. Many of the infected seemingly followed the larger creatures on instinct alone, sprinting out of the fortress without thinking of the consequences. The Brute had in a brief time done more structural damage than any siege weapon could, while The Swarmer had left behind a trail of black worms that bit any who came into contact with them. In the course of one night, Regalia was left with more questions than they had answers once more and a new threat to contend with as darkness descended on the city.
OOC NOTES
Following the events of the Fort Purity collapse, the infected individuals are back at large within the city and have nowhere to be quarantined without further spreading the infection. This drastic change in the containment situation will have the following immediate effects:
General Notes
For Infected Characters Specifically:
CONCLUSION
The plague sub-plot will be explored more in coming progressions leading up to its ultimate end. Expect more progressions related to the plague, sign-ups related to the war and other similar content to come over the course of the next month. Players will be able to truly affect the outcome of the plague and the battles against it going forward, so keep on the lookout for chances to sign-up.

General Notes
- Infected characters are no longer able to be contained in a cell/building. Any attempt to do so by guards will result in a larger infected population.
- While cures have been found, they are not widely known to player characters as only a select few received copies of the potential cures (none received concrete data to specify the correct ones).
- Non-Infected characters should have a rough belief that smoking siggs will work as many saw this as one of the cures in action, but do not know the specifics of it.
For Infected Characters Specifically:
- Infected characters should not simply submit to guards as the plague demands that they stay free. They can however be persuaded to cooperate.
- Infected characters are NOT deranged/out of their minds by default, they are simply driven to socialize and are highly anxious.
