The design and goal for the castle was to make as impenetrable fortification as I possibly could- by Real Life Standards. Hence, against a mountain, with an outer wall, a large moat, battlements that you can fire down, a huge draw bridge with a Murderway and two gates, with platforms on the sides for firing down on attackers from all angles. A winding path up the slope followed by another gate and then another fully functional gatehouse. ETC.

Layers upon layers of defense.

Give me three hours.

Ok, Came up with 6 ways and a description for each
  1. Deception: Spies were used to infiltrate the castle. They could, at night, open the castle gates or wreak havoc on the interior defenses of the castle. The most famous case of this tactic is the Trojan Horse.
  2. Treachery: Someone trusted within the power structure of the castle could give misleading information that would bring down the castle. He could for example report that there were many more troops sieging the castle than there actually were. This would induce the castle residents to either revolt or surrender out of fear.
  3. Starvation: This was a method used but it often meant many months, sometimes even a year or more. The sieging army would station itself around the castle and not allow any form of commerce. Eventually the inhabitants would surrender due to imminent starvation.
  4. Biological warfare: Yep that's right. A sieging force could launch the remains of rotting corpses into the castle causing outbreaks of life-threatening illness.
  5. Simple storm: The sieging force could carry on an all out attack at various points of the castle. This overwhelming would hopefully break through in some places causing a collapse in defenses.
  6. Mining: The sieging army would actually dig tunnels under the castle. The hope was not so much for an entry into the castle but for a way to collapse the castle defenses.

Pic 3 looked like you had an ambulance. Other than that I really like the castle. Great work!

Well time to go explore that place. Is there a rule about other servers sharing ip addresses?

I'm not entirely convinced that the trojan horse was a legit thing. I mean, no one can be that stupid
and even if they are, guards will most likly put an end to such thing realy quickly as they are not incompetent. Also, how are spies suposed to get in in the first place? iit's not as if a castle under siege will open the gate for the first random stranger that knocks on the door.

plausible, but then again, forts where made so small numbers of people can last against a much greater number of people. they'd have to describe a real hopeless situation for that to work.

Looks like Conflicts Fort has this coverd

just toss'm back? it's not as if those corpses are going to inflicts disease imidiatly, otherwise the army flinging them over the wall will get diseases aswel. Burning could also be an option
Simple storm: The sieging force could carry on an all out attack at various points of the castle. This overwhelming would hopefully break through in some places causing a collapse in defenses.
I see only 2 points where an assault could be launched, but remember that there is a moat to make your life difficult so i highly doubt that would work, unles you can trow thousands upon thousands of people at it.
Mining: The sieging army would actually dig tunnels under the castle. The hope was not so much for an entry into the castle but for a way to collapse the castle defenses.
While this would be increadibly slow, this tactic would work best against Conflicts Fort i think

And that was my conclusion as well, I just offered some ways of storming it that are remotely possible.
Another option is to pelt it with stones from trebuchets, knock down the walls, then deploy tactical Greek fire, or gunpowder, additionaly his fort seems quite vulnerable to my favorite (and one that only works on massive) option of storming, expert stone mages, rip the entire thing to shreds, fire mages, burn it to cinders. Operation Magical Phoenix Complete.

Additionally have wind mages that blow arrows away from the defenders.

The side of the moat that is against the walls (the inside of the moat) is also lined in barbwire. Since it is a medieval fantasy setting with fairly advanced tech.

Realistically all you should need is an expert ice mage, a caster wind mage and an army. Make an ice bridge over the wallls, run rampant,
Don't feel bad, nothing can survive a mage onslaught! ;P

This isnt set in Aloria, but yea. Magic is always a pain in the bum to plan around. But, on the same note, mages take time to cast, and are pretty obvious. All the corssbow men on the wall could just focus fire, or point a canon at them. Or if it was set in Aloria, fill the walls with Lapis.

Now you're giving the guard ideas.

And also you guys the most simple way of getting in, just blast the walls with cannons.

Or if cannons were not invented yet you can poisen the water, like the ancient greeks did, or the turks during the crusades. This also counts as biological warfare.

You could canon in, but then you have to get across that moat. And once you make a hole, its very obvious where your coming from. As for poisoning the water, water into the Castle comes from two places- a spring within the walls, up in the mountain. And the Waterfall. The waterfall is split though- one half flows into the moat, while the other half flows into the fort, and there is a guarded segment/fortification up there with dedicated barracks for long, all-night watch.

Not just that, but if you poison the water, you need to have access to your own supply of water.

Im glad I have this thread, lol. The fort itself got griefed to hell on the server it was made on, and coreprotect was purged, so it couldnt be rolled back. On the plus side, im starting a few new projects to replace it.

you know what, you made me wanna go n build a nice nice castle in a vanilla server somewhere and impress the local players
