The frigid, damning rain pattered down onto the man as the vessel neared the Gallovian port. Sailing wasn't a common occurrence for the Highlander, especially since he left these grounds long ago, home didn't feel as welcoming as he remembered as his memory flashed back to those last days, those cruel, ruthless days of his banishment from his own home. From across the way, a little boy and a much older, a taller man standing at the dock, both waiting, staring down the vessel as it neared. Nace's face only turned into a slight grimace as he spotted his brother, Delmso.
The boat stopped at the Drummond stepped up to the dock, tilting his head as the rocking motion of the sea had finally stopped beneath his feet, in front of him stood his oldest friend, his brother. "Hail, brother." The air around Nace felt thick, and warm despite the current weather as Delmso spoke. Pulling his hood down, Nace couldn't speak only look, seeing a defined picture of himself, if he only stayed, if he listened, as he stared into the man's cold, icy blue eyes. Suddenly, a much softer voice was heard, directed to the thief from down below, the boy. ".. Dad.", but was shortly tugged at the sleeve by Delmso, keeping the boy quiet. Unable to look down, the word raced through Nace's head, simply keeping himself still as the only solution, even though it was the hardest, was to disregard the child and continue on. "Where's father?", he spoke, hastily moving through the both of them.
Nace felt as if he was lumbering a tree up the stairs as he made his way up, the estate hadn't changed since last he was here. The smell filled his nose of the familiar forest that surrounded the household, pushing through the two doors several maids scurried across the hall as he stepped in, keeping their eyes stationary on the poor-looking man as if he was a stranger. The marble flooring clicked as he stepped across with his worn boots, mud tracks following him up the stairs, as he kept his head still, and focused on the task at hand. For it was why he was here. Nothing more, nothing less.
Marching towards the room, several maids tried to stop him, only to be singled off by his brother who was hurrying to catch up. Opening up the one singular door that was labeled "Fredric Drummond", hesitantly cracking the door open as he peered inside, an old man laid there on the bed, waving his hand as a sign for Nace to step in fully. "I imagined you'd come for your money, Nace. I wouldn't expect anything more from you." his voice was cold, and piercing like a sword to the gut, Nace simply nodded as the elder gestured to the two large bags of coin, "As I said. That half is yours, the other your brothers." he spoke. Nace examined the baggage only briefly as the servants quickly hauled it off towards the vessel awaiting Nace outside. "I don't regret my decision if that's what you're thinking." spoke the bedridden man, with a slight cough. "This family has survived, we do what we need to survive. You were a liability.".
Nace opened his mouth to speak, before being hushed by his brother in the back of him, Nace shaking at the response of his kin, he'd turn about and kneel before his stranger of a son. ".. Boy, you've gotten to know me by stories, /false/ history this family has placed on me. I was stupid, I didn't listen, but I worked- I believed in this House, and I by no means meant anything personal by leaving you to Delmso." the thief spoke out, a crack in his voice before being tugged at by two household guards. "It's time to leave." one of them spoke out as he was unwillingly dragged from the room. "Boy! You stay with Delmso, you stay with him!" Nace barked out towards the crying boy, shaking within the grasp of the guards. This was all too familiar.
