Virathus Krupp commences his legacy plans with a diplomatic attempt to woo the Queen of Lusits, to make up for lost diplomatic contacts after the previous encounter. Much to the delight of the central government, Krupp’s less than conventional approach to dealing with the Queen of Lusits appears to be very effective, resulting in her positive enamorment of his person. His behavior is described as:

“Speaking with her, he would act erratic fashion to mirror her own sensational style; nearly weeping and pleading with her in apology for the Typhonus woman the Empire had mistakenly sent, confident and self assured when speaking about the new government, bombastic and happy when speaking about the war, and humbled - almost shy, when speaking about the Queen herself, or her possible contributions. He would note her as almost too beautiful to look in the eye, and avert his gaze dramatically unless she bid otherwise.”

Ragnhild Ulfurtonn’s attempts to contact the Dwarves however, fall on deaf ears. She is unable to reach either Dwarven hold, one under siege by Isldar who refuse her entry, and another who simply refuses to speak to her on account of Regalia not assisting the Dwarves in their plight against the Isldar. Defeated, she returns home.

When Krupp’s diplomatic actions resolved themselves, he commanded his fleet and army to Teled Methen, Rië Riviella to be precise, with the intent to invade the Elven lands. No official or formal declaration of war had been made by the Regalian Empire against the various Elven Kingdoms, but with Regalian troops landing on Elven shores, any such official declaration would prove unnecessary. Virathius’s massive army, supported by Kolton Typhonus’ much smaller force, landed on the north-east coastline, close to the capital of Rië, but far enough to avoid direct confrontation with the fortifications. Krupp sent out various lesser commanders to do his bidding in the field.

Hengest Harhold was sent into the countryside, pillaging and destroying and looting wherever he went. Elven homesteads were attacked and decimated, the local wildlife slaughtered, crops trampled and centuries old buildings set ablaze. The invasion was not unexpected, though the violence in it was. The Elven commanders and rulers did not react as chaotically and unprepared as the Regalian commanders would have expected. Rather, they fortified themselves behind the massive bastion walls of the Elven citadels, cities whose walls had only ever been breached during the Orc-Elven war. Massive streams of refugees fled from the countryside to the major cities, while Elves countered the Regalian war rhetoric with the rhetoric and virtue of survival of the Elven race. To them, it was do or die to preserve the legacy of the Elven Empire whose resurgence had yet to come.

Gustavus Bangsius Ostrokrupp was less fortunate than the successful Harhold raids. His Skagger attempts to wage guerrilla warfare from the forests of Rië proved to be a fatal mistake; these forests were filled with Elven rangers who had mapped every tree, turn and twist for centuries. Unexpectedly, Ostrokrupp’s force found itself hailed with arrows and other vile magics from the treetops, far outside of their range. None of the Regalian artillery or skirmish capabilities had any effects in these densely grown forests, through which the Regalian troops turned to a complete route. Ostrokrupp’s force lost nearly 1800 men of the original 7500 before returning to the fortified base camp, having failed their objective to start a harassment campaign against the Elves.

News of the invasion in Rië spread quickly, resulting in Precaëlle sending its own armies north, albeit delayed. The delay offered enough time for Virgil Buhr and the Unionist fanatics to start their campaign of terror on those who hadn’t already fled to the major cities. They went from town to town, rounding up the survivors and inflicting horrors of torture and death on them, justifixes, nailed to vertical wooden beams they stood as ravens and rats tore at their flesh. They brought pestilence wherever they went, and worst of all in the holy temple site of Käell Temple, an ancient thousands years old temple to the Nelfin deity of Pride. Even though the temple’s original purpose had been abandoned centuries ago, the temple was still used as a house of Estel worship by Cielothar, Altalar and Yanar alike. When Buhr’s zealots arrived, they first descended on the priests, who were burned alive, quartered and beheaded. The Yanar were rounded up in pens and set ablaze in large numbers, while the Cielothar pilgrims were used as target practice for the Regalian archers. Finally, the great statue of Kathyar, the vice demon of Pride, golden and bejeweled, was torn down and smashed, the remains brought back to Regalia as war bounty. This thousands years old temple was desecrated and violated in ways that the Elves had not even considered possible, as Regalia had always silently ignored the Elven temples during the Ranger Crisis.

The savage destruction of the temple of Käell did not go unnoticed in the Ullaren Wastes or even the South Wolden forests. The Wolathar in particular were outraged at the destruction of a temple of their most important deity, while the Avanthar were particularly enraged by the senseless eradication of Cielothar and Yanar in the temple. While the Wild Union and the Shadow Pact had not formally engaged in any hostilities against the Regalian Empire, both now formally declared war on the Crown Alliance, the Regalian Empire and all its allies. The Wild Union did not formally engage in any hostilities yet, this was to be expected, after all their lands were vast and their armies preoccupied with the Saivalthar who were a member of the Shadow Pact. The Wolathar and Shendar however, immediately launched an invasion of the L’Elvellen Principality and the southwestern border of Lusits. The Lusits Junistas and Daendroque Allies were able to hold the line, but with Regalia facing off three major geopolitical alliances (who were all also at war with one another), the situation was expected to become very complicated and messy.

Krupp’s further attempts to seize upon the major coastal cities ended in no results. The Elven forts proved too large and strong for his fleets to engage, their coastal batteries magnificent, even for old age siege weaponry. Their bastion walls were massive and their coastal harbor defenses ingenious. Much of the Elven fleet remained at large and chose not to engage Krupp’s superior numbers, albeit for now.

Christopher Black’s Armada succeeded in its goal to map out the Elven coast and make note of all major fortifications. They chose further not to engage any defences, nor were they engaged by any Elven fleets. They reported back to Regalia with a detailed map of all surrounding areas in Rië.

Back in the Regalian Archipelago however, trouble was brewing. Krupp’s choice to remove all troops from Drixagh once again flared up local rebellious sentiment. While it did not spill out into actual rebellion, many Opper Calem settlers vanished, were killed or simply driven out of their homesteads while the Velheimer people took back their lands. Aside from that occasional killing however, nothing was apparently anti Regalian in sentiment or anti Imperial. The case had simply become that without military assurances to their protection, the Opper Calem people were threatened and outnumbers by the locals who re-asserted their dominance on their land. They were still broken as a people and loyal to the state, but not friendly to the new settlers. Just across the pond, House Viduggla also engaged in mobilized defense and training excersizes, citing reasons that House Viduggla would be prepared to face down any invasion of their lands.

On the other landmass, in the heartland of the Leutz-Vixe people, the self proclaimed Ravenstad Duke mobilized his personal army and marched on the Peirgarten lands, south of the much larger and richer Ravenstad holdings. Peirgarten’s troops (which weren’t even mobilized) faced odds fifteen to one, and simply just surrendered, but did not join forces with the Ravenstads as they had hoped. The Ravenstad Duke’s decision to further start trampling and pillaging Peirgarten lands confused the locals and caused considerable anti Ravenstad sentiment to form, most notably the local resistance spell: “Nesse pas min Roi”, or simply just “Not my King”, in light of the pretense of the Duke to claim Peirgarten lands under the guise of being the King of Brissiauds, a non-hereditary title given to the late Percy Ravenstad by the Emperor. The Ravenstad forces destroyed most of the Peirgarten’s local industry and crafts, causing an immediate crash in the local economy, and as such, unemployed, many of the locals took to active resistance. With Peirgarten’s lands fully occupied, the family founds itself destitute in Regalia, cut off from all their income, troops and estates and properties. Some of their distant relatives were also in captivity in their homeland. The Rosendahl Family’s commanders immediately mobilized their forces in anticipation of the Ravenstad troops turning on them, digging in defences around the much smaller and hopelessly indefensible capital of their realm. Clearly, the Ravenstad family had violated the Emperor’s peace, though the Emperor seemed to not get involved at all, citing his concerns were with the wars in the west, not some petty backdoor squabble between two families whose trivial support for the war made them not a priority. That being said, the Noble Assembly would yet have a say on the matter, ruling and deciding in the Emperor’s stead.

Tobie Peirgarten stared longingly at the reports of Ravenstad invasion that took his home of Lorhauser, calling forth what few guardsmen he had remaining in Regalia and arming them for the long haul back to the Brissiauds whilst he focused his efforts on gaining favour from the houses that most supported him.

Nadina Haaven's fists clenched furiously around the newspaper in her hands. For the first time in many moons, her lips spoke the hushed words of Jacobinist sentiment. She tossed her head to the right, noting the Buhr's blood-shaded Estate just a mere pebbles-throw from her own. Nadina crept out of her lavish home that night, setting a minuscule representation of her thoughts beside the Reverend's door.

The next time he awoke, Virgil would find the burned, fragrant remains of a purple poppy scattering the cobbles of his front pathway.

A congratulatory note written by a captured elven scribe makes its way to Virgil Buhr's camp via a rider in the night.

    "Wish I was there, friend.

"*Cough Cough* Spirit damn this cold going on. And this infernal scratching. Bah, I need something to do to get my mind off off this irritation everywhere. What of the news in the west?"

upon receiving word on the armies the baron began to remark:

"...you don't say? Excellent, we've set a foothold. Now we just need to maintain it for a while. Any other progress with the theater to report? Hm, the Elves have finally decided to work together for once? I'm sure they'll find a way to hinder themselves. We've made a landing and the Baron Narlas has provided information to the commanders. There's little more I could hope for. Well, maybe some more families to pledge support, but that will come in due time. I suppose I should read up on what's preoccupying everyone in the Archipelago."

And so began the last bit of information the baron wished to read up on.

"...typical. The barbarians wish to remain backwards and uncivilized. One again the greatest regret of my life. At least they aren't usurping anyone this time. Else Drixagh will become another Vultaro and we'll be done with it once and for all. I suppose that's about everythi-"

And as prompt as the Baron Gruenwald's elation came, thus it disappeared with the reading of the last news of the day. Pausing a moment, the baron through the parchment into the nearest fire, getting up and proceeding to storm to his office.

At least that was the initial plan. However, the sudden shifting of his garments caused the baron to break out into another itching fit. With one final outburst, the baron moved back to his chamber.

"Fetch me some more of that damn medicine. And no, I do not have this damn plague! It's probably something I caught from those vagrants that stormed from the assembly. Mark my words, it will be gone by the weekend. Just like any other illness!"

Dahae's heart painfully shattered, and soon the Cielothar found herself weeping within the room.

How soon will it be before they hunt the others within the city? How long until she finds herself being used as target practice?

Wyyran's hands uncontrollably trembled. The Solur Companions by his side stayed blissfully unaware, and continued to tug on the side of his sleeve.

The Yanar drew in a shaky, deep breath, and sighed out with little to no relief. He gently placed the paper aside and headed for bed.

Conf Ladveer grumbled, rubbing his right temple with his good hand as it supported his propped up head. The more and more reports he poured over, the louder the banging in his head got. Until he got to a few about the Yanar burnings and the Wild Union and Shadow Pact's declaration. "F*cking.... Idiots!" He yelled, sitting up and kicking his desk, still seated. He winced, grumbling more as his toe started to throb in sync with his migraine, which in itself already throbbed in sync with the pain in his legs and chest. No rest, no time to really heal. Too much sh*t to do... He yelled for one of the maps to be brought in, and for once the servants didn't give him snide underhanded comments. He was just a House Guard, and barely that, not a drop of blue blood they said. As if they would know if he did. He was a tactician under the General though, which had some minor perks. They got their ar*es in gear this time, maybe his foul mood did it. Probably. He took the maps, giving a slight nod to them as he poured over the coastline, comparing the new maps to old. A lot of general details were the same, but hardly any rivers or roads were marked. Or even /towns/. He muttered again, "F*cking... idiots..." They found him there the next morning, asleep on the desk. He had pushed the maps aside and taken to a bottle of wine at some point, apparently. He didn't blame himself for that- he wanted to drowned himself with the stuff after all this damn mess.

"The children, they're gone. The men and the women and the pets and the shrines AND EVERYTHING!" wailed a Cielothar, falling into the hands of an Avanthar. They held close, unnaturally close, their knuckles white. Bella knew this type of hug from that type of hug. It was the same rebellious squeeze she gave her special feline friend so many years ago, that helpless surrender. She recognized it.

The Tresmisae darted from one house's roof edge into the next and invited herself into the slum's abode. A knocked out drunkard gave her plenty of time to think, think away from the hating Sun's rays. "They take children... and burn? Th-the yanar? Gone?" spouted out the widow, struggling to form those words. It felt foreign, saying the children died. Mama Bella knew tragedy from her family, but the hopeless realization she couldn't do anything for countless families was so shaking she simply couldn't choke it down.

She knew they wouldn't help her, they couldn't. Mother was not fit for working with the others yet. But she had to do something. She was always told she'd become the next Great Mother in her village; who knew if that familiar farm was gone?

There was something she had to do.

A Claith woman drew to a stop when she finally managed to get a hold of a news pamphlet, her foot steps easing to an end when she reached the part of the death of so many Nelfin. She inhaled a sharp gasp before whispering aloud in Elvish, "Why has such things happened? Did the Elven do something?" The foreigner bit her lip in a nervous action before turning and moving off.

    The pamphlet would be left on the desk of Hamelin d'Vaud, a note scribbled along with it;

    What did they do?

Darius Silevon looked upon the enclosed parchment in horror. He had not expected such a vile act of savage cruelty, no less from a man apointed by the Regalian state. For the first time in tens of years, he made a quiet wish so heretical, even uttering it in the slums would ressult in a beating.

"I hope the Elves slaughter them all, every last one of the shits. Krupp, Buhr, Ravendstad and all of their men. If they can do this in a foreighn nation, they can do such vile acts at home."

    "Damn them all..."
These were the only words the Drowdar managed to mumble. He smashed his head into his desk, resting it there as tears quietly dropped from his eyes. The Shendar and Wolathar began to move, the Avanthar were angered. And the Nelfin were divided.
And so, Null sobbed. He sobbed for the death of the Estel worshippers. For the slaughtering of the Nelfin.
And for the movement of the Void.
"May the Altalar slaughter them all..."

Ragnhild Ulfurtonn returned to Regalia empty handed, no support was to be found in Dwarven lands, but at least she got to see some sights she wouldn't have. The next idea on her agenda was to go about her own plans for the war.

    The Regalia-raised Velheimer travelled on horseback up to the city gates, accompanied by her Elder Brother, Ullr, and a small team of armed militants. Turning to Ullr she meekly stated;

"I hope this is not common knowledge, Ragnhild the Reject does have a ring to it though."
    @Eternal_Wrath

Ieloss Bosque grinned upon hearing the news, pondering alone in her Regalian home, wandering aimlessly, barefoot as she hummed an Avanthar riding song, she threw down her newspaper as her slitted pupils stared at themselves in the mirror.

"Now, don't do anythin' stupid, Iel. No victory screeches in public areas."

Brought his head to a tilt. "I dont think Buhr understands what it meant to be a unionist.."
He sighed and leaned back im his seat with a troubled groan. "It is meant to be a guide and consolation for fellow sentients.. not a steak knife to plunge in their hearts. Bloody fool."

Joasaie gasped in horror as she read the news pamphlet. "Why?" kept running through her mind as she closed the door to her house. Collapsing on her couch, she cried for the Yanar who were so brutally killed. "Burned in groups....those aren't people. They're monsters."

    Cerridynn Ulfmaerr

She lay on her back in a warm room at the back of her medicine shop. A hookah sits by her feet and strange looking herbs hang above her face a few feet up. Her hair fanned out behind her, a golden mess of braids and beads. Cerridynn's gaze was distant, as if seeing something no one else could. Something the burnt herbs induced in her unraveling mind. A vision of sorts.

'Forseth.. River Jaud.. Neflin.. Plague.. Massacre.. So much pain.. Siona I go' what I mus' do!'

The candle mouse, whom had been sleeping soundly by her shoulder, rolled off Cerridynn as soon as she shot up. Small annoyed squeaks and a flicker of light later the little mouse scurried off. Cerridynn's gaze stuck to her feet and she wiggled her toes, shiny toe rings beaming back to her.

'Oh Ona.. I see wha' shouldn't be seen.. I see a face.. but whom is it They are showin' me? Whom is it I mus' find..?'

With a huff of breath Cerridynn lay back and stared up at the ceiling, her gaze going distant once more. Time will tell who They chose.

Would smirk at the incoming reports, barely holding in his building excitement. He'd been disgusted by the brutal actions his fellow man had committed, but that was no surprise, he'd long since grown used to the revolting actions of a few. But that was not important now, this was his time, his chance. He set his parchement down on the table and look out the window, picking up his old Saber and murmuring under his breath... "Finally."

"Oh my spirit..." Katrina mumbled as the news reached her. However, she didn't sob, her expression was stone-faced as her thoughts wandered to that of her family, most of whom had since fled Rie, with the exception of her great grandmother and her parents. As her brother approached, she'd speak in that of a low growl. "Send word to Elyana-- This is not going to end well."
