Fading Memory

((This is a collab between @SpoopMelon and I about the Cantaine siblings when they were children! I wrote for Agustin and spoop wrote for Micaela.))

It was a peaceful day at the Cantaine estate and out the door to the garden walked a young girl with brown hair and blue eyes. She walked extremely carefully around the various plants in the garden as she made her way to her brother's greenhouse. The beads in the girl's hair clicked against each other as she walked along the pathways. Sometimes she'd stop at a certain plant to stare at it for a moment before continuing on with a smile every now and then she'd let out a small kitten-like sneeze and rub her itchy eyes. The girl was allergic to some of the plants in the garden, which kept her out most of the time, but today she'd decided to visit her brother while he was in his greenhouse.
Once the girl reached her destination after having avoided falling on any plants she knocked on the door of the greenhouse before opening it carefully and wandering in, "Hi Agustin, how's the gardening going?"

Agustin glanced up from his work - repotting a fairly expensive Aloe plant - and almost jumped out of his skin, sending little clods of dirt scattering across his worktop. Hastily stuffing the cuttings into the pot and shifting it aside, he popped out from behind his little desk. The table he had chosen to be his main place of work was extremely overcrowded, books stacked up high like towers, spiderlike grasses and heavily blooming bushes ordinarily blocking his view of the door. Unfortunately there were plenty of things inbetween here and the door, like a maze. After a brief pause to calculate the best route, he burst into motion, squeezing his way between various shrubs, orchids, fruit-bearing planters and messy worktops, hopping over stray pots, a watering can or two, dodging between thorny rosebushes and poisonous flowers and eventually bursting out into full view near the entrance, an old leaf trapped in his hair and soil under his nails. "Micaela! I - what are you doing here!" he exclaimed as he frantically stumbled over to his blue-eyed little sister, tripping over a stray pot and staggering to a halt in front of her. After a little hesitation, he knelt down so their eyes were level. Micaela de Cantaine, youngest of the Cantaine siblings, was not a lucky girl, and Agustin was not sure how comfortable he was having her in his greenhouse.

Micaela gave her brother a smile, "I wanted to come say hi, I never get to see what you grow in here." The girl held her hand in front of her mouth and nose as she gave another small sneeze, after which she wobbled on her feet for a moment before going to hug onto her big brother for balance. After a moment of clinging onto him she let go and stood carefully on her own, "I wanna see, I wanna see!" She jumped lightly in place, her big blue eyes filled with excitement as she looked to her brother. "Pretty pretty please! I'll try not to break anything! I promise on Bearon Teddington."

Agustin's expression became strained as he desperately tried to weigh up the momentary happiness of his younger sister against the survival of his greenhouse. He knew that she would try very hard not to break anything, definitely - Bearon Teddington was her favourite stuffed toy, and he knew that she wouldn't make that kind of promise lightly. But still..
She did have the Estel's Touch, after all. It wasn't as if she could help it.
After a few seconds' hesitation, he gave in - "Oh, sure, why not. Why don't you just uh. Follow me, oui? And we can see what I have to show you." He rose back to his feet, reaching down to a little hesitantly ruffle her hair as he cast his nervous gaze about the greenhouse, looking for the hardiest plant he could find. Unfortunately, Agustin de Cantaine's private greenhouse was not the kind of place to grow sturdy plants. "Just as long as you're veery careful, oui? There are some dangerous plants in here as well, and we wouldn't want to get you hurt." He ruffled his sibling's hair once more, before pointing over at the relatively cheap but very vibrant selection of flowers he had arranged in planters along the left wall. "How about over there?"

Micaela and her brother wandered around for awhile, the young girl being fascinated by every single plant she saw and Agustin pointing out his favourites. As they were wandering around Micaela tripped over her own feet and fell into a potted plant, breaking the pot and leaving the plant slightly crushed. The girl immediately started sniffling as she went to try to re-assemble the pot, obviously failing considering it was broken and she didn't have any glue. Despite her failing to miraculously fix the pot, she still kept trying before moving to place the plant back into what was left of the pot and straightening it out before patting it carefully on the leaves.

Agustin wasn't really looking at the time of the incident - he was busily pointing out his fly orchid and explaining how useful it was and that it was a great shame that Mother wouldn't buy more for him because they would be a wonder to have around the house - and then he heard a crash and immediately spun around, scanning the area and homing in on the small Micaela lying in the remains of his flowerpot. Thankfully, it wasn't one of his more ludicrously expensive plants, but it wasn't the cheapest either, and he had planned to use it as part of an arrangement for their mother's birthday. At first he was ready to scream at her and drag her right out of the greenhouse as he had planned to do - but the way she reacted, her vulnerability and the way she seemed to care about these things made his heart melt. "Don't worry about it," he murmured, as he knelt down to pull her into a hug. "Don't worry about it. We can buy a new one, it's fine."
He only hoped their parents wouldn't go too hard on her. He didn't think she could handle another bleeding.
